Enercap starts production of 'Made in UAE' advanced batteries
Enercap, a subsidiary of Apex Investment, has officially commenced the production of fully UAE-manufactured advanced batteries designed for a wide range of critical sectors, including electric vehicles, urban power grids and data centres.
Speaking to the WAM on the sidelines of the 2025 World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi, Ahmed Amer Omar, Managing Director of Apex Investment and Enercap, confirmed that the company had recently signed a contract with 2PointZero and is currently in discussions with several European countries, including the United Kingdom and Italy, which have expressed interest in deploying these innovative batteries.
The batteries offer a significant advantage in operational frequency, being capable of charging and discharging up to four to five times per day, compared to conventional batteries which typically handle only one cycle.
This capability supports vital infrastructure such as electricity networks across diverse locations, stated Omar.
He also announced that the company is developing the fully renewable-powered "Mawasem Park" project, located between Abu Dhabi and Al Samha.
Enercap is currently testing its batteries with major firms such as G42 to enhance data centre resilience and sustainability.
Omar stressed the central role of artificial intelligence in advancing this sector and reiterated that the product is 100 percent Emirati in conception, design and manufacture.
Bilal Sheikh, Chief Marketing Officer at Enercap, said the company is showcasing a globally unique energy storage system at the event, considered one of the most advanced in the world and fully developed and manufactured within the UAE.
The system is the world's first non-chemical battery technology, free from lithium, electrolytes or graphene. Instead, it operates on an electrostatic energy storage principle, allowing for ultra-fast charging and high operational efficiency.
The batteries can recharge electric vehicles in under six minutes and have a lifespan of up to 40 years, coupled with a high safety rating that eliminates the risk of combustion.
Sheikh said that Enercap integrates artificial intelligence across its operational ecosystem, including its battery management systems, industrial data analytics, consumer behaviour insights, and applications in electric vehicles, grid energy return, renewable energy system management and carbon credit tracking.
"AI has become integral to modern enterprise growth, both structurally and in its applications and Enercap uses AI to enhance manufacturing efficiency and to optimise battery usage among consumers for maximum energy efficiency," he added.

Dubai Real Estate Prices Likely To Face Double-Digit Fall After Years Of Boom, Fitch Says
Dubai's real estate market prices are likely to face a double-double-digit fall in the second half of the year and in 2026, ratings agency Fitch said in a report on Thursday, marking a sharp turn after years of a post-pandemic boom. A spike in deliveries in 2025 and 2026 to a planned 210,000 units, doubling from the previous three years, is likely to cause a record increase in supply and push prices down by no more than 15%, the agency said. The possible drop would follow a rise of around 60% in residential units prices between 2022 and the first quarter of this year in Dubai, where massive infrastructure spending, generous income tax policies and relaxed social and visa rules lured thousands of foreigners after the COVID-19 pandemic, including Russians amid war in Ukraine. Real estate plays a vital role for the economy of the emirate, the Gulf's hub for business and tourism, with sector transactions worth 761 billion dirhams ($207.22 billion) last year, rising 36% in volume, according to Dubai government data. In the past, Dubai suffered painful corrections akin to the property crash in 2009 which required a $20 billion Abu Dhabi-led bailout. The government has since taken measures to deleverage and strengthen the sector, and consolidated major state-owned real estate developers. It has also pursued an economic reboot anchored in what it hopes is sustainable growth, including a 10-year plan known as D33, to double output and become one of the world's top four financial centres. Fitch said on Thursday that banks and homebuilders can tolerate a decrease in prices. It noted that while real estate remains the largest component in UAE banks' lending books, banking sector exposure to firms operating in real estate had dropped to 14% of total gross loans at end of last year from 20% three years earlier. The attractiveness of properties in prime locations, which include palm tree-shaped artificial island Palm Jumeirah, together with delays in project completion would also help mitigate pricing pressure.

"The LX marks our strategic entry into Dubai's commercial property segment, and we've done so with intention and insight," said its Chairman Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk. With One Broker Group leading the exclusive sales mandate, The LX is already drawing strong interest from investors, SMEs, and entrepreneurs looking to establish themselves in a growth-focused location with excellent ROI potential. Dubai RTA to open new entry, exit point to Al Warqa
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to open a new entry and exit point to Al Warqa directly from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early next week (start of June), aiming to facilitate smoother access to and from the neighbourhood. Once complete, the project will increase road capacity by 5,000 vehicles per hour, reduce travel time by 80% - from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes - and cut trip distances from 5.7 km to 1.5 km. RTA has also completed traffic improvement works on Street 13 in Al Warqa 1 to serve residents and schoolgoers. These enhancements form part of a broader internal road development project spanning approximately 8 km, designed to improve traffic flow and enhance the efficiency of the local road network, ultimately boosting daily mobility and residents' quality of life. RTA reaffirms its commitment to developing an integrated infrastructure network—encompassing roads, lighting, and stormwater drainage systems—within residential areas, in line with Dubai's urban and population growth objectives. This reflects RTA's dedication to meeting residents' aspirations for a modern urban environment that enhances quality of life, supports sustainable mobility solutions, and ensures the highest standards of comfort and well-being. These efforts align with Dubai's vision of becoming a smart, prosperous city that meets the evolving needs of its residents while ensuring their happiness and stability. Development projects in Al Warqa also include upgrades to the internal road networks in Al Warqa 3 and 4. These works involve road paving, the construction of pedestrian walkways, pavements, and parking spaces, along with the implementation of cycling tracks exceeding 23 km in total length. The goal is to enhance connectivity with neighbouring cycle tracks and promote alternative, sustainable modes of transport. According to RTA, the next phase will include capacity enhancements in Al Warqa 1, involving the conversion of existing roundabouts into signalised junctions with smart traffic lights. This is expected to improve traffic flow by up to 30%. These improvements are scheduled for completion by the end of this year, as per the project timeline. Recently, RTA carried out a series of internal road development works in Al Warqa, including traffic enhancements around the School of Research Science in Al Warqa 4 and near GEMS Royal Dubai School. This included the construction of 150 additional parking spaces and the provision of secured entry and exit points for the new parking areas. These measures have contributed to easing congestion and reducing delay times in the school zone by approximately 35% to 50%, it stated. RTA also completed internal roads supporting the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment project in Al Warqa 4, which comprises 136 residential villas. The works included pedestrian walkways, pavements, vehicle access points, and a fully integrated lighting system, all aimed at enhancing road safety and improving mobility for residents. In support of sustainable transport, a 7.4 km cycling track was also constructed to encourage cycling for both recreation and as a viable first-and-last-mile transport option. Earlier, RTA held an interactive session with residents and frequent visitors of Al Warqa to highlight key initiatives and development projects in the district. The session also served as a platform for the public to share feedback and observations on infrastructure and the road network. This approach demonstrates RTA's commitment to listening to community voices, addressing their suggestions, and transforming them into practical solutions. The customer engagement session with Al Warqa residents was a key milestone that helped shape a series of development initiatives and projects. These were translated into tangible improvements on the ground, directly enhancing traffic flow and addressing both current and future community needs.
