OIC: Israel Plans to Seize Area C in West Bank

Mohamed Mandour The Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Media Observatory for Israeli Crimes against Palestinians reported that there were 460 martyrs and 1,939 wounded in just one week, from June 3 to June 9, 2025. From October 7, 2023, to June 9, 2025, the total number of martyrs reached 56,260, with 134,586 wounded. Many martyrs were killed while searching for aid, including over 111 Palestinians who lost their lives while looking for food. Additionally, 583 people were injured and nine are missing while seeking assistance. Most were killed by Israeli fire targeting various areas of Gaza, including tents for displaced persons and civilian homes. Data from the United Nations indicates that rates of acute malnutrition among children in Gaza have tripled since the last ceasefire. UNICEF issued an appeal for an end to the war, emphasizing that using starvation as a "weapon" constitutes a war crime. This statement follows increasing references to the term "genocide" by Western officials. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévost has stated that he personally believes the situation in Gaza amounts to genocide. In a recent airstrike, three paramedics and a journalist were killed while recovering bodies in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza. Israeli forces also bombed the Baptist Hospital, resulting in the deaths of four additional journalists, bringing the total number of journalists killed in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip to 228. The Observatory noted that occupation forces are intensifying pressure on the healthcare sector by doubling the number of wounded, exceeding the capacity of hospitals in the Gaza Strip to provide treatment due to restrictions and a lack of necessary equipment and resources. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed that occupation forces have deliberately bombed hospitals in Gaza, using pretexts and falsehoods. Occupation forces have also destroyed homes in the Qarara area of Khan Yunis and the Jabalia refugee camp as part of their displacement policy and arming Palestinian militias. Meanwhile, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has stated that the occupation government has a plan that includes imposing sovereignty over Area C, displacing the residents of Khan al-Ahmar, and disrupting the banking system. Additionally, occupation forces have notified the owners of 100 homes in the Jenin refugee camp of their impending demolition. Al-Aqsa Mosque faces almost daily raids, with extremist settlers attempting to bring bloodied meat into the mosque for sacrifice, only to be stopped by Al-Aqsa guards. The occupation authorities continue to prohibit Muslims from entering the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, refusing to hand over the mosque and its facilities to Muslims on the first day of Eid al-Adha, as they have done on Fridays and during Laylat al-Qadr in Ramadan, as well as Eid al-Fitr. Settlers attacked the Armenian Monastery in Al-Quds, spitting on the monastery, crosses, and holy symbols. In the West Bank, the number of raids conducted by occupation forces in cities and towns reached 302, resulting in the arrest of 166 Palestinians. Tragically, they also killed a child in Ramallah and wounded two others in Nablus. During the same week, they raided the Al-Tahadi School in the village of Khirbet Ibziq, while settlers were present near the Nour al-Huda School on the outskirts of Beitunia in Ramallah. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Aster Volunteers UAE, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, recently organized an impactful 4th E-Waste Collection Drive as part of the 'Aster Green Choices initiative', reinforcing Aster DM Healthcare's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. Collection boxes were strategically placed in nine Aster units across the UAE, including Aster Jubilee Medical Centre Bur Dubai, Aster Hospital Mankhool, Aster Hospital Qusais, Aster Hospital Sharjah, Medcare Orthopedics and Spine Hospital, Medcare Al Safa, Aster Clinic Al Warqa, Aster Corporate Office Al Diyafah, Aster Retail Warehouse – Dubai Investment Park, and Aster Cedars Hospital & Clinic, Jebel Ali. Additionally, Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital Qusais and Medcare Hospital Sharjah supported the initiative by contributing some e-waste. The drive resulted in the recycling of 750 kgs of e-waste in collaboration with E-Scrappy. To date, the initiative has cumulatively recycled 1,998 kgs of e-waste over the four editions. The drive not only highlighted the importance of proper e-waste disposal but also educated the public on the environmental impact of electronic waste, encouraging more sustainable practices across the UAE. Over the years, the initiative has successfully recycled 496 kgs of e-waste in 2020, 318 kgs in 2023, 434 kgs in 2024 and now 750 kgs in 2025. Asterians from various units played a crucial role by collecting e-waste from nearby shops and bringing electronic waste from their homes to designated collection boxes. The collected e-waste was responsibly recycled by E-scrappy, who issued a Green Certificate to Aster Volunteers UAE, underscoring their commitment to environmental management. Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare, commented on the initiative, stating, 'Our commitment to environmental sustainability continues to be a core pillar of Aster's mission, guided by our ESG framework and alignment with 10 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Aligned with the spirit of World Environment Day, with each edition of the E-Waste Collection Drive, we build greater awareness about the importance of responsible e-waste disposal and foster a culture of recycling within our communities. The success and continued growth of this initiative reaffirm our belief that collective action can drive meaningful environmental impact. Alongside efforts like tree plantations, indoor and seed plant distributions, and clean-up drives, the E-Waste Collection Drive reflects our enduring dedication to a greener, more sustainable future.' The E-Waste Collection Drive is part of Aster DM Healthcare's broader environmental sustainability strategy, which includes other countries like Qatar, KSA, Oman, and India. The company's long-term goals focus on mitigating the environmental impact of toxins leached from buried metals, ensuring the proper disposal and recycling of e-waste. Over the last few years, Aster Volunteers has emerged into a global movement driven by over 85,000 volunteers who have impacted over 6.5 million lives. Aster DM Healthcare GCC achieved a significant reduction of 541 tCO2e in net greenhouse gas emissions through the integration of solar energy sources, including 1,340,000 KWh of solar energy as on 31st March 2024. The company also excelled in waste management, recycling 64,871 kilograms of waste, including 3,992 kilograms of plastic waste, 2,835 kilograms of paper waste, and 434 kilograms of e-waste. The organization prioritizes waste segregation at the source, enabling efficient recycling of biomedical, plastic, food, metals, paper, and cardboard waste. Aster's Annual ESG Report for FY 23-24 highlighted a reduction of 1,769 KL in water consumption across nine hospitals. Social initiatives under Aster Volunteers have significantly contributed to community health, disaster aid, and social empowerment programs. Aster DM Healthcare, one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in the GCC, has received three prestigious awards from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Arabia CSR Awards for its sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and community initiatives. Aster also signed the Action Declaration on Climate Policy Engagement at COP27 and was the only Middle Eastern and Indian company listed among Corporate Knights' Global 100 sustainable companies for 2022, showcasing its commitment to building sustainable organizations. Looking ahead, Aster DM Healthcare aims to continue its commitment to environmental sustainability by organizing more e-waste collection drives and other green initiatives. The organization's long-term goals include reducing carbon emissions, increasing the use of renewable energy, and promoting sustainable practices across all its operations.

KFSHRC First in the Middle East to Implant AI-Powered Brain-Sensing Device for Treating Neurological Disorders

In a landmark medical achievement, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre KFSHRC has become the first institution in the Middle East to successfully implant an AI-powered brain-sensing device designed for the treatment of complex neurological disorders. The breakthrough ushers in a new era of real-time, adaptive neuromodulation therapy, offering renewed hope for patients suffering from Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and other movement disorders. The device utilizes artificial intelligence to continuously monitor the brain's electrical activity, identifying abnormal neural signals and delivering precisely targeted electrical impulses to restore neurological balance. Powered by a closed-loop system, the device automatically adjusts stimulation in real time based on the patient's brain activity, enabling highly responsive, personalized therapy and consistent symptom control throughout the day. The minimally invasive procedure, typically completed within three to five hours, has shown the potential to reduce patients' reliance on medication by as much as 50%. This cuts down detrimental side effects and enhances patients' autonomy and quality of life. Initial outcomes suggest rapid post-operative recovery and tangible improvements in symptom control within weeks. This breakthrough reflects the leadership and clinical excellence of KFSHRC's Neuroscience Centre of Excellence, which provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for adult and paediatric neurological cases. The Center leads the region in deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders, stereotactic EEG for epilepsy, and AI-based diagnostics for cognitive conditions and autism. Through continuous innovation and a patient-centred approach, it is redefining regional standards in neuroscience and setting new benchmarks in precision brain health. It is noteworthy that KFSHRC has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally in the list of the world's top 250 Academic Medical Centres for the third consecutive year and recognised as the most valuable healthcare brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East, according to the 2025 Brand Finance rankings. Additionally, it was included in the World's Best Smart Hospitals list for 2025 by Newsweek magazine.
