White House pauses talks with Harvard as university continues to face fund cut threats, says report — What we know
The talks between Harvard University and the White House have paused, a report said on Monday, as threat loomed over the Ivy League school's funds and the future of its foreign students.
As per a Bloomberg report quoting an unnamed person familiar with the matter, the stalling of talks threatens a quick resolution of the ongoing standoff between Harvard University and President Donald Trump's administration.
Citing private discussions, the source told Bloomberg that a potential deal was knocked off course last week but assured that hopes still remain for an accord between the two parties.
Harvard or the Trump administration have not said anything publicly yet.

The pause in the talks suggests that a wide gap remains between Harvard and the White House. This comes less than two weeks after President Donald Trump praised the university as acting 'extremely appropriately during these negotiations', adding that a deal could be reached soon.\
Earlier this month, Education Secretary Linda McMahon had told Bloomberg that the Trump administration would be open to restoring grants and fundings if satisfactory agreements were made with universities.
However, the rift between Donald Trump and Harvard University has worsened recently.
The Trump administration on Monday accused Harvard of violating the civil rights of its Jewish and Israeli students and threatened to cut off all federal funding if the university does not take urgent action.
In a letter sent to the president of Harvard, a federal task force accused it of failing to protect the students during campus protests against Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
Following an investigation, the task force concluded that "Harvard has been in some cases deliberately indifferent, and in others has been a willful participant in anti-Semitic harassment of Jewish students, faculty, and staff," according to the letter.
The school said it strongly disagreed with the government's findings as it 'has taken substantive, proactive steps to address the root causes of antisemitism in its community.'

Overall, Trump's bill as amended by Senate Republicans is set to add $3.3 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). This is up from the bill passed by the House Republicans that would have added $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit. The Senate Republicans' bill would also remove health insurance of 11.8 million Americans and cut food assistance as well. This is nearly 1 million more than the House version of the bill. 'Anti-National Acts Routine Due To Lenient Courts': Allahabad HC Denies Bail For Pro-Pakistan Post
Last Updated: Ansar Ahmad Siddique had shared a video on Facebook on May 3, 2025, glorifying 'Pakistan Zindabad' and appealing to others to support Pakistanis. In a strongly worded order, the Allahabad High Court on June 26, 2025, refused to grant bail to a 62-year-old man accused of sharing a Facebook video allegedly promoting anti-national sentiments, stating that courts in India have become 'liberal and tolerant towards such acts of people with anti-national bent of mind". The bench of Justice Siddharth, presiding over the bail plea of accused Ansar Ahmad Siddique in a case registered under Sections 197 and 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), said that the conduct of the applicant amounted to an affront to the Constitution and national integrity. The FIR, registered at Chhatari Police Station in Bulandshahar district, alleged that Siddique had shared a video on Facebook on May 3, 2025, glorifying 'Pakistan Zindabad" and appealing to others to support Pakistanis. The prosecution further argued that this post came shortly after a terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 Hindu men were killed, implying the applicant's sympathy towards terror acts motivated by religious extremism. Court observed that such acts not only hurt national sentiments but also threatened the sovereignty and unity of the country. Quoting Article 51-A of the Constitution, Justice Siddharth said every citizen is duty-bound to uphold the nation's integrity, its flag, anthem, and constitutional values. 'Clearly the act of the applicant is disrespectful to the Constitution and its ideals and also his act amounts to challenging the sovereignty of India and adversely affecting unity and integrity of India by sharing anti-social and anti-Indian post," the judge stated. Issuing a warning on the increasing frequency of such incidents, the court remarked, 'Commission of such offences is becoming routine affair in this country because the courts are liberal and tolerant towards such acts of people with anti national bent of mind. It is not a fit case for enlarging the applicant on bail at this stage".
