YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Reports said police and state troopers Wednesday found guns and marijuana in two cars that were recovered during a high-speed chase Tuesday.
The cars, which were in a city impound at 703 Wilson Ave., were seized after a man was arrested following a chase about 11 p.m. Monday that ended after the driver went to a building in the 1100 block of Andrews Ave and parked there.
In the building, police found a Jeep heavily damaged by gunfire that had two guns inside in plain view and a dodge Charger that had a large amount of marijuana inside.
Police had the cars towed and got a search warrant to search them Wednesday in the impound lot.
Inside the Jeep, officers found an AR-15 pistol and a 9mm handgun.
Inside the Charger, police found several packs of marijuana edibles, packages of marijuana in small and bulk size and five packs of disposal THC vape pens, reports said.
The man who led police on the chase, Derrian Thomas, was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court and is free after posting $7,500 bond. He is due for a preliminary hearing June 18.

Protest regroups near Disneyland after unlawful assembly declared in Anaheim

Anti-ICE protesters regrouped and began setting off fireworks in a neighborhood near Disneyland after an unlawful assembly was declared in Anaheim Thursday night. The fourth day of demonstrations in Orange County began peacefully outside Angel Stadium, but the scene changed as law enforcement tried to disperse the crowd around 8 p.m. Some of those in the group made their way to a residential neighborhood near Disneyland, where they began setting off fireworks. Video showed explosions going off as the group marched through the neighborhood in the area of South Haster Street and Gene Autry Way, about a mile away from the theme park. By 11 p.m., the majority of the crowd had dispersed, the Anaheim Police Department posted on Facebook. 'No arrests were made and there were no uses of force.' Officers remained in the area until after midnight. 'Anaheim PD remains committed to the safety of our community and to protecting everyone's right to assemble and demonstrate peacefully,' the post read. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Is there any truth to the urban legends of organ harvesting? New Mexico Strange

NEW MEXICO (KRQE)— Organ harvesting legends are a staple of horror films, but do they really happen? On this episode of New Mexico Strange, KRQE News 13 Host and Anchor Chad Brummett sat down with author Ben Radford to discuss the urban legends of organ harvesting. First, urban legends are all around us. Oftentimes, these legends are told as true stories and localized. Over the years, Ben Radford has researched urban legends in the state. One example he shared of an urban legend turning into a tragic event happened in the mid-1990s. According to Radford, a Taos woman, Melissa Larson, was hiking in Guatemala. During her trip, rumors amongst the locals spread that she was there to harvest the organs of children. She was attacked and later detained. However, she was not harvesting organs and was later set free. The following month, an Alaska woman traveled to Guatemala and suffered a similar experience. The locals believed the women were there to harvest organs based on fear and rumors. New Mexico is perceived worldwide as a mecca for the extraordinary. Whether it's the healing soil of Chimayo, the haunted trails of the Old West, or visitors from the final frontier, our state is home to countless myths and mysteries.
