From Wildfires to Blackout: Algeria Returns to Anti-Morocco Conspiracy Theory
Rabayt – If there's one thing Algeria's regime mouthpiece media is good at, it is coming up with allegations and baseless accusations aimed at attributing, without evidence, any 'heinous' or 'hostile' act to Morocco.
After the wildfire , water theft , espionage , drug trafficking, and many other accusations, Algeria is now pointing fingers at Morocco for allegedly causing the blackout that struck European countries recently, particularly Spain, in recent days.
Echourouk Online, a mouthpiece news outlet known for amplifying and justifying the Algerian regime's hostile claims and smear campaigns against Morocco, claimed in a recent report that public opinion in Spain 'began to point fingers' primarily against Morocco after last week's historic blackout hit the European country.
Descending further into conspiracy theory without bothering to provide any elements of proof, the Algerian website also alleged that what happened in Spain could be a 'cooperation' between Morocco and Israel.
According to Echourouk Online, the alleged Israeli-led 'cyberattack' against Spain's power grid aimed to punish Spain's support for Palestine and its public condemnation of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
As for Morocco, Echourouk Online claimed that the North African kingdom's alleged involvement in this attack was due to Spain's 'shifting stance on the Western Sahara issue.'
The claims came in stark contradiction with the explicit support Morocco has been displaying in favor of the Palestinian cause throughout Israel's genocidal war.
Since Morocco re-established relations with Israel in 2020, Algeria's regime has been exploiting this narrative to spread fallacious accusations against Morocco and its steadfast position in favor of the Palestinian cause.
In the statement Morocco issued on the re-establishment of ties with Israel, King Mohammed VI reassured Palestine and the international community that its support for the Palestinian cause is firm and unchanged.
In December 2022, the monarch stressed Morocco's unchanged position, saying that this stance is grounded in the two-state solution.
'Two states living side by side, in peace and security, negotiations between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides as the only means for achieving a comprehensive and final settlement,' he insisted.
Morocco has also been issuing several statements condemning Israel's relentless campaign against Gaza since October 2023.
As for Algeria's regime's second claim on Spain's Sahara position, the allegations came just a few weeks after Spain reaffirmed its commitment to Morocco's Autonomy Plan as the most serious and credible path to a lasting settlement of the Western Sahara dispute.
Algeria's regime harbors the Polisario Front in an attempt to serve its interest in challenging Morocco's territorial integrity as well as its diplomatic gains as a regional leader in different sectors, including renewable energy, fisheries, and more.
On April 17, Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Jose Manuel Albares received his Moroccan counterpart in a meeting to reiterate Spain's support for the Moroccan initiative.
Spain recognizes the importance of the Sahara issue for Morocco, Albares stressed, highlighting Rabat's credible and serious efforts within the framework of the UN-led political process to reach a mutually acceptable political solution.
A cohort of European countries have echoed this support in the past few months, deepening the momentum of the Moroccan autonomy plan as more countries embrace it as the only politically viable horizon for Western Sahara.
Algeria's regime's latest claims notably come as Spain's government, officials, and media continue to heap praise on Morocco for contributing to the European country's recovery efforts in the aftermath of the massive blackout.
Just this past Monday, Spain's top diplomat expressed heartfelt gratitude to Morocco for its support during the major power outage of April 28.
'This is yet another demonstration of the excellent state of our relations with our neighbors, especially with Morocco,' Albares stated , recalling his earlier comments that Madrid and Rabat currently enjoy the 'best relations in our history.'
Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has also spoken in glowing terms of Morocco's significance to Spain as a strategic ally and a good neighbor, acknowledging the country's pivotal role in Spain's post-blackout recovery efforts.
Morocco deployed 38% of its energy production capacity to help Spain during the massive power outage. And yet, Algeria's regime continues to spread its conspiracy theories, turning not only a deaf ear but also a blind eye to the congratulatory and commendatory statements Spain and its media have been releasing to appreciate Morocco's support.

Ghanaians Can Now Travel to Morocco Without Traditional Visa
Doha – Ghanaian citizens no longer need to obtain traditional visas to enter Morocco, following a new bilateral agreement between the two African countries. The landmark policy change, which takes immediate effect, replaces embassy appointments with an online travel authorization system promising approvals within 24 hours. Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced the development during his two-day working visit to Rabat. 'This is one of the key agreements reached with the Moroccan Foreign Minister during my two-day working visit,' Ablakwa stated. The minister shared the news on his official social media pages on Friday, explaining that Ghanaians can now travel to Morocco using an electronic authorization system. Moroccan officials confirmed the immediate implementation of the Electronic Travel Authorization to Morocco (ETAM) system for Ghanaian citizens. 'We've agreed to make mobility easier for our citizens,' Ablakwa said during a press briefing with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita. 'Although there is already a direct air link between Ghana and Morocco, the visa has been the main barrier to trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchange. Now, with this new measure, that barrier is lifted.' The visa waiver policy aims to significantly enhance trade, boost tourism, and deepen interpersonal connections between the two countries. Existing direct flights operated by Royal Air Maroc will be increased to support this new agreement, potentially establishing daily connections between Casablanca and Accra. 'This will significantly boost tourism and trade, especially since Morocco is a very popular destination,' Ablakwa added. In their joint statement, both ministers affirmed their commitment to promoting tourism, trade, and economic development. They also revealed intentions to finalize a complete visa exemption agreement for holders of ordinary passports in the future. Beyond facilitating travel, the diplomatic engagement produced a seismic shift in Ghana's foreign policy. During the same visit, Ghana formally terminated its recognition of 'SADR,' the paper state proclaimed by the separatist Polisario Front, which it had supported since 1979. Ghana now fully backs Morocco's autonomy proposal for Western Sahara, describing it as 'the only realistic and sustainable basis for a mutually acceptable solution' to the regional dispute. The ministerial meetings yielded several additional cooperation agreements. Both countries signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations to enhance diplomatic coordination. Morocco pledged to increase scholarships for Ghanaian students from 90 to 140 annually across various disciplines through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI). 'This is excellent news for us,' Ablakwa remarked. 'Our universities will also welcome Moroccan students, particularly those interested in English-language programs and African studies. We'll soon have a specific agreement in place to facilitate this academic cooperation.' Economic collaboration featured prominently in discussions, with plans for a joint business forum focusing on fertilizer supply—a strategic sector given Ghana's annual import bill of over $3 billion in agricultural products. Both countries will deepen cooperation in agriculture and food security, with special attention to Ghana's cocoa sector. 'Ghana currently spends nearly $3 billion annually on food imports. Our new President is committed to reversing that trend,' said Ablakwa. 'Morocco's expertise in agriculture, agri-food, and fertilizer production gives it a clear advantage. Moroccan experts will soon collaborate with their Ghanaian counterparts to determine the best fertilizer type for our needs.' Transportation links also received attention during Ablakwa's meeting with Morocco's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh. Both parties discussed opportunities in air connectivity, maritime transport, and logistics. Ablakwa mentioned that President John Mahama hopes to make a state visit to Morocco soon, reciprocating King Mohammed VI's 2017 visit to Accra, during which 25 bilateral agreements were signed across key sectors. 'The borders in Africa must not be allowed to divide us—they can be bridges of connectivity. Diplomacy must make meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve,' Ablakwa concluded. The current agreement builds on earlier discussions between the two countries. In March, Ablakwa met with Morocco's Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, where they initially agreed to introduce a visa waiver for travelers from both countries. This development goes in line with Ghana's broader visa liberalization policy. In January, then-President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the removal of visa requirements for all African passport holders effective January 1, making Ghana the fifth African country to implement such a policy after Rwanda, Seychelles, Gambia, and Benin. Morocco and Ghana have steadily strengthened their bilateral relations in recent years. In January, Morocco was represented at Ghana's presidential inauguration, with Moroccan officials participating in the ceremony that saw President John Mahama take office. The two countries position their engagement as a model for strengthening intra-African partnerships.

‘Solidarity is Not a Crime': Global Outcry as Israel Illegally Seizes Gaza Flotilla
Rabat – In a move that has sparked global outrage, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) intercepted the Gaza-bound British-flagged vessel 'Madleen' in international waters in the early hours of Monday and detained all activists on board, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The ship, organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was carrying humanitarian aid and sailing peacefully toward Gaza when Israeli commandos boarded it about 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers) from the Palestinian shores. The activists, who have been closely followed and supported around the world online for weeks, aimed to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and deliver vital food and medical supplies to Palestinians facing severe shortages due to Israel's ongoing blockade. They knew the risks, especially as the last vessel 'Conscience' was unlawfully bombed by the IOF prior, and what was feared came to reality. SOS! the volunteers on 'Madleen' have been kidnapped by Israeli forces. Greta Thunberg is a Swedish citizen. Pressure their foreign ministries and help us keep them safe! Web: X : @SweMFA FB : @SweMFA IG : swedishmfa#AllEyesOnMadeleen — Freedom Flotilla Coalition (@GazaFFlotilla) June 9, 2025 'The Madleen was unlawfully boarded by the Israeli military. Quadcopters approached and attacked the people and the boat spraying a white chemical-like substance hurting their eyes…We have not yet heard from the 12 people who were aboard the Madleen. Their whereabouts remain unknown,' the coalition said in an official press release. According to Israeli authorities, the ship has been redirected to the port of Ashdod. The activists are expected to be deported after being forced to watch footage of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, a controversial and manipulative decision condemned by human rights groups. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz congratulated Israeli forces for seizing the peaceful vessel carrying vital aid and accused Thunberg and others of supporting Hamas, claims dismissed by many as baseless. All the passengers of the 'selfie yacht' are safe and unharmed. They were provided with sandwiches and water. The show is over. — Israel Foreign Ministry (@IsraelMFA) June 9, 2025 International backlash Governments and rights organizations around the world have denounced the unlawful seizure. France demanded the quick return of its six citizens aboard. 'As soon as the ship was boarded, we requested to be able to exercise our consular protection over them' and to 'visit' them as soon as they reached Israeli territory, 'in order to ascertain their situation and facilitate their rapid return to France', said France's foreign minister. Spain summoned Israel's top diplomat in protest, while Sweden offered what meany described as 'vague support' to Thunberg and other Swedish nationals, while Turkiye called the move a 'clear violation of international law.' Iran described the act as 'piracy,' and Amnesty International said Israel had no legal right to stop the vessel, especially since it was in international waters. 'As the occupying power, Israel has a legal obligation to ensure civilians in Gaza have sufficient food and medicine. They should have let Madleen deliver its humanitarian supplies to Gaza,' said Amnesty chief Agnes Callamard. The ship's supporters confirm the mission was peaceful and legal. Organizers accuse Israel of violating maritime and humanitarian law by blocking desperately needed aid. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who spoke to the crew during the incident, demanded their immediate release. 'Breaking the siege is a legal duty for states and a moral imperative for all of us,' she said. Meanwhile, the Jewish Council of Australia warned that Israel cannot be trusted with the activists' safety and urged the Australian government to intervene. The Left group in the European Parliament called the act a 'blatant violation of international law' and demanded the release of the crew. 'Solidarity is not a crime' Before setting sail, the 12 brave activists aboard the Madleen recorded video messages in case they were intercepted. In one, European Parliament member Rima Hassan predicted that Israel would handcuff the crew, take them to Ashdod, and interrogate them. She urged people to pressure governments to act. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition continues to insist that humanitarian aid must reach Gaza and that international pressure is needed to stop what many are calling a campaign of starvation and destruction. 'Solidarity is not a crime,' said one European political group. 'Genocide is.' The world now awaits to seehow governments will respond, and whether more aid ships will attempt to break the blockade in the days to come. the Gaza-bound British-flagged vessel 'Madleen' Regardless of the outcome, the Madleen did what international governments have failed to do so far — to take concrete action, break the long Israeli blockade, and bring much-needed food and medicine to those suffering inside. The activists on board the Madleen were not just delivering aid, they were sending a symbolic message against the ongoing Israeli genocidal war and the way Palestinians in Gaza are being treated. For months, people in Gaza have faced bombing, hunger, and being cut off from the rest of the world at the hands of Israel's genocidal forces. The crew's communication has been cut off and whereabouts unknown, leaving their families, friends, and the world anxiously waiting for updates on the critical situation.

Princess Lalla Hasnaa Represents King Mohammed VI at UN Ocean Conference
Doha – Princess Lalla Hasnaa is participating in the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Ocean (UNOC-3) in Nice as the representative of King Mohammed VI. The conference opened today and will continue until Friday, bringing together more than 50 heads of state and government, along with over 1,500 delegates from nearly 200 countries. The opening session featured speeches by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves Robles. This five-day event is co-organized by France and Costa Rica under the theme 'Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.' On Sunday evening, prior to the conference opening, Princess Lalla Hasnaa attended a dinner hosted by President Macron and his wife Brigitte in honor of the participating heads of state and government. She was welcomed by the French presidential couple upon her arrival at the dinner venue. The UNOC-3 follows previous conferences held in New York (2017) and Lisbon (2022). It aims to advance the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 14, focused on the sustainable use of ocean resources. The conference will examine various aspects related to oceans, from sustainable fishing to marine pollution, as well as interactions between climate and biodiversity. Unlike COP meetings or international treaty negotiations, no binding agreements will be signed in Nice. Instead, states will present voluntary commitments and a joint declaration. According to Costa Rica's UN ambassador Maritza Chan, the conference is expected to generate $100 billion in new public and private funding for sustainable ocean development. The gathering was preceded by three parallel events: a scientific summit that gathered over 2,000 scientists from June 3-6, the official presentation of a global coalition of coastal cities and regions on June 7, and a blue economy summit in Monaco on June 7-8. Participants are discussing a range of topics, including the high seas treaty, plastic pollution, overfishing, seabed mining, and decarbonization of maritime transport. Major political leaders attending include Brazil's President Lula da Silva, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Han Zheng, the second-highest official in the Chinese regime. France is expected to announce the creation of new marine protected areas, particularly in Polynesia, and the strengthening of existing ones, such as those protecting coral reefs. Additionally, an oceanographic mission called Neptune, involving ten countries with oceanographic and space agencies, will be officially launched and is scheduled to run from 2026 to 2040.
