Emirates Partners with Bahamasair to Expand Caribbean Access for UAE Travellers

Emirates has signed a strategic interline agreement with Bahamasair, opening new travel options for passengers flying from the UAE to The Bahamas via the United States. The partnership allows Emirates customers to seamlessly connect from Miami or Orlando to three destinations in The Bahamas—Nassau, Freeport, and San Salvador—through Bahamasair, the country's national carrier. Travellers can now book their entire journey, including flights on both airlines, using a single ticket, while enjoying generous baggage allowances. The move strengthens Emirates' footprint in the Caribbean and aligns with its broader strategy of offering more global connectivity to passengers from the UAE and beyond. The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Arabian Travel Market between Emirates and The Bahamas' Ministry of Foreign Affairs to jointly promote tourism to the island nation. Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the deal enhances travel convenience and expands the airline's network to new leisure destinations. 'This partnership offers customers competitive fares, simple booking, and better connectivity to The Bahamas,' he said. Bahamasair's Managing Director, Tracy Cooper, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the access to new markets and international expertise it brings. 'This significantly elevates Bahamasair's global profile and strengthens our growth potential,' she noted. Emirates currently serves Miami with daily flights and Orlando with five-weekly services, connecting passengers from the UAE to over 140 destinations worldwide. The agreement also paves the way for future cooperation in cargo services and frequent flyer programmes. The deal is expected to boost tourism and trade between the UAE and the Caribbean, offering a convenient new route for Emirati travellers seeking tropical escapes. News Source: Emirates News Agency

Emirati Artists Take the Stage at London's Kensington Palace

Emirati performers captivated audiences at Kensington Palace with a night of operatic music, presenting a vibrant showcase of UAE culture on a prestigious international stage. The event featured talented artists Fatima Al-Hashimi, Ahmed Al-Housani, and Ihab Darwish, who performed pieces in Arabic, Italian, and English. This concert was part of the Abu Dhabi Festival's Abroad program, held in partnership with the Peace and Prosperity Trust. The initiative aims to highlight Emirati cultural heritage through classical music while encouraging cross-cultural exchange. A Platform for Cultural Diplomacy Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, stressed the significance of such events in promoting cultural understanding. 'If we do not tell our story, someone else will. And they will get it wrong,' she said. Alkhamis-Kanoo described the showcase as more than a one-time event, but as an ongoing commitment to bringing Emirati talent to the world stage. She added, 'It's about creating understanding, building dialogue, and showing the world the strength of our cultural identity through music. We invest in the young, we partner with the world, and we build cultural legacies that last.' Blending Tradition with Innovation The evening featured the debut of Ihab Darwish's new composition, Ruins of Time, which fused orchestral sounds with traditional Arabic influences. Darwish remarked, 'Music is the fastest way to reach people. It creates peace, it creates understanding. Music removes boundaries. It creates a shared language, a dialogue of coexistence, peace, and tolerance.' Meanwhile, Fatima Al-Hashimi explained her approach to preserving Arab identity within classical music: 'Even while singing in Italian, I included Arabic lyrics to keep our signature present.' Ahmed Al-Housani reflected on the significance of the event, calling it a 'professional milestone' and emphasising, 'Performing here is more than a concert, it's a message. We're here to show the world the strength and beauty of our culture.'

'Wine Olympics' returns to China as international expo opens

The opening ceremony of the Fifth China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo in Yinchuan, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. (Xinhua/Wang Peng) YINCHUAN, CHINA – Media OutReach Newswire – 11 June 2025 – The Fifth China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo opened Monday in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) — dubbed the 'Wine Olympics' — returning to China after seven years. The four-day event has attracted over 1,100 domestic and international guests, featuring 14 activities such as a winery and wine exhibition, an innovation competition, and an art biennial. Making its China debut in 2018 in Beijing, the CMB has this year brought together nearly 400 international judges and over 7,000 wine samples, including a record number of entries from China, according to CMB Chairman Baudouin Havaux. ADVERTISEMENT 'This event opens a new era for the global visibility of the Chinese wine industry,' Havaux said. He added that it is no coincidence the 32nd edition of the CMB is being held in Yinchuan, as it clearly reflects the growing strength of Chinese wine, especially that of Ningxia. After four decades of development, Ningxia has become China's largest wine-producing region. The eastern foot of Helan Mountain is widely regarded as a 'golden zone' for grape growing and high-end wine production. By the end of 2024, Ningxia had more than 600,000 mu (around 40,000 hectares) of wine grape plantations and an annual wine output of 140 million bottles. Its wines are exported to over 40 countries and regions.
