With the 2025 UEFA Women's Euro in Switzerland set to kick off next week, participating nations are undergoing their final preparations for the tournament.
A number of friendlies are set to take place over the course of the weekend, and two of the competition favourites in Spain and France were in action against Japan and Brazil on Friday evening.

Here's how the action unfolded...
Spain come from behind to beat Japan
Scorers: Tanaka 30', Pina 44', López 66', Del Castillo 88'
Spain surprisingly found themselves a goal behind in the first half as Japan's Maika Hamano set up Mina Tanaka for the opener on the 30-minute mark.
However, it didn't take the current World Champions long to get themselves back on level terms as Clàudia Pina rifled home the equaliser on the brink of half time.
Just after the hour mark, Vicky López then fired Spain in front after a calamitous error at the back for Japan.

Spain put the result beyond doubt in the final minutes as Athenea del Castillo found the top corner with a strike from inside the box to ensure the competition favourites head into the Euros on the back of an emphatic victory.
France produce comeback triumph against Brazil
Scorers: Luany 7', Kerolin 12', Geyoro 45', 56', Katoto 76'
It was Brazil who got off to a lightning fast start with two goals in the space of five minutes, courtesy of strikes from Luany and Kerolin.
France gave themselves a lifeline moments before the break as Grace Geyoro pulled a goal back to halve the deficit.

Early in the second half, it was Geyoro once again on the scoresheet with a deflected effort to level the scoreline with over 30 minutes still to play.
France eventually completed their comeback in the 76th minute as forward Marie-Antoinette Katoto headed home the winner following relentless pressure from the hosts.

Ex-Juventus president Andrea Agnelli seeks plea bargain deal in false accounting case

ROME -- Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has requested a plea bargain deal that would give him a 20-month sentence in a false accounting trial that contributed to his downfall at the record 36-time Serie A champion. Former Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved requested a deal of 14 months and former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici and chief legal officer Cesare Gabasio each requested 18 months. Prosecutors began investigating in 2021 whether Juventus, which is listed on the Milan stock exchange, cashed in on illegal commissions from transfer and loans of players. The case has also explored whether investors were misled with invoices being issued for non-existent transactions to demonstrate income that in turn could be deemed false accounting. A decision in the case, which was moved from Turin to Rome, is expected in September, a preliminary judge announced Friday. The case prompted Agnelli and Juventus' entire board of directors to resign in 2022. Agnelli was then given two separate bans by sports authorities, the last of which expires in October. Juventus was hit with a 10-point penalty in the 2022-23 season and then removed by UEFA from the Conference League for financial irregularities. If the plea bargains are accepted in September, it could be the final step in the false accounting legal cases at Juventus and set up Agnelli's possible return to soccer after his sports ban expires a month later.

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen sets demands for Barcelona exit

Barcelona need to reduce their wage bill in order to be able to register new signings, such as Joan Garcia, who has already joined, and Nico Williams, who is expected to make the move from Athletic Club as early as next week. And one candidate that could depart to help with this is Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Due to the arrival of Garcia and the expected contract renewal of Wojciech Szczesny, Ter Stegen is expected to start next season as third-choice goalkeeper – despite being club captain. As such, he will have options to leave, and with the 2026 World Cup taking place next summer, he may wish to do so in order to ensure that he is Germany's starter for the tournament. Barcelona dealt blow in bid to offload Marc-Andre Ter Stegen But at this stage, Ter Stegen is very reluctant to leave, and he is said to be very angry with how things have played out in regards to his situation at Barcelona. On top of this, he has already turned down an offer from AS Monaco. However, he would entertain the possibility of departing, but as per Sport, he would only do so if he were to receive the final three years of his salary in full. Image viaAdvertisement It is clear that Barcelona will not find it easy to ensure a positive solution in this Ter Stegen saga. As one of the club's highest-paid players, his exit would be massive in terms of helping their financial problems, and also ensuring that Garcia and Williams will be registered in time for the start of the 2025-26 season kicking off in August. Barcelona are hoping that Ter Stegen's eases his demands in the coming weeks, but given his anger about the situation, that could be more hope than expectation. For now, it remains to be seen how this plays out.
