Vijay Nath Shukla, general manager (tourist) of KMVN, said, "The foreign ministry has selected 250 pilgrims divided into five batches of 50 members each. This year, the total cost for the yatra is Rs 1.65 lakh per person. Of this, 1100 USD (approximately Rs 90,000 will be paid to China – an increase from 900 USD charged previously. KMVN will get Rs 55,000 and Rs 10,400 has been allocated for visa fee, medical, and eco tests.
"
The yatra will begin from Delhi and pilgrims will undertake the journey primarily by vehicle and will be required to trek a 7-km stretch from Nabhidhang to Lipulekh Pass. "Tenders have been invited for ponies and porters for the trek, while the capacity of guest houses at Nabhidhang and Gunji has also been increased from 50 to 100 beds," Shukla said.
He added that a team of KMVN personnel has surveyed the route to prepare reports.
"Repair and construction is in progress and will be completed in two weeks. This year, the pilgrimage will begin from Tanakpur in the Kumaon region."
Girish Bhatt, junior engineer of KMVN, said, "The facilities of guesthouses at four camps — including Nabhidhang, Dharchula, Gunji, and Bundi — are being increased and pilgrims will have more facilities in the huts. Pilgrims will stay at Bundi on their return."

Tadoba Looks Beyond Safari, To Offer High-End Wild Experience

1 2 Nagpur: Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is set to transform wildlife tourism in Maharashtra by providing customised 'experiences' in the buffer zone, rather than just the routine hop-and-ride safari. TATR, through a rigorous process, will select a reputable tour operator agency which will be responsible for creating tailor-made experiences for tourists, which goes beyond 'tiger sighting'. The selected agency will be called "official partner of TATR", a tag the firm can use in its branding and marketing creatives. Prabhu Nath Shukla, field director of (TATR), said the plan will be limited to the buffer zone of the TATR. "Our aim is to provide tourists coming here with a plethora of activities to choose from. Many times, we have tourists who reach directly at the gate, only to find that no safari slots are available. Also, tourists with booked slots have free time in between the morning and evening safaris. This project will give such tourists more options," Shukla said. TATR, through its official partner, will prepare tailor-made itineraries showcasing the buffer area's wildlife, landscapes, and local culture. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Each tour package will emphasize eco friendly practices and intimate wildlife encounters (guided safaris, birdwatching, nature walks, etc.), heritage walks, apart from religious and scientific exposure visits. TATR wants each visitor to leave with a lasting impression of the destination; one that deeply connects them with its people, places, and unique ethos. "In the buffer zone we have many villages where the local culture can be shown. There are adventure activities like kayaking and boating which tourists can enjoy. There are many other areas of tourist interest which will be identified, and the official partner will then market it," Shukla added. The project will also provide employment to locals and optimize revenue for the govt. "This will help tourists to explore all gates and surrounding areas. It will help in spreading the tourist load and generate revenue," Shukla said. While the official partner will prepare customized 'tour experiences' and market it to a worldwide audience, TATR management will facilitate necessary logistics, swift permissions, and ensure tourist safety. Forest officials are counting on the operator's marketing acumen and TATR's resources, to enhance eco-tourism practices and generate greater awareness and revenues for conservation efforts for the region. Summer traffic chokes Doon Valley, nearby towns as tourists pour in

1 2 Dehradun: With the summer tourist influx rising sharply across the Doon Valley and surrounding regions, traffic congestion has brought several major routes to a near standstill. Dehradun, along with Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie, has been severely affected. In the state capital, ongoing construction at Rashtrapati Ashiana on Rajpur Road—the key arterial route to Mussoorie—has narrowed the stretch into a bottleneck, resulting in traffic snarls at peak hours due to the construction of a foot overbridge. Sahastradhara is also seeing daily logjams, with vehicles backed up for hours. Entry points to the city such as Mohand, Saharanpur Road, and Haridwar Bypass are similarly clogged. "This fear regarding Ashiana was raised when the project was first introduced. Without long-term planning, we're unequipped to handle the surge, especially with the Delhi-Dehradun expressway nearing completion. To fix an existing problem, new projects are introduced that create more issues. Like the proposed Rs 6500 crore elevated roads, which are expected to address the increasing traffic volume, but will likely cause more ecological harm to the city. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo More roads mean more vehicles," said social activist Lokesh Ohri, who was stuck in a Rishikesh jam for over three hours this week. Addressing Dehradun's traffic issues, SSP Ajai Singh said on Friday that multiple govt agencies are carrying out development work around Ashiana in preparation for the President's scheduled June 20 visit. "Traffic has been diverted from the Jakhan area, affecting Rajpur Road. Additional police have been deployed to manage the situation," he said. In Haridwar, the Char Dham Yatra has led to traffic woes. Har-ki-Pauri is now avoided even by locals. A Delhi resident recently called it a 'nightmarish experience.' "The number of vehicles is overwhelming, and most drivers show no traffic sense," said local resident Ashwini Manav. "Parking is grossly inadequate. It is difficult to understand how the city administration handles four to five crore kanwariyas visiting the city in ten to twelve days, as per their claim." Efforts to reach SP (Traffic) Jitendra Mehra for comment were unsuccessful. Mussoorie is faring no better. On June 5, a tourist reportedly died after being stuck in traffic and failing to reach a hospital in time. "The traffic is becoming a headache for both tourists and locals. It's not just about delays—what happens if a loved one needs urgent care?" asked resident Shalabh Garg. Locals complain that despite yearly promises by the administration, as the season comes, "everything falls flat". Inadequate parking, roadside encroachments, rental two-wheelers, and congestion on Mall Road during peak hours are worsening the problem. "The city needs a long-term traffic plan," one resident said. Mussoorie station officer Santosh Kunwar said the police are working hard to resolve the issues. "During emergencies, people can call us, and we'll clear the way for ambulances," he said. Kunwar also urged the RTO to crack down on unregulated rental two-wheelers and halt new permits. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
