‘Like pineapple on pizza', moan Ferrari fans as Lewis Hamilton ditches red to debut ‘wrong' new look for F1 Miami GP

The Sun01-05-2025

FERRARI will ditch their iconic red racing suits for this weekend's Miami Grand Prix - and fans are absolutely FUMING.
Scuderia drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will wear blue and white for a one-off design at the Miami International Autodrome.
But the Prancing Horse are gearing up to debut a new look in the paddock in Florida on Friday, courtesy of their sponsors HP.
The red livery won't be gone forever though with the change just a one-off in celebration of the milestone.
Ferrari inked a deal with software company HP a year ago and the blue colours are set to honour the anniversary of that partnership.
Fans got a first glimpse of Hamilton and Leclerc suiting up in white and blue for the first American race of the season.
The F1-75 will remain predominantly red, but will feature white and blue accents on the read and front wings, as well as on the wheels.
And fans have been left raging with the bold move.
A third said: 'This could be the worst livery ever created', before another added: 'We are red. Not blue! 😡'
Lewis Hamilton hailed for 'masterclass' sprint victory before Ferrari star immediately takes aim at 'yapping' critics
Motorheads are fearing the worst after pointing out that the SF-24 went blue in Miami last season too.
It was also described as a "one-off" in Florida last year, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari making their mark in North America.
Leclerc and then-team-mate Carlos Sainz wore light blue racing suits to nod to the Azzuro La Plata worn by Ferrari legend Alberto Ascari.
Scuderia's first F1 world champion wore blue as he claimed the titles in 1952 and 1953.
While other team drivers including, John Surtees, Chris Amon, Lorenzo Bandini and Ludovico Scarfiotti did the same in the 1960s.
Meanwhile, Hamilton and Leclerc will hope the change in colour palette gets the Ferrari back on the podium.
The Frenchman finished third in Saudi Arabia a fortnight ago, whle Hamilton has only placed as high as fifth after a troubling start to the season at his new team.
Ferrari aren't the only team to change their colours ahead of the big sprint weekend in Miami.
Racing Bulls unveiled an all-pink affair during a party in Miami Beach on Wednesday evening.

Man takes Tesla for WeBuyAnyCar valuation after one year - and price is brutal

Harley Perkins, who shares advice on cars and vans, was left stunned after taking his pride and joy for a valuation - and the price was a lot lower than he was expecting A motorist was left gobsmacked when he took his one year old Tesla for a valuation, despite having owned the car for only 12 months. As most drivers are aware, cars depreciate in value as soon as they roll off the showroom floor. Except for rare future classics, many of us face steep depreciation after just a few years. ‌ But how severe is this drop? ‌ One content creator decided to put his Tesla to the test. YouTuber Harley Perkins, who posts videos about cars, vans and bikes - often offering advice to new drivers on UK roads - decided to see what his Tesla Model Y would fetch at WeBuyAnyCar, reports the Express. He documented the entire process in a short video that has since gone viral on social media. Harley explained that after shelling out £52,000 for the electric SUV a year earlier - and clocking less than 15,000 miles - he was intrigued to see what price the car-buying service would offer. He noted that similar Teslas were listed for around £36,000-£37,000 on AutoTrader before revealing the surprising offer. ‌ In the video, the WeBuyAnyCar inspector told him the car was valued at just £27,132 - nearly half the original price of the American-built EV. When asked to justify the valuation, the employee explained the Tesla was graded as a 'Grade 2' car. This means it had a few chips or blemishes, as only a 'Grade 1' vehicle is considered to be in perfect showroom condition. ‌ Commenters were left stunned by the valuation so soon after purchase. WeBuyAnyCar was contacted for a response. A spectator commented: "Over 2k a month loss, great way to lose money," while another added their two pence with: "F**k mate, that's horrendous." Doubts were raised by some viewers over the valuation software utilised by the purchasers, and suggestions flew that this significant dip in value might also be linked to the motor being electric. So there you have it, depreciation sure does bite – reckon your ride might face the same fate?

Shaquille O'Neal Cut a Ferrari in Half So He Could Fit In It

The beyond famous NBA star claims it was his 'worst purchase' Shaquille O'Neal — otherwise known as Shaq, Diesel, and a handful of other nicknames — is almost larger than life. But we aren't just talking about his incredible basketball track record or nearly half a billion-dollar net worth. He's physically a huge guy, weighing over 320 pounds and standing just over seven feet tall. When you're a man of that stature and means, well, sometimes you improvise. In a recent interview, Shaq confessed that he bought two Ferraris — one 'real' and one salvage — before trying to splice them together in order to accommodate his frame. There's a surprising tale of ups and downs behind the decision. Ex-Shaq owned Ferrari F355 Turning two Ferraris into one wasn't an outright disaster, at first When Shaq was quizzed about what his 'worst purchase' was, he didn't hesitate. He immediately recounts his experience trying to fit himself into a car wearing the prancing horse badge. 'I bought two Ferraris,' he starts. 'I bought a real Ferrari. I bought a salvage Ferrari. Cut my real Ferrari in half, took pieces of the salvage Ferrari to stretch it, and then realized I couldn't fit.' He goes on to say that taking the top off permanently gave him about five inches of additional headroom, which was barely enough to fit. Incredibly, the star says it 'worked out good,' until Florida weather managed to get the better of him. Oops! We're unable to load this content right now. View directly on Instagram So, what happened? 'I didn't read the weather report, and I went to Miami from Fort Lauderdale. And on the way back, it started raining, and the whole car got flooded out,' Shaq said in the interview. So, the car actually worked, drove, and accommodated him, only to be thwarted by rain. Now for the second mystery: Is Shaq referring to his silver on black F355 that sold on Bring a Trailer just a few years ago, or a separate vehicle? That silver car had an unreported wreck that came to light during the most recent sale, which reportedly salvaged the car. Where did the 'real' Ferrari go, or is there another permanently topless Ferrari out and about? Ex-Shaq Owned Ferrari F355 Ex-Shaq Owned Ferrari F355 Shaq's a known car guy, and sliced Ferrari fits with some of his more intriguing car purchases From the F355 to slammed Cadillac Escalades on 26-inch wheels and customized Chevrolet Express vans, Shaq has owned a little bit of everything. His collection even included a permanently topless Mercedes S-Class convertible with suicide doors, a metalcrafter-modified Gallardo that's twelve inches longer than the regular car, and everything in between. With money comes means, and we're not surprised at all that Shaquille O'Neal spent double to buy the Ferrari that he wants. Final thoughts Y'know, we have to wonder if the boys in Maranello would put you on the no-fly list for trying something like what Shaq did today. Perhaps we should just be grateful. Since we don't see similarly sized NBA high-flyers making modifications like Shaq did, we have to assume the Italians figured out how to make cars that fit their high-rolling and tall-standing clientele. The Eagles qualified for the competition after winning the FA Cup final. But Textor's other club, French giants Lyon, had qualified through their Ligue 1 finish. And Uefa rules meant that Palace would have been unable to participate unless Textor walked away. The Championship club are no longer being funded by wantaway owner Dejphon Chansiri, who has so far rejected bids of around £48m. Wednesday's former owner Milan Madaric has jetted in for showdown talks over a return to Hillsborough. But The Star claims Textor could now come to the table as he looks to remain an investor in English football. BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Like many suitors, Textor is likely to see Wednesday as sleeping giants who would be revitalised by a return to the Premier League. It comes after another American consortium revealed plans to build a new 55,000-seater stadium should they replace Chansiri. Crystal Palace could be KICKED OUT of Europa League before a ball is even kicked Adam Shaw said: 'Sheffield Wednesday are nowhere in America. We sell zero shirts and have no commercial presence there – that's got to change. 'With the World Cup in the US next year and with the individuals we have in our ownership group, we could easily become Florida's English football team. 'We should and can be way bigger than Wrexham. Ryan Reynolds would give his left leg to have what we already have at Wednesday in terms of our history and fanbase. Let's use that. 'We wouldn't do anything without consulting the fans, but we think the club should have a home where people can park more easily and have up-to-date facilities. 'If we want to create a culture that ensures we become a sustainable, competitive and successful Premier League side, then we must be proactive. Premier League clubs are all upgrading their stadiums.'
