Malavika shared her views during an interview with Hauterrfly. Malavika said, "I don't think this disparity has ever ended in the film industry. I also think that men have really gotten smart, and I have seen this in a lot of male actors, suddenly, in the last 5–6 years, they know how to put on the mask of being woke."
She added, 'They know exactly what lines to say that make them come across like a feminist, as a very forward-thinking person, someone who treats women as equals. And I have seen them go back from the public eye and become the most misogynistic person ever. It's hypocrisy."
In 2024, Malavika starred in the Tamil film Thangalaan and the Hindi film Yudhra. She will soon share the screen with Prabhas in the Telugu film The Raja Saab. The film also stars Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar. Sanjay Dutt is rumoured to play a cameo in the film, though an official announcement has yet to be made. The film went on floors in 2022 but was officially announced in 2024. She will also be seen with Karthi in the Tamil film Sardar 2, apart from Hridayapoorvam in Malayalam.
Malavika will be acting with Mohanlal for the first time in Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad. Recently, she hit back at fan pointing out 33 year age gap between her and Mohanlal. A fan wrote, '65 year old man playing the love interest of a 30 year old. What is with these veteran actors desperate to play roles that don't fit their ages?' Mohanlal is 64 and Malavika is 31. She hit back, asking them who said she was romancing Mohanlal in the film, 'who told you it's a love interest? Stop judging people and a film with your half baked baseless assumptions.'

R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'

Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths. Kamal Haasan's Thug Life expected to suffer up to ₹40 crore loss at box office following Karnataka release uncertainty

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's Thug Life finally released on Thursday, bracing chaos and controveries. The film is now being screened across India except for Karnataka over Kamal's controversial Tamil-Kannada remark. While the film is set to register a good start at the box office, undeniably it will suffer due to its ban in Karnataka. According to a report of The Hindu, Thug Life might see a hefty loss of up to ₹ 40 crore as its Karnataka release is in limbo. Producer and distributor G Dhananjayan shared with the outlet that the Kamal Haasan film will miss out on about ₹ 35-40 crore gross at the box office and ₹ 12-15 crore share to producers share for the Karnataka blockage. The assumed loss was calculated based on the performance of previous hit pan-India releases like Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2, RRR, and Kalki 2898 AD, which earned around ₹ 74-104 crore of over ₹ 1,000 crore worldwide revenue, from the Karnataka circuit. Dhananjayan said, "With the four Telugu films grossing a total of ₹ 5832 crore, the Karnataka box office revenue alone amounts to ₹ 391.20 crore, while the north Indian market accounts for ₹ 2361.60 crore. The Karnataka market accounts for around 7% of the total revenue.' Other high-grossing Tamil films like Jailer, Leo, Ponniyin Selvan, The GOAT, and Vikram also registered a major amount from Karnataka, which plays a crucial role in the South film business. 'For Tamil films too, the Karnataka market accounts for 7% of the total revenue,' he added. Thug Life is a gangster action drama film. It is directed by Mani Ratnam and co-written by Kamal Haasan, who is also producing the film under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International, alongside Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. Besides Kamal in the lead, it also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and Baburaj. The film marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam after their 1987 film, Nayakan. The film landed in the middle of a controversy after Kamal Haasan said, "Kannada was born out of Tamil' during a film event. After the film's release in Karnataka was opposed by the film body, Kamal moved to the High Court.
