Protesters behind viral Jeff Bezos dummy unveil real meaning behind their stunt
The creators behind the viral Jeff Bezos dummy has revealed the reason why they pulled the eye-catching stunt ahead of the billionaire's wedding to Lauren Sanchez
Billionaire Jeff Bezos ' Venetian wedding to Lauren Sanchez has been an event defined by celebs, a multi-million-pound budget and – most of all – hijinks. Now the creators behind the viral protest has revealed the meaning behind it.
The protest group Konn Artiss were responsible for the creation of the Jeff Bezos dummy, which went viral after they pushed it into one of the Venetian canals online. In an iconic video which quickly spread online, a hapless-looking dummy of the billionaire can be seen clinging onto an Amazon package, with wads of cash clutched in his hands.
This came with other similarly eye-catching stunts by the group, such as rowing down the canal with dummies of both Jeff and Lauren in their wedding outfits. Notably, the dummy of Jeff on the boat held a piece of cardboard with 'Amazon' stamped on it.
The video gained over 344K views on TikTok and was played to the tune of comedic singer Bo Burnham's hit, 'Bezos I.' Commenters called for Amazon boycotts and praised the use of humour in the video. One said: "Boycott Amazon!!! I haven't missed it at all," while another added, "Bravo to the Italians."
Although, not all reactions were supportive. Under a clip of the dummy being pushed into the water on X, reactions were mixed. While some praised the group for their stunt, with some commenters accusing the protesters of being 'jealous' and 'rude'.
Others expressed that they didn't understand the motive behind the protest. 'I appreciate the Bezos hate, but I don't understand the protest,' one wrote.
However, in a recent TikTok, the anonymous protest group said that their intention wasn't to ruin or disrupt Bezos' wedding – but rather to raise awareness for a greater issue. They wrote: 'This was never about Bezos… It was about balance.
"I didn't do it to ruin a wedding… And I don't believe Bezos lost any sleep over it. I did it because the world only looks when… Something breaks the pattern.' By pattern, it appears they were attempting to do something eye-catching and out-of-the-ordinary to bring attention to issues around wealth inequality.

Konn Artiss are a collection of 'merry misfits' that have likened themselves to a Robin Hood-like figures. On their web page, they claim: 'Konn challenges societal norms through provocative stunts and striking installations, consistently highlighting inequality and advocating for positive social change.'
Ahead of the wedding on Friday, Konn Artiss told Metro: 'We are not protesting love, we are protesting luxury without accountability. It is a spectacle of excess when we live in a time when the gap between the richest and poorest is getting bigger.'
They also pointed out that Venice is a working class city, where the working class 'cannot pay their bills'. Yet they say Jeff Bezos is allowed to behave as though he is 'a Roman Emperor.'
Their protests came off the back of other demonstrations, such as that by Greenpeace and UK political campaign group "Everyone hates Elon". Ahead of the wedding, they unfolded a giant banner in central St Mark's Square, Venice, with a picture of Bezos laughing and a sign reading: "If you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax." Local police later rolled up the banner, as reported by Reuters.

Rosie O'Donnell SLAMS Jeff Bezos' 'fembot wife' Lauren Sanchez in wild rant after billionaire's 'gross' wedding
Rosie O'Donnell exploded at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez after their 'gross' $50million wedding in a series of unhinged posts this week. The comedian, 63, came out swinging for the Amazon billionaire and his new bride after their glitzy three-day Venice nuptials - taking aim at 'fembot' Sanchez's looks and lambasting Oprah for being on the guest list. Sharing a post showing Sanchez, 55, both in her younger years and the present day with noticeably fuller lips, O'Donnell wrote: 'The BEZOS wedding. It turned my stomach. 'Seeing all these billionaires. Gathering in the gross excess of it all. 'The show of it. Is Oprah friends with Jeff Besos [sic]. Really - how is that possible. 'He treats his employees with disdain. By any metric he is not a nice man The comedian, 63, came out swinging for the Amazon billionaire and his new bride after their glitzy three-day Venice nuptials - taking aim at 'fembot' Sanchez's looks and lambasting Oprah for being on the guest list 'And his fake fem bot wife. Who looks like that.' O'Donnell then took the rant even lower as she questioned why Bezos 'chose Sanchez' after divorcing first wife MacKenzie, who she called 'the salt of the earth.' She wrote: 'Sold his soul. Is what it looks like from here. 'The devil is smiling at all his conquests. 'Bezos was raised by a single mother. He knows exactly what he does. 'So do all of his guests. Posing for photos forgetting themselves In their designer outfits 'Ready for a vogue cover. A spot on ET 'More worthless performative nonsense. We have become numb to gross excess. She wrote: 'And his fake fem bot wife. Who looks like that' 'We have learned to tolerate it. Celebrity worship 'Devoid of humanity.' She shared another post showing the couple kissing with an X post overlaid which read: 'Jeff Bezos paid $50million for his wedding and gave his new wife over $50million in jewelry while people here are losing their Medicaid and SNAP benefits just so he can get a huge tax cut. 'It's disgusting and just wrong.' O'Donnell signaled her agreement with the message, with her barbed caption: 'Truth #pathetic #sad #realfacts.' O'Donnell was the latest famous face to lambast the nuptials - as Charlize Theron eviscerated the couple's wedding guest list at a charity event she hosted over the weekend. The lavish nuptials drew a star-studded crowd in Venice, Italy, with Tom Brady, the Kardashians, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey and more in attendance. But the three-day celebration also sparked backlash, with locals protesting the disruption and criticizing the pair's decision to wed in the historic city. Theron, 49, addressed the guest list while on stage at the Block Party charity event on Saturday night, which supports the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. 'I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that's OK because they suck and we're cool,' she deadpanned, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The comment was likely a joke, but the actress didn't hold back as she shifted to other issues — taking aim at Trump-era politics and what she called a 'backwards' handling of immigration, abortion and LGBT policies. While Katie Couric both shocked and delighted her fans when she lobbed a nasty comment at Sánchez. The confrontationally timed post — which she made on Bezos and Sánchez's wedding day — accused the Amazon billionaire's second wife of being 'tacky.' The 68-year-old television journalist weighed in on the last confrontational post from Jack Schlossberg, a writer famous for being the nephew of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the daughter of Caroline Kennedy. The lavish nuptials boasted a guest list of major players in Hollywood and sports but has also attracted controversy Schlossberg — who has repeatedly feuded with his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over his controversial work as the President Donald Trump 's Secretary of Health and Human Services — appeared to have poked fun at Bezos and Sánchez over the wedding celebration in Venice, Italy, in recent days. On Friday, he reposted the cover of Vogue, which featured the 55-year-old journalist in her opulent white lace wedding gown. 'Like I said … vogue,' he captioned the magazine cover, which read 'Here comes the bride!' in celebratory text. In the photo, Sánchez beamed ear to ear in the wedding dress, which featured lacy floral sleeves and a figure-hugging bodice with a high neckline. It had a skirt with paisley and floral lace designs that was cut close over her hips before fanning out at the knee. It featured a long white train behind her, and her sheer veil also dragged behind her to create a second layer. In her comment, Couric snapped: 'Welcome to the eighties — when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled. Apparently tacky is back.' Schlossberg played off Couric's '80s-themed comment and suggested in a reply: 'Let's bring back scrunchies.' Another simply wrote 'love you' after a string of tears-of-laughter emojis.

Botox In A Bottle? This Is What Celebrities Do To Look Younger
I think of facial moisturisers as the bread of butter of the beauty industry. Everyone needs one, there are different ones for every skin type and budget, and most importantly, they can work wonders. A cornerstone of any beauty routine, whether you're a striped back minimalist or a skincare savant, the best moisturisers will nourish, protect and often make a brilliant base for make-up. But if you're really lucky, they'll treat, too. And it appears And Just Like That 's Kristin Davis is certainly privy to that knowledge. In a rare moment of beauty influencing, the actor took to TikTok over the weekend to reveal her current 'favourite product': the L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Triple Action Anti-Ageing Day Cream, which you can snap up on sale right now for just £15 (usually £29.99). 'You know, I've gotten older and I've tried a lot on my face you guys, some of it didn't really help out that much, so I've decided I'm just gonna stick with what works,' Davis explained. 'One of my favourite products is L'Oréal Revitalift.' Davis admits to overthinking her skincare routine and her latest pivot to the hardworking moisturiser has helped her to 'keep it simple', which she says, 'makes it easy to show up as me, no filters needed'. Part of the new Revitalift Laser Age-Correcting Routine range, this cream is an upgrade to L'Oréal's iconic Triple-Action Cream. As Davis points out in the video, the new iteration is loaded with collagen-boosting pro-retinol to resurface lines and texture, micro and macro hyaluronic acid for replumping, and radiance-giving vitamin C to help even out skin tone. The 2025 newbie has also been set apart thanks to its inclusion of Argireline™, a well-loved combination of three smoothing peptides that has been inspired by the process of Botox, but it also strengthens skin structure and biostimulates collagen production. It's not a surprise Davis is obsessed with the every day skin nourisher, it combines a cocktail of actives that are mostly available in dermatologist-prescribed skin treatments, and offers up the kind of results you get from popular skin aesthetic treatments. Elisabeth Bouhadana, L'Oréal Paris global scientific director, explains, 'At L'Oréal Paris, partnering with our international board of dermatologists, we translate aesthetic dermatology advances into cutting-edge skincare accessible to all. Mirroring dermatological procedures combining HA fillers and radiance boosters, we've boosted our Revitalift Laser formulas — already packed with gold-standard derm-actives — with the transformative power of peptides, essential in treatments like botox and microneedling.' Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, testing the L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Triple Action Anti-Ageing Day Cream Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'I usually leave the treatment portion of my skincare routine to high-tech serums and prescriptive topicals, but on days where I'm giving abrasive treatments a break and still want to keep my skin in check, I've reached for this. It contains gold-standard ingredients that come highly rated by the experts - namely, pro-retinol, which occurs naturally, is milder and more stable than retinol, and is the most abundant form of vitamin A found in the skin, as well as vitamin C and peptides - which have collectively helped to quickly lend me a brighter, plump and healthier-looking complexion all while being gentle on my often reactive and sensitive skin. Outside of its impressive formula, it feels incredibly good on the skin. Rich, but not greasy, heavy or clogging, it glides over comfortably leaving behind cushiony velvety veil that packs a good amount of glow. I'm not surprised Davis has stripped back her routine to this one simple cream.' Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, testing the L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Triple Action Anti-Ageing Day Cream 1. Hollywood actress slams Jeff Bezos' star-studded wedding in brutal speech
Jeff Bezos married former award-winning journalist Lauren Sanchez this weekend – and it looked like the wedding of the year, with what seemed like half of Hollywood in attendance. However, Charlize Theron didn't hold back at her own charity bash when she jokingly dunked on not being invited to Bezos and Sánchez's three‑day £40million Venice celebrations. The actress quipped: 'I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding.' After giggles and applause from the audience, with a deadpan expression, she added: 'But that's OK, because they suck and we're cool.' This was Theron's fifth annual Block Party for her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project in Los Angeles. Many have praised her for using her platform and voice to spotlight global crises and make a change. And after her punchline caused the crowd to erupt with laughter, her tone quickly shifted to the reason for the event, dealing with global issues. She raised the point that backwards shifts in immigration policies, gender-based violence, and LGBTQ+ rights are personal crises that need to be addressed and supported. Theron went on to say that new immigration policies have 'destroyed the lives of families, not criminals'. She also recognised the light that needs to be shed on helping those struggling with the erosion of trans and queer existence. South African-born Theron further noted that cuts to foreign aid have crippled HIV and AIDS in her homeland, which could cause people to 'lose their lives'. Despite not naming the Trump administration directly, she emphasised how 'we're moving backwards, fast.' Her remarks about the lavish wedding resonated with many people on social media as she urged celebrities to use their influence for activism and world change. Theron's charity event famously overlapped with the Bezos affair, with the Amazon boss tying the knot on San Giorgio Maggiore island. The guest list was truly dazzling, with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, and Ivanka Trump just a handful of the star-studded entourage. Roughly 200 high-profile guests were in attendance, from Bill Gates to Kim Kardashian. It wasn't all smooth sailing, though, as a few guests showed up uninvited when protests greeted the Italian ceremony—Greenpeace and other groups rocked up to the wealthy event and accused Bezos of flaunting his money and evading taxes. There was even a Greenpeace banner in St Mark's Square that read: 'If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax'—a clear dig at the billionaire couple. Critics argue that the extravagant celebration created too much tourism, which potentially posed a threat to the lives of locals. The Mayor of Venice was not angry, though, and actually defended the couple by stressing that love is universal, and the city officials appreciated the donations made by Bezos and Sanchez. More Trending To avoid any trouble, the newlyweds donated £1million each to three separate environmental organisations and pledged that they would not accept gifts. Bezos proposed to Sanchez in May 2023 – of course, it was on a yacht in the South of France. The businessman was previously married to MacKenzie Scott, with whom he shares four children. Sanchez wore a mermaid-style Dolce & Gabbana dress for her special day, with a layer of handmade lace, not forgetting the floor-length veil. Got a story?
