Spacetoon celebrates its 25th anniversary with the addition of Ahmed El-Ghandour, aka 'El Da7ee7,' to its lineup.
Mar 17, 2025
Spacetoon, the Arabic channel specialising in animation and children's programming, has announced that Ahmed El-Ghandour, better known as 'El Da7ee7,' will be joining its network with a new animated show, 'Akher Da7ee7 3ala El Ard'. This collaboration comes as Spacetoon celebrates 25 years of entertaining and educating young audiences. While details about the show remain scarce, further updates are expected soon.
Ahmed El-Ghandour is widely recognised for making complex scientific and historical concepts accessible through engaging and humorous storytelling. His YouTube channel, which has amassed approximately 2.11 million subscribers, became a widely-acclaimed cornerstone of Arabic-language educational content, having earned El-Ghandour a nomination for the IBC 2019 Social Impact Award.
This isn't the first time El-Ghandour brought his unique style to new platforms. In 2020, he launched 'Mathaf El-Da7ee7' or 'El Da7ee7's Museum' on MBC's Shahid, where he used his signature storytelling style to focus on historical topics.

The World's Largest Modern Arab Art Collection Is in This Doha Museum

With over 9,000 works, Mathaf isn't just a museum—it's loud, political, playful, and deeply personal. If your Qatar itinerary is heavy on sunsets, souqs, and skyline views—pause for a moment and make space for a different kind of thrill: the electric jolt of contemporary Arab art. Tucked inside Doha's Education City, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art isn't just a museum—it's the region's brainiest, boldest, and most rebellious creative clubhouse. And somehow, it still feels like a secret. Home to the world's largest collection of modern and contemporary Arab art (over 9,000 works, if you're counting), Mathaf (Arabic for 'museum') is anything but quiet. It's where painters, poets, rebels, and rule-breakers from across the Arab world come to have a say—and a moment. Think surrealist paintings from Syria, feminist sculptures from Sudan, abstract experiments from Iraq, and political pop from Palestine. Opened in 2010 as part of Qatar Museums' sweeping cultural vision, this under-the-radar institution features sharply curated exhibitions with a refreshingly unpretentious energy. You don't need an art degree to get it. Just curiosity—and maybe a little time to let it all sink in. And this being Doha, of course there's more: salons, panels, screenings, and the kind of people-watching that could launch a whole new personality era. Whether you drop in for 30 minutes or settle in for the full afternoon, Mathaf will leave you thinking, questioning, and probably Googling at least three new artists on your ride home. Located just 20 minutes from the city center (and, pro tip: very near some very good coffee), this museum is a must for anyone who wants to get under the surface of the Arab world—not just past or present, but future too. So go ahead. Skip the expected. And step inside a space where art isn't hung up in a vacuum. It's loud, political, playful, and deeply personal.

Lebanon's vinyl maverick NeighborsByMusic delivers jazzy house, Brazilian bossa nova with funk and classic Arabic tunes. Jun 07, 2025 For our latest Select, we have Lebanese vinyl maverick, NeighborsByMusic. Her penchant for discovering new sounds has led her to build an extensive repertoire over the years, blending diverse music styles from different cultures. Her sets often incorporate influences from oriental, Brazilian funk, hip-hop and jazz. NeighborsByMusic treats us to a special vinyl-only set–initially recorded at JIVE in Beirut–that meshes together threads of Brazilian bossa nova, funk, and Arabic oldies from Simone and Hamid El Shaeri with 90s hip-hop and a hint of jazzy house here and there. The colossal proportions of the set, fitting together a multitude of different sounds, are somewhat reflective of the organised chaos that Lebanon is known for. Featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of feel-good tunes, such as Ezra Collective's 'Palm Wine', Mtume's 'Juicy Fruit', and Simone's 'Mabsouta', the set ends abruptly, as if alluding to a typical electricity cut at midnight in Beirut.
