Player of the season - what fans are saying so far
We asked you to pick your player of the season after our Ipswich fan contributor narrowed it down to Liam Delap, Dara O'Shea, Omari Hutchinson and Jens Cajuste.
Here are some of your comments on your selection, as well as some more names thrown into the ring:
James: While Liam Delap is the obvious choice - and would be a worthy winner - my vote goes to O'Shea for his consistency of performances across a difficult defensive campaign for Town. I can't recall a poor display from O'Shea, who is your typical '7 out of 10' performer. He isn't afraid to put his head in where it hurts and has led by example, also improving the performances of those around him. I hope we manage to hold on to O'Shea for the 2025-26 Championship season and build our defence around him in our bid for an immediate return.
Mathew: Been a tough season but Delap has been by far and away our best player. Hope he will stay but can't blame him if he chooses to go elsewhere. Defo future senior England striker!
Rob: Cam Burgess has been player of the year, for me. Cost about £500K and every time we go up a level he steps up as well. Never outmuscled and surprisingly good with positioning and pace. Significantly better consistency than some of the more costly recruits.
James: Cajuste. Some loan players come and go with little impact or buy-in, but he has taken to it easily. Alex Palmer also has done well and I wonder if he had been at the club from the start how the season would have panned out.
Russell: Why didn't Julio Enciso get mentioned in player of the season shortlist? He was one of the most outstanding players this season.

Chelsea signs striker Liam Delap from Ipswich in time for Club World Cup
Associated Press LONDON (AP) — Chelsea signed striker Liam Delap from relegated Ipswich on Wednesday in time to play at the Club World Cup after activating his release clause of 30 million pounds ($40 million). Chelsea used the opening of a special trading window from June 1-10 to add a center forward to its squad, with the 22-year-old Delap set to provide competition for first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson. He signed a six-year contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2031. Delap scored 12 league goals — representing one-third of Ipswich's topflight total last season — and joins a resurgent Chelsea team that finished fourth in the Premier League and won the third-tier Conference League title under manager Enzo Maresca. 'I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach,' Delap told club media. 'It's going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.' Chelsea's first group-stage match at the Club World Cup, being held in the United States, is against Mexican club Leon on June 16 in Atlanta. Delap, who left Manchester City to join Ipswich in last year's offseason, was also reportedly interesting Manchester United. He joined City's youth academy in 2019 and played on the club's elite development squad under Maresca, who was then a member of Pep Guardiola's coaching staff. Chelsea's American ownership group has spent heavily on players — with a particular focus on those in their early 20s — since buying out Roman Abramovich in 2022. Delap has played for England through the youth levels but not yet for the senior team. He was named on England's team for the Under-21 European Championship taking place this month in Slovakia. The final roster is expected Friday. Delap is also eligible to play for Ireland. His father, English-born Rory Delap, represented Ireland. ___ AP soccer:

🚨 Chelsea complete the signing of Ipswich star Liam Delap
Champions League-bound Chelsea have begun their planned summer shopping spree in earnest after officially completing the £30m signing of Ipswich star Liam Delap. Delap, 22, was the standout performer for the Tractor Boys across the ill-fated 2024/25 Premier League campaign, and despite dropping back down to the Championship, the England youth international impressed the big boys to the tune of 12 goals; 33% of Ipswich's total number across the season. Despite a number of attacking assets at Stamford Bridge, including Senegalese international Nicholas Jackson, Blues boss Enzo Maresca now added further depth of quality in west London ahead of their return to Europe's premier club competition. Chelsea win race to sign Ipswich striker Delap
Chelsea beat off competition from Premier League rivals to sign English striker Liam Delap from Ipswich on Wednesday for a reported fee of £30 million ($41 million) Delap, 22, scored 12 Premier League goals during his sole season at Portman Road but could not prevent Ipswich making an immediate return to the Championship. Advertisement Manchester United and Everton were also reportedly willing to meet the buyout clause in the England under-21 international's contract. But Chelsea have won the race for the former Manchester City forward, bolstering their attacking options ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States, starting later this month. "I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach," said Delap, who has signed a six-year contract, in a Chelsea statement. "It's going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies." Advertisement The Blues finished fourth in the Premier League and will return to the Champions League next season after a two-year absence. And Enzo Maresca's men last week beat Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final to secure a trophy in the Italian manager's first season in charge. In mid-December Chelsea were within touching distance of eventual Premier League champions Liverpool before hitting a rocky patch. They finished the season strongly, securing a top-five spot on the final day of the season but were hamstrung by their lack of a clinical number nine. Senegal international Nicolas Jackson scored just 10 times in 30 Premier League appearances, while Christopher Nkunku looks set to leave the club after an underwhelming two-year spell. Advertisement Delap, the son of former Stoke midfielder Rory Delap, began his career at Manchester City but struggled to break into Pep Guardiola's star-studded first team. After loan spells in the second tier with Stoke, Preston and Hull, he was snapped up by Ipswich in a deal worth up to £20 million after they won promotion to the Premier League a year ago. Delap was one of the few success stories for the Tractor Boys during a difficult season as they were relegated back to the Championship with just 22 points. Chelsea will face Flamengo, LAFC and ES Tunis in the group stages of the Club World Cup, which gets underway on June 14. kca/jw/bsp
