Cubs place LHP Shoto Imanaga (hamstring strain) on 15-day IL
May 5 - Chicago Cubs left-hander Shoto Imanaga was placed on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring on Monday.
The Cubs are without Imanaga and a second top starter -- Justin Steele -- as they begin a three-game home series with the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Because of an off day Thursday, the Cubs could skip Imanaga's turn in the rotation.
In eight starts this season, Imanaga (3-2) has posted a 2.82 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 14 walks in 44 2/3 innings. He was the Cubs' lone All-Star last season as a rookie and started on Opening Day 2025 in the Tokyo Series against the Dodgers.
Imanaga was injured in the sixth inning of a scoreless pitcher's duel Sunday with the Brewers and Freddy Peralta when he reached for the back of his left leg in pain.
Imanaga also left his previous start Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth inning with leg cramps.
Right-hander Gavin Hollowell joined the Cubs on Monday from Triple-A Iowa and is expected to work out of the bullpen.
Steele was placed on the 15-day injured list with left elbow tendonitis on April 9.

Chicago Cubs star Nico Hoerner was on the end of a brutal ejection that has left many fans claiming he was harshly treated by the home plate umpire. Hoerner was at the plate on Sunday as the Cubs took on the Detroit Tigers on the road, but his afternoon came to an early end when he was judged to have taken his comments a step too far with the ump Derek Thomas. Marquee Sports Network's TV cameras have now revealed the full conversation between the player and umpire... so do you think the infielder was harshly treated? In the clip, the umpire can be seen calling a strike against Hoerner, before the batter turns to him and says: 'You're having a really bad day so far.' Immediately, he is tossed from the game, before questioning: 'I just said, "you're having a really bad day so far"?' He is then joined by his manager Craig Counsell, who defends his player by claiming: 'What are you doing? That's nothing. You've got to be kidding me!' After the game, Hoerner faced the media and said: 'Yeah I don't think it's really that often that you can verbatim say to the press afterwards what got you thrown out. 'I said, "you're having a really bad day"...' He then followed his comments with a long pause, while reporters can be heard laughing in the background. Angels obtain LaMonte Wade Jr. from Giants
June 9 - The Los Angeles Angels acquired veteran first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. and cash considerations from the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. San Francisco will send a player to be named or cash to the Angels. San Francisco designated Wade for assignment on Wednesday. Wade, 31, is playing on a one-year deal worth $5 million. A .238 career batter, Wade was hitting just .167 in 50 games with a homer and 15 RBIs. He was in his fifth season with the Giants, batting .240 with 52 HRs and 178 RBIs in 488 games with the team. Overall, he has 54 home runs and 182 RBIs with the Minnesota Twins (2019-20) and Giants. He was selected in the ninth round of the 2015 draft by the Twins. The Angels designated right-hander Michael Darrell-Hicks for assignment to open up a 40-man roster spot.
