Jess Learmonth delighted with T100 Triathlon podium
Learmonth took third place in Canada behind defending champion Taylor Knibb and Julie Derron.
It marked a breakthrough result for Learmonth, who upgraded from finishes of 13th and seventh in Singapore and San Francisco respectively to stake her claim as a contender heading into the rest of the season.
'I am totally shocked to get on the podium,' she said. 'It was enjoyable, I was having the best time. I've not ran much so I thought if I could have a good swim and bike, we will see what happens.
'Taylor keeps it very honest and keeps the pressure on, which helps a lot. I got a nice gap and felt pretty comfortable on the run.
'It is so difficult to push the pace at the front and [Taylor] does that so well. It was really good to have someone to ride with, it helps to have someone to keep the pressure on. I was just focussed on staying together.']
Third place moves Learmonth into fourth in the overall standings behind Derron, Knibb and fellow Brit Kate Waugh, who was absent in Vancouver.
Compatriot Lucy Charles-Barclay is just a point behind in fifth after she finished fourth in Canada, with the Brits likely to all be eyeing up a home race in London on 9 August.
It is the next stop on the global T100 Triathlon Tour, which will also make stops on the French Riviera, Valencia, Las Vegas and Dubai before culminating in its final in Qatar in December.
A place on the podium is particularly poignant for Learmonth, as she continues her return to the top of the sport after giving birth to her son Frederick in September 2023.
The Olympic gold medallist now balances her training with motherhood, but is thrilled to be back amongst the very best.
She added: 'It means a lot, certainly with all the help and support I get for Fred. To get a result like that makes it all the more worthwhile. I love the circuit, I love being with the girls and having a laugh. This just tops it off.
'I hope I can take confidence from it. I just need to recover well from this and put some training together on the run.'

'I watched the Club World Cup on DAZN and the extras won me over'
The FIFA Club World Cup kicked off on Saturday so our TV writer Jake Hackney registered for a free DAZN account to catch all the action, here's what he made of the streamer. The FIFA Club World Cup kicked off over the weekend so I bagged myself a free DAZN account to see what all the fuss is about. Like many Brits, I've always associated DAZN with boxing, but as that's never been my sport I'm yet to truly explore the platform. DAZN is now the exclusive global broadcaster of all 63 fixtures in the Club World Cup and is airing every game for free, which is definitely more my bag. FIFA has really gone all out with this competition, revamping it with a new format featuring 32 of the best clubs from around the world. There's Manchester City and Chelsea representing the Premier League, plus the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami and Boca Juniors. The competition runs through to the final on July 13, and fans can register for a free DAZN account to watch every fixture. It certainly feels strange not watching football on the BBC or Sky Sports, but considering the quality of content and amount of extras on offer, I wouldn't be surprised if DAZN becomes more synonymous with football in the coming years. I opted for the free account, but there's also the option to upgrade to DAZN's Premium plan from £9.99. This includes every Club World Cup game in HDR picture quality and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, plus highlights, replays, fewer adverts and full access to the rest of the DAZN platform. But even with a free account, there's plenty of football content to keep fans entertained in the lull between the Premier League and EFL seasons. Watch the Club World Cup free on DAZN Product Description What struck me was how much there is to watch besides the live games, with countless features, shows and compilations right there on the Club World Cup homepage. There's interviews with some of the big names taking part including Harry Kane and Pep Guardiola, as well as DAZN's 'Icons' series, which takes a closer look at each team and the 12 USA host cities. I've also been enjoying the plethora of documentaries centred around greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona and Brazilian Ronaldo. There's a host of vintage footage featuring all the goals scored by certain teams at previous FIFA World Cups, starring legends like Alessandro Del Piero, Raúl and Didier Drogba. In short, there's plenty to tuck into. But it's easy to follow the latest competition too, with every upcoming fixture displayed on the Club World Cup homepage complete with dates and kick-off times, as well as the option to display the group brackets and tables, making it easy to keep up to date with the current standings. You can follow your favourite teams in the competition to receive a push notification before their games, so I followed Chelsea and Man City. DAZN now reminds me about each of their fixtures just in case I forget – though as some kick off in the early hours, I think I'll wait for their DAZN highlights. For those who don't want to sign up for another subscription, DAZN has also sublicensed select fixtures to Channel 5, meaning 23 games will be broadcast on both DAZN and 5. This may be a good option for less tech-savvy football fans who are not bothered about every game. Of course, there's also a classic Sky Sports which can be purchased for £35 a month for a 24-month contract alongside essential Sky TV. This includes nine dedicated channels, including the Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA, Netball and much more, though the length of contract may be a downside for some. DAZN boasts some huge names in its Club World Cup punditry lineup, including none other than Brazilian legend Ronaldo. Other stars include John Obi Mikel and Sami Khedira, with Conor McNamara, Andros Townsend, Brad Friedel, Rob Green among the commentators, which makes a nice change from the usual voices on Sky or TNT Sports. I've been using DAZN on both my Samsung smart TV and iPhone 13 and it's performed largely ok. There have been times where it's been slightly slow to respond and there's been a bit of lag, but once a piece of content like a live game or documentary has loaded up I've experienced no major issues.

Jury split on Rangers transfer upgrades but departing Celtic star and £30m man spark a unanimous verdict
Our top team don't shirk any of the big issues as a defining summer kicks off Greg Taylor's future is up in the air with FC Copenhagen the latest club to declare an interest in the Celtic defender. What would be the best move for his career? Scott McDermott: For what he's done at Celtic, Taylor deserves a move to a top club either in England or abroad. If he goes down south, it should be to a Premier League side - or one with aspirations to reach the top flight. And if he leaves the UK, it's important it's to a club in the Champions or Europa League. Craig Swan: At this stage of his career, Taylor will want to play regularly and doing so in a quiet environment will be a nice change from the chaos of the Glasgow bowl. Michael Gannon: Staying at Celtic. The full back will get plenty of action, even with Kieran Tierney back, and he'll be competing for silverware and in the Champions League. Moving house is a pain in the backside anyway. Graeme Young: He's one of the most underrated players in recent Scottish history and any team who wants to use his ability as an inverted full-back should be at the top of his list. Don't rule out his next adventure being the start of a continental odyssey. New Rangers boss Russell Martin has been linked with loads of players as he starts an Ibrox rebuild with Swansea's Harry Darling on the wanted list. What area of the squad needs the most strengthening? Scott McD: Where do you start? That Rangers squad needs a total overhaul so Martin has a job on his hands. He needs two centre-backs, a full-back, a defensive midfielder, a winger and a striker - and that's just for starters! He'll also have to offload several under-performing players during this window. Craig: Defence is key. Rangers conceded bad goals at various stages throughout the term and must be tighter. Michael: Centre back is certainly an issue and they'll need a couple. But Rangers also need to add pace in the wide areas and another striker to hang their hat on with Cyriel Dessers on the way out. There's a lot of work to be done and it needs to be done sharpish. Graeme: An elite central defender must be the target but this team won't be in Martin's vision until a modern sweeper-keeper is sought, if the new boss gets that early it could have a transformative effect. Scotland skipper Andy Robertson could be on his way to La Liga with Atletico Madrid in for the Liverpool left-back. Would a move to Spain be good for him or should he look to stay at Anfield? Scott McD: At 31, Robertson has achieved everything he wanted to at Liverpool and maybe it's time for a fresh challenge. Working with Diego Simeone at Atleti might just give him a new lease of life - which could hopefully benefit Scotland. Craig: Robertson has nothing left to achieve at Liverpool and a move to Madrid would be superb. Michael: It would be a shame if Robertson didn't get a proper farewell at Liverpool after being one of the best signings in their history. At the same time, Atletico is about as attractive a proposition as it gets, as going to a huge club in a superb league must be tempting at this stage of his career. Graeme: It's the perfect transfer, Diego Simeone will bring out the Scot's inner grit and the Ateli boss is famed for allowing his full-backs to wreak havoc in attack. The Madrid derby against his old pal Trent will be tasty too. Dundee boss Steven Pressley's comments about not being a winning gaffer didn't go down well with Dark Blues fans. But what should realistic expectations at Dens Park look like this season? Scott McD: Staying in the league is the priority. Losing key players like Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan is a blow but Dundee have the potential to challenge for the top six - then establish themselves in the top half of the table. If Pressley achieves that, he'll soon win over the punters. Craig Swan: Top-six. It's not easy, but it's a proper ambition to have with St Mirren and Kilmarnock getting in there recently. Michael: You've got to admire Pressley's straight talking and blunt honesty but he has hit work cut out winning over the punters. Dundee's aims should be the same as about half the Premiership – stay out of bother and try to sneak into the top six. Europe and runs in the cups would be a major success. Graeme: The new Dundee boss is one of the game's good guys but it is an appointment which feels fraught with danger. An early wobble and Pressley's honest remarks will be used against him. A clear vision and fewer relegation fears should be viewed as a success this season.

F1 stewards decide outcome of Red Bull's George Russell protest in statement
George Russell has escaped punishment after Red Bull protested his victory at the Canadian Grand Prix. That means the Brit keeps his win secured in Montreal on Sunday from pole position, with Max Verstappen forced to settle for second place. That was the order in which they finished on track, behind the safety car after Lando Norris crashed late on into team-mate Oscar Piastri. But the result was in doubt for more than five hours after the chequered flag flew after Red Bull accused Russell of driving erratically behind the safety car. Verstappen had complained over the radio that Russell was dropping too far behind the safety car and, at one point, said he had "aggressively braked". Red Bull made the complaints official and both drivers were called to a meeting with the stewards after the podium celebrations. The stewards found the protest to be admissible and so a full hearing took place. In it, Red Bull representatives claimed that Russell had braked hard and unnecessarily on the back straight which led to Verstappen inadvertently overtaking behind the safety car. They also accused the Brit of "displaying unsportsmanlike intent" by complaining over the radio that Verstappen had overtaking him, "knowing that it would be overheard by race control and in the hope that Verstappen would be investigated". In Russell's defence, Mercedes argued that regular braking is normal behind the safety car to maintain temperatures, to make sure the car was prepared in case racing resumed. They also said that what their driver had said over the radio was "nothing more than factual". Mercedes also said Verstappen should have been ready to anticipate Russell's braking and insisted that the race leader had not tried to get his rival in trouble through his comments over the radio. Explaining their decision to dismiss the protest, the stewards said: "We accept the driver of Car 63 [Russell]'s explanation of the incident and we are satisfied that the driver of Car 63 did not drive erratically by braking where he did or to the extent he did. Formula 1 fans can watch every practice, qualifying and race live with Sky's new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle in a new deal that saves £192. As well as Sky Sports access, this includes more than 100 TV channels and free subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+. "We are not satisfied that by simply reporting to his team that Car 1 had overtaken that he engaged in unsportsmanlike conduct. Even though the protest did not allege it, we are also satisfied that by braking where and when he did and to the extent he did, the driver of Car 63 did not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct." As a result, Red Bull's protest was rejected because it was deemed to be "not founded". So Russell keeps his first victory of 2025 while Verstappen had to settle for second, with Kimi Antonelli rounding off the top three with his first Formula 1 podium on a red-letter day for Mercedes.
