Human foot found in shoe along Fish Lake shoreline may belong to man missing since 1997
SEVIER COUNTY, Utah () — On Friday, May 16, a man and his dog were walking along the shore of Fish Lake in Sevier County. The dog picked up a shoe it found on the shore — and officials believe it may be connected to the case of a man who went missing in 1997.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, the owner of the dog noticed what 'appeared to be a bone in the shoe.'
'Detectives responded and found the remains of what appeared to be the remains of a human foot inside the shoe,' Curtis told ABC4.com.
This Utah woman was last seen in 1978. Nearly 50 years later, police are still searching for answers
The Utah Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the shoe contained a human foot. The morning after the shoe was found, crews returned to the lake to search the shoreline and water near where it was discovered.
'No other evidence was found to indicate where the foot came from,' the sheriff's office said.
After the discovery, detectives with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office began looking into a missing persons case from 1997. Curtis said detectives found a child of that missing man and have sent in a DNA sample to compare with the foot.
There is no further information at this time.

ClearStrand-ASD, First-of-Its-Kind Autism Screening Tool, Now Available in California
NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- LinusBio, a leader in precision exposome medicine, announced today that ClearStrand-ASD™, its biochemical autism screening test, is now available to patients and providers in California, making it available across 48 states in the US. This expansion marks a significant step in LinusBio's mission to enable earlier identification of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and support early intervention. "Every parent deserves answers, and they deserve them as early as possible." - Dr. Manish Arora, Founder and CEO of LinusBio Share ClearStrand-ASD leverages proprietary robotics and lasers to analyze a strand of hair to identify biological and molecular patterns indicative of ASD. The result is an objective, noninvasive screening tool that supports clinical decision-making during a child's most critical window of development. 'ClearStrand-ASD was developed to address one of the greatest challenges families face when concerned about autism: the uncertainty and waiting. Every parent deserves answers, and they deserve them as early as possible. We know that early detection and timely intervention can profoundly shape a child's future. Whether ClearStrand-ASD helps rule out autism or prompts earlier action, what we're ultimately giving families is something invaluable — time. Time to plan, to act, and to hope. We're deeply honored to offer this breakthrough to families and providers in California,' said Dr. Manish Arora, Founder and CEO of LinusBio. 'Our goal is to empower clinicians with more objective, personalized insights so they can better support the children and families who need it most.' In a state as diverse as California, where children's backgrounds, resources, and care pathways can vary widely, early intervention can be the difference between delayed development and long-term success. Yet, many families face long waitlists or lack of access to diagnostic services altogether. Dr. Tanya Altmann, a nationally recognized pediatrician and author, has used ClearStrand-ASD at her Calabasas practice as part of a more comprehensive approach to developmental care. 'In pediatrics, time matters. The earlier we can identify potential concerns, the sooner we can intervene, and early intervention can make a lifelong difference,' said Dr. Altmann. 'ClearStrand-ASD gives me an additional layer of insight, especially when families have concerns but don't yet have a diagnosis. Its high predictive value in ruling out autism is an important factor when discussing next steps with parents, and it can be incredibly helpful in prioritizing which children need further evaluation. It's a powerful tool to help guide next steps in care and give parents and clinicians an early indicator they can act on.' LinusBio currently enables caregivers to request the test from home through an independent telehealth provider. With this expansion, the company is also partnering with pediatric practices, developmental specialists, and early intervention networks across California to broaden access to the test in clinical and community settings. About ClearStrand-ASD ClearStrand-ASD is a biochemical test intended to help health care providers rule out autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children 1 to 48 months. The test analyzes a strand of hair to map the dynamic patterns of an individual's unique biological responses at a molecular level to environmental exposures over time and uses an algorithm to assess the likelihood of autism. It is not a genetic test and must be ordered by a licensed health care provider (Rx only). ClearStrand-ASD is performed at LinusBio's CLIA-certified laboratory (CLIA #31d2307499). Biocytogen Secures Japan Patent for RenMab Platform, Expands Global Patent Portfolio for RenMice Fully Human Antibody/TCR Platform
By Business Wire India Published on June 5, 2025, 14:15 IST Beijing, China: Biocytogen Pharmaceuticals (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (Biocytogen, HKEX: 02315) today announced that the key technology of its independently developed RenMab™fully human antibody mouse platform has been granted an invention patent by the Japan Patent Office (JPO). This milestone marks a significant step in strengthening the global intellectual property portfolio of the RenMice® fully human antibody platform family. It underscores the continued advancement of Biocytogen's comprehensive global patent strategy and highlights the innovation and international recognition of the company's proprietary technologies. RenMab™ mice are a core member of Biocytogen's independently developed RenMice® fully human antibody discovery platform family. Using Biocytogen's proprietary Size-Unlimited and Precise Chromosome Engineering (SUPCE®) technology, the complete repertoire of murine immunoglobulin heavy chain and light chain variable region genes was precisely replaced in situ with their human counterparts. As a result, RenMab mice have the full repertoire of human antibody heavy chain VDJ and light chain VJ genes. It retains the ability to mount robust immune responses against diverse antigens, comparable to wild-type mice, and can generate fully human antibodies with native-like diversity, significantly improving the efficiency and success rate of discovering high-potential therapeutic candidates. Importantly, antibodies derived from RenMab mice require no additional humanization, effectively minimizing immunogenicity risks and streamlining the antibody drug development process. With distinct advantages in discovering fully human antibodies and TCRs with low immunogenicity, high diversity, favorable affinity, and excellent physicochemical properties, Biocytogen's RenMice platform series (RenMab™/RenLite®/RenNano®/RenTCR-mimic™/RenTCR™) has gained widespread recognition in the global biotech and biopharmaceutical industry. Licensing agreements have been established with 20+ companies, including Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, Janssen/ Johnson & Johnson, and BeiGene.
