Panthers acquire Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey in hypothetical trade offer from ESPN
The Carolina Panthers may have what it takes to reel in one of the biggest fishes on the market.
With a few NFL stars still possibly up for grabs, ESPN enlisted the help of four analysts and experts to cook up some spicy hypothetical trade proposals. Among the players included in the simulation was Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who Benjamin Solak connected to the Panthers.
Solak offered up a 2026 fourth-round pick from Carolina for Ramsey, and wrote the following:
Ramsey is a fan of Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who coached him in Los Angeles, and the Panthers have a big need at safety opposite new addition Tre'von Moehrig. As 30-year-old Ramsey enters the latter part of his career, safety might be a better position for him.
If he has the legs to play corner, starting roles on the outside and in the slot are up for grabs in Carolina. The team made huge additions across its defensive front this offseason but still needs help on the back end.
As Solak alluded to, Ramsey recently heaped a bit of praise on Evero, calling him one of the best coaches he's ever been around. The two spent three seasons together with the Los Angeles Rams, when Evero served as the team's safeties coach, secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator.
One of those three seasons ended with a Lombardi Trophy—as Ramsey, Evero and the Rams pulled out a 23-20 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Evero would then be hired as the Denver Broncos' defensive coordinator at the start of the next campaign in 2022.
But back to the simulation—where ESPN Dolphins beat reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques favored Solak's offer from the Panthers over two from the Rams and one from the Los Angeles Chargers:
Considering the Dolphins gave up only a backup tight end (Long) and a third-round pick to acquire Ramsey in the first place, Solak's offer is the closest thing to breaking even in terms of draft capital. An additional fourth-round pick from Carolina gives Miami a whopping seven selections in the first four rounds of the 2026 draft, not including any compensatory picks.
Acquiring Ramsey would also entail some number-crunching for the Panthers and Dolphins. Ramsey still has four years remaining on his contract—with cap hits of $16.6 million in 2025, $25 million in 2026, $26.8 million in 2027 and $36.1 million in 2028.
So, yeah, adding a three-time first-team All-Pro corner won't be that easy.

Bank of America predicts major housing market changes are coming soon
Homebuyers have faced an unpredictable housing market over the past few years. Rising home prices and stubborn mortgage rates have prompted many Americans to delay their plans for homeownership as they wait for housing conditions to improve. Broad economic uncertainty and the ongoing housing market gridlock have dampened buyer confidence, leaving the outlook for 2025 up in the air. Although housing inventory is finally increasing, weak demand could suppress housing sales. Don't miss the move: SIGN UP for TheStreet's FREE daily newsletter Sticky mortgage rates have shattered expectations for a strong housing rebound this year, but the overall market outlook is on the upswing from increased inventory and price deceleration. Though the second half of the year remains uncertain, many experts believe housing conditions will improve, potentially bringing an end to years of stagnation. Bank of America anticipates a few crucial shifts to watch this year. Image source: Acker/Bloomberg via Getty Images Following years of stagnation in the housing market, 2025 was anticipated to bring notable improvements. However, persistent inflation, trade tensions, recession concerns, and financial instability have kept mortgage rates elevated, constraining home sales. Housing affordability is one of the biggest barriers to homeownership, and elevated mortgage rates and inflated home prices have made saving for a down payment and finding a home within budget more difficult. Bank of America recently released its 2025 Homebuyer Insights Report, and it found that buyers are softening on the housing market outlook, but still holding out for better conditions. More than half of prospective homebuyers believe the housing market is in a better position than it was a year ago. And while 75% of buyers expect mortgage rates and housing prices to improve in the next year, they are also holding off on purchasing a home until then. Head of Consumer Lending Matt Vernon notes that despite a challenging market, most buyers are planning to purchase a home in the future. "The uncertainty among homebuyers is real, but so is their resilience," he said. "Buyers are navigating a complex environment with rising costs, fluctuating rates, and mixed signals, but many are still planning ahead." First-time homeowners - predominantly Gen Z and Millennials - have struggled to buy a home amid rising prices and heightened competition. The average first-time homeowner age skyrocketed to 38 in 2024 as younger buyers were increasingly priced out of the housing market. In order to afford a home, younger buyers have been encouraged to lower their expectations and make concessions on their homeownership plans. "Even with the challenges they face, younger generations still understand the long-term value owning a home offers them, and many are doing what it takes to get there," Vernon continued. "They are finding creative ways to afford down payments and working hard to improve their financial futures." Though the housing market has been difficult for younger homebuyers to navigate, many remain hopeful that the market will turn around soon - and are finding innovative ways to tackle homeownership in the meantime. Panthers look to even the Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers in Game 2
EDMONTON, Alberta — Trailing the Stanley Cup Final after losing the opener in overtime, the defending champion Florida Panthers look to even things up in Game 2 at the Edmonton Oilers. Winning on the road has not been a problem for them so far, going 8-3 away from home, the third loss coming on Leon Draisaitl's power-play goal following a puck-over-the-glass penalty on Tomas Nosek. The task of going into a packed, loud arena is just another challenge the Panthers are embracing. 'It's that 'us against the world' mindset, but you really feel it especially being down in a series,' winger Matthew Tkachuk said. 'Us against the 20-plus guys you're playing against, the 20,000 that are in the rink, the 20,000 that are outside the rink. It's just us against everybody. That's what makes playing on the road so fun and rewarding when you can get a win.' If they do, it will wrestle home-ice advantage away from the Oilers with play shifting to Sunrise for Games 3 and 4. One of the toughest parts of being on the road is trying to defend Draisaitl and Connor McDavid when they're on the ice together. Coach Kris Knoblauch did that some late in Game 1, and it's difficult for Paul Maurice to counter without the last line change to control matchups. 'When they play together, they're obviously very creative players and they'll make everyone around them better,' Florida defenseman Seth Jones said. 'They like to look for each other, especially when they play together, little give-and-goes, things like that, and then they're dangerous off the rush, too. Whether they're playing together or apart, it's a five-man unit defending.' The Oilers remain without Zach Hyman, out for the remainder of the playoffs after his right wrist got dislocated on a hit during the last round. The Panthers could be close to full strength if A.J. Greer can return, and Maurice said fourth-liner Jonah Gadjovich is good to go after missing part of Game 1.
