Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife Wendi Deng puts on flirty display with Tom Brady during Bezos wedding festivities

Daily Mail10 hours ago

Tom Brady put on a flirty display with one of billionaire Rupert Murdoch 's glamorous ex-wives during Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez 's wedding festivities this week.
On Thursday, Brady, 47, was seen making his way to the couple's starry pre-wedding soiree in Venice, Italy with Wendi Deng, 56, by his side.
The duo — who are both believed to be single — enjoyed a lively chat during their evening trek to the historic Madonna dell'Orto.
Wendi looked smitten with the NFL hunk, often smiling and laughing while in his presence.
The Chinese-born American entrepreneur looked elegant for the party in a sleeveless, ruffled dress and designer heels.
Tom towered over her in a fitted beige blazer styled with black slacks, loafers and a white button-up shirt that highlighted his glowing tan.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner became a single man in 2022 following his shock split from supermodel Gisele Bundchen, 45.
The exes were married for 13 years and share two children — son Benjamin, 15, and daughter Vivian, 12.
In 2023, Brady began dating Russian runway maven Irina Shayk, 39.
However, the romance was short-lived and fizzled out in early 2024.
Around that same time, it was also rumored that he'd sparked up a romance with Kim Kardashian, 44.
The SKIMS founder even poked fun at the rumors while appearing on Netflix's The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady last year.
'I wasn't going to come tonight. But since I'm not here as Tom's date, there's still a good chance I might,' Kim told the crowd as Tom looked on.
She then hilariously alluded to her infamous 2007 sex tape as she shutdown the chatter about her and Brady's alleged romance once and for all.
'Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumors that we were. And I'd never say if we did or not—I'd just release the tape.'
As of 2025, Brady is believed to be single while ex Gisele has moved on with hunky Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, who she welcomed a child with in February.
Meanwhile, Wendi was media mogul Rupert Murdoch's third wife, and mother to his youngest children: Grace, 24, and Chloe, 22.
The pair were married for 14 years before divorcing back in 2013.
Wendi met Murdoch in 1997 when she landed an internship at Star TV, the Hong Kong station then owned by his company, News Corp.
The big boss had flown in to address the staff, and legend has it that during a sycophantic Q&A session, Deng broke ranks and put a critical question to one of the world's most successful businessmen: 'Why is your business strategy in China so bad?'
The then 66-year-old Murdoch was said to have been 'dazzled' by her.
In 1999, 17 days after divorcing Anna, his second wife of 32 years — mother of three of his children — he married Wendi on his yacht in New York.
The British singer Charlotte Church was flown in to serenade the happy couple and the media tycoon gave a speech, promising to look after his new bride 'for ever and ever', according to one guest.
The couple divorced in 2013 before Rupert went on to marry for the fourth time, to former supermodel Jerry Hall, 66, in 2016 before splitting in 2022. He is now married to molecular biologist Elena Zhukova, 68.
Wendi — who describes herself as 'an entrepreneur, investor, movie producer and art collector' — has had various romantic liaisons over the years.
In 2016, she was linked with the then 30-year-old British violinist Charlie Siem after the pair attended the Giambattista Valli fashion show in Paris.
Then, aged 48, she had a two-year affair with a then 21-year-old Hungarian model, Bertold Zahoran — a man 64 years younger than her ex-husband Murdoch.
They were seen frolicking on beaches in St Barts, but that romance came to an end in 2018.
She even once had to deny claims she was having a secret relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying 'I've never even met him'; and dismissed claims that she was a spy for the Chinese government.
In December 2020, she was pictured in St Barts with another hunky younger man who was never identified.
As of 2025, Wendi is believed to be single, with New York publicist and gossip columnist R. Couri Hay previously claiming that she has 'always been mysterious, but socially she's become clandestine.'
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are set to tie the knot in Saturday in Venice, Italy after a two-year engagement.
The Amazon billionaire and his bride-to-be are said to have invited 200 people to their three-day Italian wedding, which kicked off on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a copy of the couple's invite was leaked with one very specific request made on behalf of the couple.
They've asked guests not to buy them any presents and told them they'll be making donations to multiple charities working to stop Venice from sinking on attendees' behalf instead.
The star-studded guest list includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, and Tom Brady.
Bezos is worth around $224.6 billion and is thought to be spending tens of millions on his wedding.
'If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax,' one gigantic banner read in St. Mark's Square.
Greenpeace and the UK-based collective Everyone Hates Elon have joined protests in Venice attempting to disrupt, or even prevent, the planned wedding celebrations of Amazon founder Bezos this week.
'Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world yet is reported to pay a 1.1 percent true tax rate,' the two groups said in a joint statement. 'The multi-million-dollar wedding is reportedly happening over three days, with the wedding ring alone worth as much as $5million.'
A spokesperson from Everyone Hates Elon said: 'As governments talk about hard choices and struggle to fund public services, Jeff Bezos can afford to shut down half a city for days on end just to get married.'
Venice mayor Luigi Brugnaro and regional governor Luca Zaia have spoken out in favor of the nuptials, which have been dubbed, 'the wedding of the century,' pointing out that the celebrations are expected to bring $23-34million to local businesses.
'This is a city that handles 150,000 people a day,' Zaia told Italian daily Corriere della Sera. 'George Clooney, François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, Alexandre Arnault, Elton John and many others got married here.'
Bezos has also pledged to make sizable charity donations, including $1.16million to Corila - an academic consortium dedicated to studying Venice's lagoon ecosystem - according to Corriere della Sera and Italy's ANSA news agency.
Earlier this month, anti-Bezos banners were hung in Venice from St. Mark's Tower with 'Bezos' in blue capital letters and a red X over it as part of a 'No Space for Bezos' campaign, a play on Bezos' Blue Origin spaceflight venture.

Inside the Zurich grande dame hotel where the Lionesses will stay for Euro 2025

The UEFA Women's Euros will be held in Switzerland this year and England's champions are in for a treat as they defend their title. The Lionesses' den for the tournament will be the five-star grande dame of Zurich, the Dolder Grand. This turreted fairytale castle of a hotel, which opened in 1899 and has hosted iconic figures from Sophia Loren to Nelson Mandela, is all about luxury. The squad will find Lamborghinis and Bentleys in the car park rather than Fiats or Vauxhalls, while hallways are lined with valuable artworks. Guests will be wearing Hermès or Chanel and carrying the results of a day's shopping in Zurich's gilded streets. Two Norman Foster-designed wings made of steel and glass flank the hotel's belle époque old building, tastefully blending contemporary design with the likes of sweeping staircases and opulent chandeliers. All 175 rooms are large for Zurich and made for lounging. Most have south-facing balconies and offer views of the lake or forest, while even entry-level rooms have bathtubs. The players may well be hoping for a suite, as these come with their own saunas and whirlpool bathtubs, as well as butler service. This time, in short, England has stepped its hotel game up a gear. The four-star, more corporate Lensbury in Teddington was the Lionesses' base back in 2022, when England hosted the tournament. This certainly wasn't slumming it, but with off-season prices there starting at around £130 it isn't fair to compare it to the Dolder, whose comparative rate is £648. For the 2023 World Cup, business hotel brand the Crowne Plaza was chosen, in Terrigal, Australia. These clearly served as excellent bases, as the team reached the World Cup final in 2023 and beat Germany 2-1 in the Euros final in 2022. Perhaps it was these successes, and the subsequent surge in support, that has led to the decision to book a hotel befitting of this century's most successful England team. A group from the FA went to 23 different base-camp options before deciding the Dolder was the one. Manager Sarina Wiegman described finding the right 'home from home' as 'one of the most important elements for tournament football'. It's certainly a much more characterful choice than the utility-focused hotels often chosen as the accommodation for sports teams. And so, some 55 people, including players and staff, will be heading to the Dolder, deep in the forest on the Adlisberg mountain. Sitting high above Lake Zurich, many rooms have breathtaking views over the water towards the Glarner Alps, but as remote as this may sound, the players will only have a 20-minute drive to their training ground at Sportanlage Au. Plus, the squad can get into the city in around 10 minutes, if they have time for some sightseeing (I would suggest the Fifa Museum might be of interest). The hotel's gym and spa is the perfect place to recuperate after a tough game. Captain Leah Williamson and her teammates can choose between doing laps in the 25-metre indoor pool, or relaxing those muscles in the sauna or outdoor hot tub while enjoying views over the lake. Fellow guests may see them relaxing on one of the loungers on the terrace, or testing their mettle in the cold plunge pool. The hotel also offers forest bathing sessions and guided meditation (ideal for getting in the zone), as well as yoga, Pilates and even ballet lessons. If I can insist upon anything, though, it would be that the players treat themselves to a massage, which starts at £190 for 60 minutes. I came out feeling like I had just discovered what a massage should really feel like. The squad will be travelling with two chefs and a nutritionist, who will work with the hotel's catering team to create the breakfasts, lunches and dinners of champions. A pity not to be able to enjoy two-Michelin starred The Restaurant, while even the more casual Saltz may prove difficult to resist, with its hearty central European dishes such as Wiener schnitzel and potato gratin. Perhaps after the final. The choice of venue will also help meet UEFA's sustainability recommendations, which encourage squads to use low-emission transport rather than fly to the games. England's opening fixture against France on Saturday July 5 and the next one against the Netherlands on Wednesday July 9 will both be at Zurich's Stadion Letzigrund, while the last group stage match against Wales will be in neighbouring St Gallen, 50 miles away. The players could even use Switzerland's famously efficient train system if they make it to the final in Basel. The men's team failed on this count in 2024, when its choice of the beautiful but remote GolfResort Weimarer Land in central Germany meant they had to fly to many of their matches. The Dolder's manager described hosting the Lionesses as an 'honour' for the hotel, so they are sure to receive the warmest of welcomes and, as in the most recent World Cup, will have an area decorated in the colours of England. Let's hope the team does as well in this tournament as it did last time – if only to stay in the lap of luxury a little longer.

Al Pacino on how he got his Modigliani film off the ground after 30 years

He is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, having made his name in the 1970s gangster classic The Godfather. Yet, despite his fame and Oscars recognition, Al Pacino struggled for 30 years to make a movie about one of the 20th century's greatest artists because 'art films' are 'always difficult to get off the ground'. He refused to give up on a drama about Amedeo Modigliani, a tortured genius who faced repeated rejection before his life was cut short in 1920 by tubercular meningitis, aged 35. The film, Modigliani – Three Days on the Wing of Madness, is directed by Johnny Depp, and will be released in cinemas in July. The Italian painter-sculptor had struggled to sell his work while battling poverty and an addiction to drink and drugs. Today, demand for his elongated portraits and sensual nudes is such that one of his paintings – Reclining Nude, from 1917-18 – sold for a record $170m (£113m) in New York in 2015. Pacino said of Modigliani: 'There is something in this story that is not just identifiable with [the] artist. There is that connection to rejection in all of us, so it gives audiences something they can relate to.' Set in war-torn Paris in 1916, it is a fantasy that chronicles 72 hours in the chaotic, bohemian life of Modigliani as he tries desperately to escape the squalor of Montmartre and find recognition as an artist by meeting a famous collector, played by Pacino, who said: 'Unfortunately, it doesn't turn out to be as he expected.' Depp cast the Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio as Modigliani, saying: 'When I saw Riccardo, his eyes reminded me of Oliver Reed. I love Oliver Reed. He was dangerous and he was funny and he was cool … In Riccardo, I see something of Oliver Reed, as well as of Marcello Mastroianni, the classic movie star.' Pacino recalled that he and Martin Scorsese had tried in vain to develop the Modigliani film. At one point, Depp was to play the artist with Pacino directing, but still it did not happen. Now their actor-director roles have been reversed in a production made possible through a collaboration with the producer Barry Navidi, with whom Pacino has worked on several acclaimed films, including The Merchant of Venice, a 2004 film in which he played Shylock. The writers Jerzy Kromolowski and Mary Olson-Kromolowski adapted a drama that was originally written for Pacino decades ago by the late playwright Dennis McIntyre, who 'had a great love of Modigliani', Pacino said. 'You could feel it in his play.' Asked whether he regretted not taking the lead role originally, Pacino said: 'I wanted to do it, but sometimes the timing just doesn't work out … Sometimes when your career is in a certain place, you are fielding all sorts of ideas that come your way and you can lose track of things because projects take so much time to evolve. 'I can name about four or five of them that just went in different directions and never got off the ground because, in the end, it's a collective – a matter of getting a writer, director, producer etc together to make it happen. 'If you just want to interpret a role, finding a writer with the same level of enthusiasm, a talented director to come onboard along with a skilled producer is challenging, but I did find that in Scarface. I found that connection in Modigliani as well. Sign up to First Edition Our morning email breaks down the key stories of the day, telling you what's happening and why it matters after newsletter promotion 'It's an art film, which is always difficult to get off the ground. However, it's about an artist and those films have been sought after. There have certainly been some great films about artists over the years.' Pacino singled out movies about Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Munch and Toulouse-Lautrec, the latter played by José Ferrer: 'Each one of those films had their own context and were independent of each other, different in ways, but at the core that feeling of being judged and undervalued are there.' He recalled approaching Navidi about Modigliani: 'I knew Barry had an interest in films with an edge and sophistication.' He had also suggested that he speak to Depp about directing it: 'I have known Johnny through the years and thought he would find something there that resonated with him. 'It took a few years to get that script together and, as we all know, independent films take a while to develop. You really have to stick with something in this day and age in those early stages.' Modigliani – Three Days on the Wing of Madness is in cinemas from 11 July. Special nationwide previews on 10 July will feature a discussion with Depp and Scamarcio on the universal plight of the artist, recorded at Tate Modern
