A fifth person has been charged in connection with the disappearance and killing of a Halifax teen more than three years ago.
Devon Sinclair Marsman was last seen on Feb. 24, 2022, in the Spryfield area of Halifax, and was reported missing on March 4, 2022.
Halifax Regional Police say 40-year-old Mark Douglas Robert Doyle was arrested on Thursday morning and charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Doyle was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Friday.
Treyton Alexander Marsman, 26, was charged last year with second-degree murder, indignity to human remains and obstruction of justice.
A 20-year-old man is facing charges of accessory after the fact to murder and obstructing justice. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was a youth at the time of the homicide.
Emma Maria Meta Casey, 23, is facing charges of accessory after the fact to murder, indignity to human remains and obstructing justice.
Chelsey Herritt, 26, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to human remains.
Last week, police announced that remains found last September were confirmed to be that of Marsman. Where the remains were found is not being released as court proceedings are ongoing.
At a news conference last September, Chief Don MacLean confirmed there is a "familial relationship" between Devon Marsman and Treyton Marsman, but would not elaborate.
Devon Marsman's family has long fought for justice in his case. A rally was held on what would have been his 18th birthday in October 2023, calling on police to do more to find out what happened to the teenager.
Police initially said there was no indication to suggest Marsman met with foul play.
But nearly eight months later, police said publicly they considered Marsman's disappearance suspicious. Investigators then announced last September that his death was considered a homicide.
In November 2022, Nova Scotia's Department of Justice offered up to $150,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the teenager's disappearance. Last April, the reward was increased to $250,000.

Teen charged after stabbing in northwest Regina
Regina police vehicles at RPS headquarters can be seen in this file image. (David Prisciak/CTV News) Regina police have charged a teenage boy after an alleged stabbing in the city's northwest Sunday evening. Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Arnason Street after the victim approached a resident on the street and asked them to call EMS. The victim was suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds, police say. Officers and paramedics arrived, and the victim was taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as non-life-threatening. Officers investigated and obtained a description of the suspect. A short time later, officers observed a man matching the description walking down Arnason Street. He was taken into custody and police say they found a knife in his possession. A 17-year-old — who cannot be named under a provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act — faces one count of aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, failing to comply with the conditions of a release order and failing to comply with a disposition. The accused appeared in provincial court Monday morning.

Investigation concludes into Fredericton crash that killed two teens, young adult
Fredericton police have concluded an investigation into a triple fatality on Douglas Avenue last May. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 5, 2024, when a speeding car struck a tree and landed on another vehicle. Two males aged 22 and 17 and a female, aged 14, died at the scene. The two other passengers, a 15-year-old male and 14-year-old female, were brought to hospital with critical and minor injuries. The four occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. Police attempted to stop the vehicle when it passed on a different street but lost them as they were turning around to follow them. The crash happened several minutes later. 'Following a comprehensive investigation that included laboratory analysis and DNA testing, authorities have conclusively determined the identity of the individual who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident,' Fredericton police said in a Facebook post. The late driver cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and as a result of the findings no charges will be laid.
