A NURSERY worker who allegedly punched, grabbed and pinched 23 babies would get "moody" if she couldn't vape at work, a court heard.
Roksana Lecka allegedly left the children with scratches to their faces and necks and pinch marks on their inner legs and stomachs.

The 22-year-old is accused of "badly harming" the tots over a six month period while working at the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, South West London.
The nursery, which charges up to £1,900 a month to look after children aged between 18 months and two years, follows the Montessori method of teaching.
Lecka told Kingston Crown Court how she would "smoke cannabis quite regularly with my boyfriend", Mail Online reports.
She said: "At that time I was really addicted to vapes, I would smoke two little crystal disposables a day.
"I was vaping in nursery. Because if I did not smoke I would get agitated and fed up. I couldn't keep asking to go to the toilet. Any opportunity I would take. I would be really moody and fed up.
'It would be a couple of puffs and then I'd put it away… I would put it in my bra."
She also told the court how she was "so tired" at the time and was not getting any sleep.
Lecka claimed she was "addicted" to her boyfriend so was "over-prioritising" him.
Her lawyer also claimed she was "worn out, had bad period pains, was short of energy, she was not her normally bubbly self".
But prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC told jurors that smoking cannabis and not being able to vape were "excuses" for the alleged offences.
She added: "It is clear her actions are deliberate or at the very last careless, but on most occasions we say deliberate.
"There are, of course, some clips where Ms Lecka - as we put it - keeps going back for more."
Jurors have been told 23 of the children were harmed at the nursery, while a 24th count of child cruelty refers to an offence that allegedly took place before Lecka started.
The court also heard how there were no apparent safeguarding issues when Lecka was hired.
But last summer, CCTV of the baby room appeared to show the worker pinch a child - leaving them with red marks, it was said.
In footage played to the court, Lecka can also apparently be seen pinching the legs, back and under arm of a girl who can be seen crying.
Further footage allegedly showed her pinching the side of a girl's face and grabbing her hair.
Lecka can be seen vaping in another clip before she took a baby from a crib and pinched and punched her side, jurors heard.
One alleged victim was sat at a table when Lecka repeatedly pinched her - causing the girl to cry, it was said.
She then allegedly grabbed the girl by the arm and pulled her hair so her head made contact with the table.
The court heard Lecka was "looking around" at other members of staff to see who was "watching when these assaults occur".
One colleague reported seeing the worker assault a boy by pinching his legs - leading the headteacher to check CCTV.
Jurors were told the footage showed Lecka also pinching his nose, body, wrist, and mouth.
Police trawled through a month's worth of CCTV and discovered 23 babies had been "badly treated in some way", it was said.
Lecka was arrested on July 5 last year and said in a prepared statement: "I deny assaulting any children at the Riverside Nursery…I went into work that day and had a normal day. There were no accidents where any child seemed hurt.
"We have procedures for the handling of the children, which I adhered to. I am unaware how any injury to these children were caused."
Lecka has admitted two charges of child cruelty but denies 21 further offences.
The trial continues.

Block star-turned-sex worker Suzi Taylor shocks followers as she shares eye-popping lingerie photos - after being granted bail amid drug-trafficking charges
Former reality TV star Suzi Taylor stunned followers on Friday when she posed in very racy white lingerie for a series of jaw-dropping selfies. The Block star, 53, who was previously revealed in court to now be a sex worker, uploaded the shock images to Instagram as she struck a sultry pose while sprawled across a bed. Opting for a glamorous makeup look, Suzi fanned her dark tresses out around her as she contorted her figure and highlighted her chest in the images. The lacy frock she wore left very little to the imagination as it featured sheer panels and a plunging neckline. 'I just want to be one of your girls tonight,' Suzi wrote next to the racy reel, including '#lovehim' and '#king' in the caption. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after Suzi made a surprise return to social media after she was granted bail while facing drug-trafficking charges. She took to Instagram this week to share a photo of herself posing for a selfie with her 'best friend' and 'saviour' who has helped her through her darkest times. 'I have had my best friend walk beside me thru every storm never leaving my side,' she captioned the post alongside her pet dog. 'My brave little companion has shown more courage loyalty & love than I could ever imagine.' Suzi looked happy and relaxed following a beach-side stroll, posing alongside her beloved dog on the sand. Suzi recently faced a Brisbane court over a bizarre 'honey trap' kidnapping, the details of which had the whole television industry aghast. The former reality star and her co-accused Ali Ebrahimi were eventually cleared on all charges, including extortion, deprivation of liberty, fraud and assault, and we do not suggest either of them committed a crime. But the accusations were alarming, drawing attention to the fact Suzi, just five years after her sudden rise to fame, was clearly a troubled woman earning a living as a sex worker. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Suzi Taylor (@suzitaylorofficial) That was 2020 - now it's 2025 and she continues to face legal troubles. In March, she pleaded guilty to charges of trespassing, stealing and common assault but escaped jail and only had to pay a fine. She had forced entry into a home the previous October, demanding property from someone who was no longer living there. She pushed a woman and then fled on an e-scooter with a shopping bag full of stolen goods. At the time, Suzi had just been released from prison where she'd served 50 days for evading police. She is currently on bail facing drug-trafficking charges and only recently had another conviction for meth possession added to her rap sheet. The last time Suzi had lucidly opened up about her personal life was in her final social media post for 2024 in which she revealed she was estranged from her three children, aged in their teens and twenties. She said her downfall had forced her to redefine what family is, and expressed hope for a more positive 2025. But fate had different plans for her. Taking to Instagram at the time, the former Block star revealed she is still estranged from her three children Bella, 20, Zac, 18, and Alex, 16, following 'years' of legal woes. Posting a selfie to her followers, Suzi shared the past few years, which have seen her mired in legal woes, had taught her a 'heartbreaking lesson'. 'The past few years have been filled with heartbreak. Losing loved ones, the absence of my children in my life,' she began the expansive post. She claimed family members had cut ties with her due to exaggerated media reports without 'ever seeking to understand the truth'. 'This experience has been a heartbreaking lesson in the meaning of family and unconditional love,' she wrote. The candid post continued with Suzi admitting the situation had forced her to redefine what family is. 'Even in the midst of such profound loss and isolation, I have found resilience,' Suzi said. 'I have learned that family isn't always defined by blood; it can be the unexpected souls who step in during our darkest moments.' Finishing the expansive post, Suzi said she was hopeful for a more positive 2025. 'As we enter 2025, I carry with me the lessons of the past and the hope for brighter days ahead,' she said. 'Here's to healing, new connections, and redefining what family means. May this year bring us all the strength to embrace the love that truly matters. #newbeginnings.'

Mystery as influencer is found dead in the back of a car in university parking lot two days after heading to a promotional event
Police in India have launched a murder probe after a controversial influencer was found dead in the back of a car two days after heading to a promotional event. Kanchan Kumari, famous for stirring controversy with her videos posted to her nearly 400,000 followers, was tragically found dead on Wednesday night in a car park at Adesh Medical University in Bathinda, Punjab province, India. Locals called the police after reporting a foul smell coming from the car. Police found and identified the body after searching the car, which was registered to an address in Ludhiana, a city around 80 miles away. The cops' investigation revealed she had left her home on Monday, telling her family she was travelling to Bathinda to attend a promotional event. But her family reportedly told cops they hadn't heard from her since. Local media reported that CCTV footage showed a man driving the car Kumari's body was found. It was reported that the video shows the man parking the car before walking away. Officials believe she may have been killed somewhere else, before being moved to the university's car park. Narendra Singh, Superintendent of Police for Ludhiana, said: 'Last night, a woman's body was found in the parking lot of Adesh Hospital in Bathinda. '[She] was a well-known social media influencer, known for posting videos using obscene language. We are investigating the matter from all aspects.' Singh added: 'Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently not possible to determine the presence of any injury marks. 'The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for post-mortem.' He also said that the number plates attached to her car appeared to be fake. It comes after another popular social media influencer's cause of death was revealed following her passing just two days before her 25th birthday. Misha Agrawal the founder of Mish Cosmetics passed away on April 24. A notification of her death on her Instagram page revealed the heartache of her loss. Agrawal's sister released a statement on Instagram Tuesday, confirming she died by suicide after feeling 'worthless' over not reaching 1million followers. She wrote: 'My little baby sister had built her world around Instagram and her followers, with a single goal of reaching 1 million followers and gaining loving fans. 'When her followers started decreasing, she became distraught and felt worthless. Since April, she had been deeply depressed, often hugging me and crying, saying…'what will I do If my followers decrease? My career will be over.' 'I tried to console her, explaining that this isn't her entire world, It's just a side job, and if it doesn't work out, it's not the end. I reminded her of her talents.' 'I advised her to view Instagram as mere entertainment and not let it consume her. I urged her to focus on her happiness and let go of anxiety and depression. 'Unfortunately, my little sister didn't listen and became so consumed by Instagram and followers that she left our world forever. Tragically, she became so overwhelmed that she took her own life, leaving our family devastated.'

Nursery worker accused of hurting babies 'got fed up if she couldn't vape'
A Montessori nursery worker accused of deliberately hurting dozens of toddlers in her care says she was addicted to weed and vapes at the time and 'would get fed up' if she could not smoke, a court has heard. Roksana Lecka, 22, is said to have 'badly harmed' 23 children while employed at the £1,900-a-month Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, south-west London, between January and June last year. She is also accused of assaulting or ill-treating another infant at the Little Munchkins Montessori Nursery in Hounslow, west London, in October 2023. During her trial at Kingston Crown Court, jurors have seen CCTV footage of Lecka appearing to pinch children, allegedly leaving one 'writhing' in pain and drawing gasps from parents watching from the public gallery. Lecka got the job at Riverside, which follows the Montessori method of teaching, involving children's 'natural interests' instead of formal practices, in January last year. Jurors have heard there were no concerns raised when she applied, complete with a reference from another nursery as well as the families of two children she had looked after. It was a colleague who eventually raised a alarm, claiming to have seen Lecka assaulting a boy by pinching his legs. Jurors have heard a review of CCTV footage also showed her pinching his nose, body, wrist and mouth. The court has heard evidence that Lecka was not her 'normal bubbly self' towards the end of June, MailOnline reports. She told jurors from the witness box she was addicted to cannabis and vapes and would regularly stay up until the early hours with her boyfriend. Giving evidence, Lecka said she would 'smoke cannabis quite regularly with my boyfriend' at the time. She said: 'I was really addicted to vapes, I would smoke two little crystal disposables a day. I was vaping in nursery. Because if I did not smoke, I would get agitated and fed up. 'I couldn't keep asking to go to the toilet. Any opportunity I would take. I would be really moody and fed up.' Of one alleged assault, in which she is said to have 'smacked' a young girl while vaping, she said: 'I had two to three tokes, that would be my normal amount. I did not smack her. I put my arm around her really quickly. 'I do not accept smacking her in the face. I think she's distressed and tearful because she's just woken up from a nap.' But in her closing speech to jurors, prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC asked them to consider whether the footage showed 'innocuous or innocent squeezes', like Lecka claims, or 'pinches' and 'rough treatment'. 'If she was tired, grumpy and feeling put upon by others, is what we see her taking it out on children by hurting them?' she added. 'There are, of course, some clips where Ms Lecka – as we put it – keeps going back for more.' Arlette Piercy, defending, told jurors in her closing address that there were times when Lecka 'could simply not cope – she had not slept enough, she had been burning the candle at both ends, she was under too much pressure and she cracked'. 'That you may think is the picture here, rather than the prosecution seeks to make of a young woman in a sense… rotten to the core, who set out on a sad sustained campaign of abuse,' she added. Lecka denies 16 counts of child cruelty. The court has heard she has admitted seven similar offences. The trial continues.
