
Police evacuate site of Fête Nationale celebrations due to `dangerous` weather

Quebec City police have ordered the evacuation of the site where Fête Nationale celebrations are taking place due to a storm heading to the region.
Police said the Plains of Abraham was evacuated at 8:45 p.m.

In a post on social media, the government says 'Due to dangerous weather conditions, the Plains are being evacuated immediately. If you are on site, please calmly follow the evacuation plan displayed on the screens at the front of the stage. Please be careful.'
Several artists were set to perform at 9 p.m., including Ariane Moffatt, Bleu Jeans Bleu, Claude Dubois and Garou.
The area is under a severe thunderstorm warning. Environment and Climate Change Canada said the storm is 'capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
