With Mike Maignan nearing a move to Chelsea, Milan have reportedly shifted their focus on Svilar who is in talks to extend his contract with Roma.

However, negotiations with Roma have suffered a setback as the Giallorossi's proposal was considered low by the player and his agents.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Milan director Igli Tare met with Svilar's entourage a few days ago.
The Rossoneri are prepared to submit him a contract proposal of 3.3 million euros per year until 2030.
Roma must accelerate in their talks if they want to secure the player's long-term future.

La Liga superstar reluctant to join Arsenal or Chelsea this summer
Arsenal have already all-but completed a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi, but he may not be the only La Liga player to make the move to north London this summer. They also have a strong interest in Nico Williams, but their chances of signing him during the transfer window looks to have reduced. Williams continues to be one of Athletic Club's star players, but because of this, he has attracted significant interest. Barcelona failed to sign him last summer, and 12 months, new names have entered the running – specifically, there has been interest shown from Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich. Nico Williams wants to stay in La Liga But the chances that any of those teams gets a deal done this summer are looking slim. As per Sport, Williams is reluctant to move outside of Spain, despite the fact that Arsenal and Chelsea would both be willing to activate the release clause in his Athletic contract. Imave via Marca / Ricardo Larreina Despite rejecting Barcelona last summer, Williams has an interest in joining the La Liga champions in 2025. But unfortunately for the Spain international, they are not considering him as an option at this stage, with Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford being the club's primary left wing targets. Advertisement At this stage, the most likely scenario is that Williams signs a new contract with Athletic. His current deal expires in 2027, so there has been increased jeopardy about his future. But if Barcelona (or Real Madrid) do not come calling, there is a good chance that the 22-year-old extends his stay in Bilbao. Should he do this, Athletic would look to significantly increase the value of his release clause, which currently stands at €60m. If this happens, the chances of a future transfer would decrease by a considerable amount, considering that Los Leones very rarely negotiate the sales of their star players.

Federico Gambarini/dpa Italy coach Luciano Spalletti said on Sunday he has been sacked, days after a shock 3-0 defeat for the Azzurri in a World Cup qualifier in Norway which raised fears they could miss the finals a third straight time. Spalletti said he was informed by the national federation that he has to go after Monday's qualifier against Moldova. Advertisement "I am sorry. I would have preferred to stay and tried to change things," Spelletti told reporters. "But I take notice of the sacking based on the negative results." Spalletti, 66, said he has a good relationship with federation boss Gabriele Gravina and that he would ask the federation to terminate his contract until 2026 after Monday's match. "I owe this to the federation which always supported me when the results were not coming," he said. Italian Soccer Promotion Places Settled After Pescara Win On Penalties
Pescara have clinched the last Serie B promotion spot after defeating Ternana in the Serie C play-off final. Dolphins goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari was decisive, saving three penalties during the shootout to allow Silvio Baldini's side to return to the Italian second division after a four-year absence. Despite winning the match 1-0, Ternana needed a two-goal victory to avoid penalties, as Pescara had secured a 1-0 away first-leg win at the Stadio Libero Liberati. Plizzari singlehandedly kept Pescara in the contest throughout the match, making multiple saves during regular and extra time. The 25-year-old would later repeat his heroics by denying Alfredo Donnarumma, Tiago Casasola and Alexis Ferrante from the spot, sparking fireworks at the Stadio Adriatico in front of a sellout crowd. The former Italy midfielder came out of retirement to take over from Ignazio Abate who was sacked in April. Despite losing at home in the first leg courtesy of Gaetano Letizia's long-range goal, fortunes changed at the Adriatico for Ternana when Pescara midfielder Matteo Dagasso was sent off for a mistimed tackle on Samuele Damiani in the 62nd minute. With the numerical advantage, the Rossoverdi piled on the pressure, and second-half substitute Kees de Boer levelled the tie with a superb strike from outside the area with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. There was no way past Plizzari, the Pescara captain suffering an injury to his left knee while making a fingertip save from Damiani's curling effort. Still, the former Milan youth player recovered to ensure Pescara would limp their way to penalties. Brando Moruzzi, Antonino De Marco and Riccardo Tonin then converted from 12 yards for Pescara, and Plizzari palmed away Donnarumma's attempt to finish the job. Baldini's side deservedly won the shootout 3-1, a result which sees Pescara join automatically promoted teams Padova (Group A), Entella (Group B) and Avellino (Group C) in Serie B for the 2025-26 season. 'I don't know how many years I dreamed of this night, it has been such a long wait. I know what it means to feel the pain of going out on penalties. This team has given me the opportunity to be reborn as a footballer and as a person. I gave my all.' In all, 28 of 60 Serie C teams take part in the play-offs, a knockout system where teams as low as tenth can participate. Pescara's path to glory included a narrow 2-1 win against Giana Erminio, a 2-2 draw with Catania, and respective blowout victories over Vis Pesaro (6-2) and Audace Cerignola (5-2). Adding to the complicated process, nine teams are promoted from the fourth tier which is deemed as semi-professional. Known as Serie D, it contains 165 clubs categorised geographically into nine regional groups. The quartet of successful third-division clubs replace Brescia, Cosenza and Cittadella, plus the loser of the Serie B relegation play-out between Sampdoria and Salernitana, to be played over two legs on 15 and 20 June.
