Criminal with 25K reward held

on Monday arrested a
wanted criminal
from Murain Tola village.
The arrested criminal-- identified as Brijesh Kumar, a resident of Fatehpur—was wanted under the
Gangsters Act
and carrying a Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head. Acting on a tip off that Brijesh was hiding in the village, a joint team of Fatanpur police and STF conducted a raid and arrested him. Police said Brijesh was operating a gang involved in stealing vehicles across the state.
He, along with his accomplices, had looted a cement sheets-loaded truck in the Fatanpur area in Dec 2023. The gang also looted another truck in Pratapgarh in March 2024. A total of four cases were pending against Brijesh in Pratapgarh and Bhadohi districts. tnn

Chandigarh's health department seized 450 kg of adulterated paneer and dairy products during a raid, prompting concerns about food safety. Officials cautioned consumers against unusually cheap paneer, as genuine production costs exceed Rs 300 per kg. Paneer is a rich source of protein and other nutrients. As per the report, the seized samples have been sent to a food safety analyst laboratory authorised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Also, two challans were issued under Section 63 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. According to the designated officer-cum-licensing authority for food safety, customers should be vigilant while buying paneer from the market. Ten years after he was duped with fake overseas gig, man arrested over Rs 88-lakh employment fraud
In 2015, Jakir Daud Khan, a Class 9 dropout, applied for a visa through an agent who promised him an overseas gig. He soon realised he had been defrauded. On Thursday, ten years after being at the receiving end himself, he was arrested for allegedly duping multiple people with fake promises of jobs outside the country, the Delhi Police said. Jakir Daud Khan, police said, was associated with a firm identified as Fiza Placement Pvt. Limited in 2021. The company was allegedly involved in defrauding people with fake employment opportunities. However, both the company's and Jakir's alleged fraud came to light when a complaint was filed in September 2021. 'In September 2022, a complainant, Dharmendra Kumar, lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Delhi, alleging that Fiza Placement Pvt. Ltd., based in Janakpuri, Delhi, defrauded him of Rs 90,000 for a fake Dubai job offer, providing a forged UAE visa, an invalid air ticket and retaining his passport. Over 80 similar complaints were filed with the EOW,' said DCP (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik. According to the police, the probe revealed that the company, which was never registered with the Home Ministry, as mandated, defrauded multiple people, duping each person of anything between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh. A total amount of Rs 88,87,800 was allegedly defrauded. Following a spurt of complaints, the EOW then arrested several accused on December 16, 2022 — Arshad, Ram Anmol Thakur, Gulbhar Ali, and Shruti. Several passports, a pistol, Rs 2,55,000, and some devices were seized. Two more accused, Mohd. Saddam and Mohd. Tasleem was also nabbed later. But Daud Khan remained elusive and was declared a proclaimed offender in February 2024. A week back, the Special Cell sleuths of the Delhi Police received a tip-off about his movement in Maharashtra. 'The team worked discreetly and managed to extract the information confirming his presence in the area. However, after working further for a few days specific movement of the accused Jakir Daud was traced, and he was apprehended from Shor village of Padgha, Maharashtra,' DCP Kaushik said. Born and brought up in the Awarahi village in Uttar Pradesh, Khan's parents were farmers. He couldn't continue studies beyond Class 9 and started working in 2010. 'Jakir Daud Khan could not pass high school, leading him to discontinue his education and begin working in the handloom industry in Bhiwandi, Mumbai,' the DCP added.
