Pogacar safely secures maiden Dauphine title
Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar secured his first Criterium du Dauphine title after finishing third in Sunday's final stage.The reigning Tour de France and road world champion began the final day one minute and one second ahead of his closest rival Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard thanks to back-to-back stage wins on Friday and Saturday.And the UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider safely negotiated the 133.3km stage from Val-d'Arc to the Plateau du Mont-Cenis to finish alongside Vingegaard, 34 seconds behind stage winner Lenny Martinez."It's been a really amazing week," said Pogacar, who topped the overall classification by 58 seconds."Once again today, the team did a great job. We managed to defend the [yellow] jersey and we can go home happy and prepare for the Tour [de France]."There's a lot of positives from this week and we turned all the negatives into positives, so it's all good."There's not much to do ahead of the Tour. I rest a bit, maybe some extra work for the time-trial, and then I'm ready."The 26-year-old becomes the third reigning world champion to win the race, after French pair Louison Bobet and Bernard Hinault in 1955 and 1981 respectively.German Florian Lipowitz completed the overall podium ahead of Belgian Remco Evenepoel.French rider Martinez, 21, got past Spaniard Enric Mas eight kilometres from the finish of the mountainous stage to add to his wins in the Tour de Romandie and Paris-Nice earlier this year.Attention will now switch to the Tour de France which begins on Saturday, 5 July.
Meanwhile, Marlen Reusser defended the leader's yellow jersey which she had held from the opening stage to win the women's Tour de Suisse.The Movistar rider held a three-second advantage over last year's winner Demi Vollering going into Sunday's 129km circuit around Kussnacht am Rigi and launched a solo attack with around 8km with Vollering unable to respond.The opening stage of the men's race - the final leading stage race before the Tour de France - was won by Frenchman Romain Gregoire thanks to a late solo breakaway.

Man City are 'prepared to take a HUGE loss on Jack Grealish' as Napoli 'turn their attention to wantaway winger' and rival star Alejandro Garnacho
Manchester City are ready to take a significant loss on Jack Grealish as they look to cash in on interest from Napoli, according to reports. Pep Guardiola made the brutal decision to leave Grealish out of his 27-man squad for the Club World Cup in the United States this summer. City shelled out £100million for him in 2021 and he still has two years left on a deal which bags him around £300,000 every week before tax. Serie A champions Napoli are interested in signing the winger and, according to The Sun, City would be willing to accept £45million for him. However, one stumbling block to the deal is the fact that the Italian side are also interested in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, Mail Sport understands. The Argentine winger is set to leave United after being dropped from the starting line-up for the team's Europa League final defeat by Tottenham last month. The Sun claim that Napoli would prefer to sign Grealish this summer however recognise that Garnacho might be a better deal in the long run. A potential deal with City, however, might prove easier given the fact that one star has already made the move from the Etihad to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Napoli completed the signing of Kevin De Bruyne earlier in the week on the back of a decade-long stay in Manchester. Grealish meanwhile, a likeable figure who was an important figure in City's Treble-winning 2022-23 campaign, only made seven Premier League starts last campaign. All four of City's summer signings so far - Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli - are part of the travelling squad for the Club World Cup, but Grealish is not. He is understood to have been left out so he can find a new club to join this summer. England manager Thomas Tuchel has told the winger that he must be playing more to earn a place in his plans, having left him out of his first two squads. After Grealish was left out of City's final Premier League fixture at Fulham, Guardiola said that officials would work with the player and his representatives to find a solution that suited both sides. Meanwhile, Mail Sport revealed last month that Rubem Amorim told Garnacho find a new club in front of his team-mates at United's training ground. There is no lack of interest in Garnacho, but he is unlikely to leave the Red Devils on the cheap with United slapping a £70million price-tag on the 20-year-old. Garnacho is viewed as one of United's sellable assets this summer given his age, while he also still has three years remaining on his contract. Amorim wants a major squad overhaul, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho also in line to follow Garnacho out the exit door.

Paris Saint-Germain edge closer to deal for £60m Bournemouth star as Champions League winners look to bolster their defence
Bournemouth are continuing talks with Paris St Germain over the £60million sale of centre back Ilya Zabarnyi who has been offered a five-year contract by the European champions. The Champions League winners are seeking to tie up a move for the Cherries defender after he agreed personal terms. Interest from the Ligue 1 side came following a string of impressive performances for Andoni Iraola's side last season. The Ukrainian international, who moved to the south coast from Dynamo Kyiv in 2023, is just one of a number of players who looks set to leave the club this summer. His former defensive partner Dean Huijsen has left for Real Madrid after the Spanish giants activated his £50million release clause. Meanwhile, Milos Kerkez could join Premier League champions Liverpool, although Bournemouth are standing firm with their valuation of £45million but could do a deal for around £40million. A potential move by the Reds to strengthen at left back follows interest from Atletico Madrid in signing Andy Robertson. Kerkez is widely expected to join Arne Slot's side, along with the impending move for Florian Wirtz in what will be a club record deal. The Cherries' defender moving to Anfield could well spell the end for Kostas Tsimikas this summer as Liverpool juggle on the left of defence. Robertson only delivered one assist in the Premier League last season in 33 games and made some uncharacteristic errors. Kerkez, meanwhile, was a standout for his side and delivered five for Andoni Iraola's men - netting twice himself.
