50-year-old fugitive accused of sexual contact with 6-year-old girl captured overseas, returned to Latah County
May 15—A 50-year-old man charged with lewd conduct with a minor and who fled to Eastern Europe was brought back to North Idaho by authorities to face the charge, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Rody L. Wilcox is accused of inappropriately touching a 6-year-old girl, according to court documents.
Wilcox was initially arrested in December 2023 in Salmon, Idaho, but he posted bond the following month while pending trial, according to a Marshals Service news release. Wilcox later failed to appear for a motion hearing while on bond, and an arrest warrant was issued in July .
Investigators learned that sometime earlier in July, prior to his hearing, Wilcox fled the country, the release said. The Latah County Sheriff's Office, Latah County Prosecutor's Office, U.S. Attorney's Office, U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI worked together to locate Wilcox. Georgian authorities arrested him in August.
Earlier this week, U.S. Marshals deputies extradited Wilcox from Georgia to Latah County.
"This case is an excellent example that we will find you and return you to face your charges," U.S. Marshal Brent Bunn said in the release. "We are proud to be able to leverage partnerships with county, state and federal partners to help keep our communities a safe place to live."
Wilcox, who remained in Latah County Jail Thursday, is scheduled for a status hearing Monday.

Atlanta rapper Silentó sentenced to 30 years in cousin's deadly shooting
Silentó, the rapper known for "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)," has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to his cousin's death in 2021. The 27-year-old Atlanta rapper, whose legal name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, pleaded guilty but mentally ill Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and other charges in the shooting death of his 34-year-old cousin. Hawk also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possessing a gun while committing a crime and concealing the death of another. A murder charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement. In the early morning hours on Jan. 21, 2021, the DeKalb County Police Department found Hawk's cousin, Frederick Rooks III, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, with 10 bullet casings found near his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Security camera footage from a nearby home showed a white BMW SUV fleeing the area minutes after the gunfire. Officers were able to confirm that the vehicle was the same one that Hawk used to pick up Rooks, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney's office. Hawk was taken into custody on Feb. 1, 2021, and during an interview with investigators, he admitted to shooting Rooks. Ballistics testing matched the bullet casings to a gun that Hawk had when he was arrested, authorities said. Rooks' brothers and sisters told DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney L. Johnson before sentencing that Hawk should have gotten a longer sentence, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The rapper was a high school junior in suburban Atlanta in 2015 when he released "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" and watched it skyrocket into a dance craze. Hawk made multiple other albums, but said in an interview with the medical talk show "The Doctors" in 2019 that he struggled with depression and had grown up in a family where he witnessed mental illness and violence. "I've been fighting demons my whole life, my whole life," he said in 2019. "Depression doesn't leave you when you become famous, it just adds more pressure," Hawk said then, urging others to get help. "And while everybody's looking at you, they're also judging you." "I don't know if I can truly be happy, I don't know if these demons will ever go away." Hawk had been struggling in the months before the arrest. His publicist, Chanel Hudson, has said he had tried to kill himself in 2020. In August 2020, he was arrested in Santa Ana, California, on a domestic violence charge. The next day, the Los Angeles Police Department charged him with assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses said he entered a home, where he didn't know anyone, looking for his girlfriend and swung a hatchet at two people before he was disarmed. In October 2020, Hawk was arrested after police said they clocked him driving 143 miles per hour on Interstate 85 in DeKalb County. Hudson said at the time of Hawk's arrest in the killing of Rooks that he had been "suffering immensely from a series of mental health illnesses."

US Marshals escalate manhunt for fugitive dad wanted in daughters' murders
The U.S. Marshals Service has activated its elite Rapidly Advancing Manhunt (RAM) program in the urgent search for Travis Decker, wanted in connection with the murder of his three daughters in Washington state. The RAM program, according to the U.S. Marshals Service, is designed to expedite the capture of violent fugitives through real-time intelligence coordination and rapid deployment of specialized teams, is fully engaged in the effort to apprehend Decker. More than 100 officers from federal, state, and local agencies are actively involved in the manhunt in an intensive search effort that includes aerial surveillance, tracking dogs and backcountry patrols. The Marshals Service is offering up to $20,000 for information directly relating to Decker's arrest. The U.S. Marshals' continued involvement comes as the Chelan County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they have assumed the role of lead investigative agency in the girls' killings. In a clarification issued Wednesday, the department shared with Fox News Digital that the Wenatchee Police Department is no longer the lead agency in the killings. The shift in jurisdiction comes as the investigation continues to focus on rugged wilderness areas within Chelan County, where Decker was last seen. On Tuesday, June 10, authorities announced that they were zeroing in on the Army veteran. On Monday, the agency received a tip from a group of hikers of a man who appeared evasive and unprepared near the Ingalls Creek and Valley High areas late Monday night, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office (CCSO). "Our office recently received a tip from a hiking party who stated they spotted a lone hiker in the Enchantments area who appeared to be ill-prepared for trail and weather conditions, and appeared to be avoiding others," the sheriff's office said in a press release. Authorities subsequently acted on the tip and "spotted a lone, off-trail hiker from a helicopter near Colchuck Lake who ran from sight as the helicopter passed," CCSO said. Search teams were able to establish a trail and deploy K9s throughout the area, leading them to Ingalls Creek.
