Moment Tube driver is caught KNITTING and watching videos on his phone while driving commuters

Daily Mail14 hours ago

An easy-going tube driver was caught knitting and watching videos on his phone as he drove commuters around one of the busiest transport networks in the world.
Striking footage shows the London Underground operative hard at work on a lion-themed garment as he pulls slowly out of Hendon Central Station in February 2025.
The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure.
A witness who filmed the spectacle - which took place on a Northern Line train - commented disapprovingly, 'look at him... watching TV, pressing a couple of buttons'.
He went on to reference the money the driver earns each year and claimed he can go on strike 'whenever he wants'.
The witness later recalled: 'I was so surprised.
'I didn't expect to see someone meant to be at work being so casual about the job.
'Especially because at the time, there were tube strikes going on so it felt mad they were complaining about the job then relaxing on it.

'And, although I don't know how automatic the system is for the tubes, I remember thinking that this person has the passengers' lives in their hands.
'It felt crazy that this driver wouldn't take that more seriously.'
Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the driver in the video was sacked from his job.
A spokesman said: 'This video was made earlier in the year.
'We carried out a full investigation and the person involved no longer works at TfL.'
Many social media users have taken to TikTok to share their thoughts on the video.
One person said: 'He's risking his career for a bit of TV.'
Another added: 'The driver shouldn't be doing that, they should be focussing - that's dangerous.'
But a number of people offered their support to the tube worker amid the criticism.
Someone said: 'What do you want him to be doing? Steering?'

Two skydivers die in 'tragic accident' at Devon airfield

Two skydivers have died at an airfield in Devon. Emergency services were called to the area of Dunkeswell Aerodrome at around 1pm on Friday 13 June. Two people were confirmed dead at the scene, and their families have been informed. "Scene guards remain in place at the airfield and inquiries are ongoing by the relevant agencies," a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Sky News, urging anyone who may have information that could help to come forward. The Civil Aviation Authority said it was aware of the incident, but could not comment further. The Air Accident Investigation Branch said the incident would be the matter for British Skydiving, which has not responded to a request for comment. But in a statement sent to its members, and seen by DevonLive, chief executive Robert Gibson confirmed it had been "notified of a tragic accident in which two jumpers lost their lives". "Our deepest condolences go to their families, friends and the entire skydiving community," it said.

Posting a series of photographs on Instagram, Kay said: 'Well what can we say!!! Congratulations @tessdaly on your MBE. 'All the hard work and huge effort you put into everything you do has been recognised by the King. 'Being on Strictly from the start when our babies weren't even born just proves how well you've done. Now they're almost 21 and 16 and we've all enjoyed this journey together!! 'Also, bravo everyone at @bbcstrictly and @claudiawinkle for consistently producing the best show every year!! She reached new levels of fame as co-host of the BBC One Saturday night dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing, which she presented alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth until 2014, three years before his death at the age of 89. Traitors presenter Winkleman joined Daly as Strictly co-host, with the pair picking up the best entertainment award at the 2024 Bafta TV ceremony. On being made MBE, Daly told the PA News Agency: 'I cried when I opened the letter, because I just I couldn't believe it. 'It feels like the most wonderful honour, because when you work as a broadcaster, you're part of people's viewing habits. 'Broadcasting is without a doubt a collective effort. I've been really fortunate to work with some of the very best production teams that there are in the business. And so my biggest thanks is to them, because you're only as good as your team.'
