Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan to visit India, deliver lecture in New Delhi on March 10
Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will visit India from March 9 to 11, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Friday.
Mirzoyan will arrive in New Delhi on March 9 at New Delhi Airport.
The Armenian Foreign Minister is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) at Sapru House, New Delhi, on March 10.
Later in the day, he will hold a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.
According to MEA, FM Ararat Mirzoyan visited India from April 24-27, 2022 to participate in the Raisina Dialogue.
He met EAM Jaishankar and also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Armenian FM was accompanied by a big business delegation and had detailed meetings with the representatives of CII in Delhi and Mumbai.
Jaishankar also met with Mirzoyan in September 2021 in Dushanbe on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. Shortly thereafter, EAM visited Armenia from October 12-13, 2021. This was EAM's first-ever visit to independent Armenia.
India and Armenia share friendly relations rooted in historical ties between the people of the two countries. In 2022, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Armenia was celebrated.

3 Indians who went missing in Iran after kidnapping rescued by police
Three Indian men who had gone missing in Iran have been rescued by Tehran police, the Iranian Embassy in India claimed on Tuesday. "Three missing Indian citizens freed by Tehran police. Local media in Iran say police have found and released three Indian men who had gone missing in Iran," the Iranian Embassy said in its X post. According to a report by Iran's Mehr News Agency (MNA), "The kidnapping of the three Indian men was reported to Tehran police on May 1." The three men, all from Punjab, had arrived in Iran on May 1 while on their way to Australia. A local travel company had promised them well-paying jobs in Australia. However, they went missing shortly after reaching Iran. The Iranian Embassy in India had earlier said on May 29 that the case was under investigation. The case of the three Indian nationals was being followed up by the consular affairs department of Iran's foreign ministry in coordination with relevant judicial authorities, MNA, citing the Embassy, said. Mehr News, citing another Tehran-based news agency, added that the three men were rescued in a police operation against their captors in Varamin, a town located in southern Tehran. Meanwhile, India also confirmed on May 29 that it was in touch with Iranian authorities to locate the three missing nationals and had received good cooperation from the Iranian side, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. Addressing a press briefing, Jaiswal said, "We are extending all possible help to the family members of the three persons who are missing." When asked about the missing Indians and incidents involving ransom calls from Pakistan in recent months, he responded, "You would have seen a statement made by our embassy as well in Iran. The three Indian nationals who had landed there some time back are missing, and we are in touch with the Iranian authorities to locate them for their safety and security and eventual return home. We are in daily touch with the authorities there. We are receiving good cooperation from the Iranian side. And we are also in touch with the families. Obviously, family members in such situations have their own anxiety, etc. So, we are extending all possible help. Hopefully, we'll be able to do our best in this situation." Clarifying further, he added, "February was a different issue. What we are talking about are three Indian nationals who went to Iran recently in May." The Indian Embassy in Iran had said that the family members of the missing men informed them after the three went missing following their travel to Iran. In a statement on X, the Indian Embassy said, "Family members of three Indian citizens have informed the Embassy of India that their relatives are missing after having travelled to Iran. The embassy has strongly taken up this matter with the Iranian authorities, and requested that the missing Indians should be urgently traced and their safety should be ensured. We are also keeping the family members regularly updated of the efforts being made by the embassy."

E-passports for Indians: Do you need to replace current passport? Features, benefits explained
India has rolled out electronic passports for its citizens, a document that comes with enhanced data security. It combines both the paper and an electronic passport, and can be visually identified with a gold coloured symbol printed below the front cover. One of the distinguishing features of the ePassport is the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Chip which is embedded in the passport. This chip contains biometric details and personal information of the holder. How does the ePassport help? A major benefit is the added layer of security that the document provides. Personal information will be available in printed form on the booklet, along with being digitally signed in the chip. This can be securely authenticated by immigration officials across the world, which prevents fraudulent activities and safeguards passports from forgery. Do you have to replace existing passport? Indians with a valid passport do not have to replace it with an ePassport. All passports will continue to remain valid until the expiration date. However, after expiration, when applying for renewal, if the passport office is issuing ePassports, all citizens applying in that office will get it. The phase wise roll out of ePassport, covering all Passport Offices across India, may take a few months, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs. How to apply for a new passport or renewal? Go to India's Passport Seva website, and under services, click on apply for fresh/re-issue passport. If you do not have an account, register a new one. Select your Regional Passport office based on your current location, which will then decide the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) you need to visit. Fill up personal details, and ensure they are accurate before submitting the application, as changes can not be made later. After submission, a unique Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated. Pay and schedule your appointment. Select your preferred PSK. After the appointment is confirmed, you will receive an SMS confirmation. Carry all essential documents when visiting the PSK. In case of minor applicants (below 4 years of age), also carry a recent passport size photograph (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background. Only the passport offices that are technically enabled for ePassports will issue them; others will continue issuing the normal passport until nationwide rollout of the electronic document is complete. India gives Pakistan High Commission official 24 hours to leave country
India on Wednesday declared a Pakistani official persona non grata for engaging in activities not consistent with his official status in the country and has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. "The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official, working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, persona non grata for indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India. The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours," read the Ministry of External Affairs press release. Persona non grata is a formal declaration of disapproval by the host country. The host government requests the diplomat's departure, effectively ending their diplomatic immunity. The host country is not obligated to provide a reason for declaring someone persona non grata. According to the MEA, the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission was issued a demarche to this effect today. "The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. The Pakistani citizen was working as a staff member at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi and has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. An official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs stated, "The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official, working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, persona non grata for indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India. The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. Charge d' Affaires, Pakistan High Commission, was issued a demarche to this effect today." The relations between the two countries have deteriorated in the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and the subsequent response from India by launching attacks, targeting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in the intervening night of May 6-7.
