Fact Check: Samuel L. Jackson did not testify at Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial

Yahoo23-05-2025

Claim:
Actor Samuel L. Jackson testified against Sean 'Diddy' Combs during his trial in New York.
Rating:
A claim alleging Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson testified against Sean "Diddy" Combs, the music mogul on trial in a New York federal court facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, circulated online in May 2025.
The rumor further purported that Jackson named comedian Steve Harvey as a coconspirator in the crimes of which Combs is accused, alleging Harvey "groomed" his stepdaughter, Lori Harvey, for the rapper.
The trial was on the minds of many internet users, as Combs faces a potential sentence of life in prison if found guilty. Users spread the rumor on social media platforms like Facebook (archived) and TikTok (archived) and it was particularly pervasive on YouTube (archived, archived, archived).
A grand jury indictment further charged Combs with creating "a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in, and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice."

However, the claim that Jackson testified against Sean "Diddy" Combs is false. There is no evidence that Jackson appeared at the trial and searches on Google and DuckDuckGo reveal no credible outlet reported this claim.
Further, while Combs and Lori Harvey reportedly dated in the past, there is no evidence that Steve Harvey was involved in Combs' alleged crimes or was mentioned during the trial as of this writing.
Instead, on May 22, 2025, a video created at least partially with artificial intelligence (AI) appeared on a YouTube channel with a disclaimer that read, "The content on this channel may contain gossip-based information, rumors, or exaggerated portrayals of reality. Please exercise your own discretion while watching and remember that not all information presented may be factual or verified."
Further, the video itself contained a disclaimer in its description that read, "this content is fictional and intended for entertainment purposes only. No verified court documents or official statements confirm these claims."
The description of the video also featured a note under the heading "how this content was made" that read, "Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated."
Indeed, plugging the video into the AI-detection tool Hive Moderation revealed that the voice-over audio was 99% likely to have been generated with AI. Many of the visuals used in the video are authentic clips of Jackson and Combs from prior interviews or courtroom sketches available online.

The same YouTube channel, WhatIsMyStarWorth, shared similar false claims Snopes has previously fact-checked. These include allegations that Usher testified against Combs and that a secret Prince recording was played during the trial.
A quick look at the channel's video page revealed a slew of rumors conjured about various notable names with no tangible involvement in the Combs trial using AI-generated thumbnail images of Combs and the celebrities in question.
(WhatIsMyStarWorth on YouTube)
The video purported that the news came from an outlet called Inner City Press, though there is no evidence that Inner City Press reported about Jackson in relation to the trial. Further, the outlet previously debunked similar claims that falsely credited it with being the source of the fictional news.

Randy White, husband of country music star Lorrie Morgan, dies at 72 after cancer battle

Randy White, husband of country music star Lorrie Morgan, dies at 72 after cancer battle Randy White, husband of country singer Lorrie Morgan, has died following a battle with mouth cancer. He was reportedly 72. Morgan, best known for her hits "Five Minutes," "What Part of No," and "I Didn't Know My Own Strength," announced White's death on June 1 in an emotional post shared on her social media pages. The singer, who was previously married to late country singer Keith Whitley, did not share the date of White's death. "Randy has been my partner, my champion and my rock for 17 years," Morgan wrote alongside a photo of the couple. "Our big, wonderful family and I are devastated at the loss of this truly kind and incredible man. I was blessed by his love. Ran-Ran, I will love and miss you forever." USA TODAY has reached out to Morgan's representative for comment. White's death comes nearly two months after Morgan, 65, was forced to cancel a pair of performances due to White's ongoing treatment for mouth cancer. Morgan's manager confirmed to The Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network, in April that the Grand Ole Opry star's spouse was recently readmitted to a Tennessee hospital amid the health ordeal. Mouth cancer, also known as oral cancer, occurs when a growth of cells develops in the mouth, according to Mayo Clinic. The cancer can affect various parts of the mouth, including the lips, gums, tongue, inner lining of the cheeks, and the roof and floor of the mouth. Morgan's son, fellow singer Jesse Keith Whitley, shared his reaction to White's death in a heartfelt Facebook post. The tribute included a sweet collage of throwback photos of White over the years. "As I sit here in the room with hospice, I don't know really what to think or to say about this situation," Whitley wrote. "But I can say that the recent years of my life, all the way back to when I was 22-23 years old, this great man has been here and loved my mom and also me (and) my sister as we were his own." Reflecting on White's impact on Morgan and her family, Whitley said White "has shown unconditional love to my mother and been the most gentle soul to ever grace this entire family." "As we say our goodbyes, I reminisce of all the good times we have had (and) the battles he has helped overcome," Whitley wrote. "I can't tell you the amount of love that has poured in from fans, family and friends. We will miss you always and forever and our hearts are shattered in losing you. But you have fought one helluva fight RanMan!" Contributing: Audrey Gibbs, The Tennessean

What does 'Tudum' mean? What to know about Netflix Tudum 2025 live event

Netflix Tudum 2025 is headed to the world's largest streaming service on Saturday, June 1with fans eager to hear release dates, see exclusive footage and learn more about the streamer's eagerly anticipated upcoming TV show and movie releases. "Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event" will feature the casts of "Stranger Things," "Wednesday," Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein," and more, while providing behind-the-scenes content and live music. While Netflix's Tudum has been an annual event since 2020, this year it will be held in California and air live on Netflix as a special. Will the special reveal the "Stranger Things" season 5 release date? How about the official trailer for "Squid Games" or more about the launch date for the latest entry in the popular "Knives Out" movie series? Here's all you need to know. Tudum is the spelled-out word meant to represent the two-note sound that plays as the letter "N" is spelled at the start of Netflix's movies and series. (Mind blown, right?) Tudum is also the name of the companion site to Netflix, which offers fans a peak into deleted scenes, audition tapes, interviews, bonus videos and more. The site also provides the latest news on new shows and movies, provides data on top movies on the platform and offers recommended viewing based on your preferences. The onomatopoetic word also refers to the global pop culture event first held in São Paulo, Brazil, in January 2020. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th events were livestreamed on YouTube, and eventually broadcast globally from Brazil in June 2023. Neflix's Tudum has been an annual event since 2020, but this year is the first it'll be held in the U.S. and air live on Netflix. The format for this year's show — dubbed "Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event" — is a combination of "fanfare, variety show, comedic, music, live performances, talent, appearances," according to Variety. The event will give audience members a sneak peek at upcoming movies and shows via teasers, trailers and clips, and will introduce guests from TV and film, as well as include live music. Tudum 2025 is being held at the Kia Forum, a multipurpose arena adjacent to Los Angeles in Inglewood, California. Tickets are sold out on Ticketmaster, but they are available on trustworthy and vetted reseller sites StubHub, Vivid Seats and SeatGeek, with tickets as low as $12. Netflix Tudum 2025 will begin streaming live at 8 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. Pacific). Netflix will be the sole streaming platform for Tudum 2025. Netflix does not offer a free trial, but you can cancel at any time or change your plan without any fees. Here are the plans you can sign up for: Standard with ads for $7.99/month, Standard without ads for $17.99/month and Premium (4K, HDR without ads) for $24.99/month. Actress Sofia Carson, known for "Carry-On" and "The Life List" will host the live event. Tudum 2025 will showcase and tease multiple shows and movies, with a strong lineup of guest stars, some of whom have been kept under wraps. Cast members will appear from the following TV shows and movies: MOVIES Frankenstein Happy Gilmore 2 My Oxford Year The Life List The RIP Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery TV SHOWS America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (Season 2) Emily in Paris (Season 5) Forever (Season 1) Ginny & Georgia (Season 3) Love is Blind My Life with the Walter Boys (Season 2) Nobody Wants This (Season 2) ONE PIECE (Season 2) Outer Banks (Season 5) Squid Game (Season 3) Stranger Things (Season 5) Wednesday (Season 2) WWE Bridgerton, which will be returning for Season 4 in 2026, was not specifically named, but a snippet of the show was featured in the Tudum 2025 trailer, hinting at a possible teaser. Lady Gaga will be performing at Tudum 2025 as well as Hanumankind (aka Sooraj Cherukat), a rapper from India. Lori Comstock is a New Jersey-based journalist with the Mid-Atlantic Connect Team.
