Watch: Jack Robinson Stuffed Himself Silly on Kirra's Cyclone Swell
Before Jack Robinson qualified for the WSL Championship Tour, he moved out of his longtime home in Margaret River, Australia, for the sake of qualifying. He put down roots near the Gold Coast, more than 2,000 miles away, so he could level up in more 'average' waves compared to the barrels he was used to in Western Australia. It was rooted in logic, being that these were the kinds of waves he needed to excel in if he wanted a shot to join the CT.
It was a smart move and has paid off well for Robbo. Seven event wins, and his tube-riding chops haven't dropped one iota. The thing, however, is that the Goldie does get really, really good from time to time. Like this historic Cyclone Alfred swell, for instance.
Earlier this week, before the storm came closer to land, the swell lines undulating into the Superbank sandbar looked comical. And Jack looks right at home. He weaves, stalls and carves with trademark efficiency. In the early stages of the bender, he paddles shoulder to shoulder with everybody else, then gets on the jet ski when the waves pick up another notch. Those latter sessions take up the bulk of the video and offer an easy speed tutorial. Grey skies and gray waters, rights thundering down the point and an Andy Irons-inspired spray job. A good day, no matter which coast you call home.
'Easily some of the best Kirra I've ever surfed—one for the history books,' Jack writes in the description. 'Kirra's wild from the beach, but from the lineup, it's a whole different beast! Seeing those things spit and knowing someone's deep inside is next level. When it all lines up, the Gold Coast of Australia can provide some of the most perfect waves in the world. This will be a day to remember!'

ESPN announce Lee Corso's final College GameDay will be Texas at Ohio State in Week 1
ESPN announce Lee Corso's final College GameDay will be Texas at Ohio State in Week 1 Lee Corso's final ESPN College GameDay will feature the Texas Longhorns. ESPN has announced the 2025 debut of the popular college football pregame show will be in Columbus, OH on Aug. 30 for the Longhorns visit to the Horseshoe to take on Ohio State. The show will also be Corso's last chance to make a headgear pick. ESPN revealed earlier this year Corso would be retiring after Week 1 of the 2025 season. ESPN will use the episode to honor Corso's 38 college football seasons on the air. "Special programming honoring and celebrating Corso's career will be present throughout the Week 1 show in addition to the GameDay crew previewing the 2025 season and all the action of the kickoff Saturday slate," ESPN disclosed. "The season-opening episode will be located in its traditional spot on Ohio State's campus before finishing the show inside 'The Shoe' where Corso will make his final headgear pick in front of 100,000 fans ahead of the Buckeyes' noon kick." Ironically, Corso's first headgear pick was also in Columbus back in 1996. 'My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,' Corso, who will turn 90 in August, said in a statement. 'I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.' 'ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years," Corso added. "They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans…truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful.' College GameDay will go live at 8 a.m. CT on ESPN on Aug. 30. The first two hours of the show will be broadcast from outside St. John Arena while the crew will move inside Ohio Stadium for the final hour of the show. FOX's Big Noon Kickoff pregame show will also be in Columbus for Ohio State vs. Texas as FOX will broadcast the game on its national network at noon.

True freshmen shine as LSU baseball heads to College World Series
True freshmen shine as LSU baseball heads to College World Series True freshmen playing meaningful baseball in the SEC is a rarity with the talent level among all teams, but LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson takes a different approach it's paying off. Nobody in our league plays freshmen," Johnson said. "They just don't. We do, and they play pretty darn good baseball." In both rounds of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, the youngsters gave LSU a boost. Derek Curiel remained a fixture near the top of the lineup while pitchers Casan Evans and Cooper Williams made high-leverage appearances. Curiel finished the West Virginia series with five RBI, four hits, including a home run, and three walks. Evans earned the win in relief during the regional championship game by throwing six innings of one run ball with 12 strikeouts. Williams pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief after the Tigers fell behind Little Rock. Johnson will continue to rely on the freshmen to move his team through the College World Series and beyond as he continues building the LSU program. "They just need to be themselves," Johnson said. "I'm proud of them for contributing on a team this good. To contribute as much as that has is awesome and they're the foundation of this thing moving forward." LSU will play begin its College World Series journey when the Tigers meet Arkansas at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday.
