Canadians bypassing the U.S.? Not the case at Travel Leaders Network event
LAS VEGAS -- Despite many Canadians boycotting travel to the U.S. as a response to the tariffs implemented by the Trump administration, Canadian members of Travel Leaders Network (TLN) had a strong showing at its annual Edge conference, ongoing this week at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. According to Christine James, vice president of Canada for TLN, about 100 Canadians usually attend Edge. This year, 154 are in attendance. "When the tariff situation came into play, we did see some fall off, but at the same time we had a lot of members that were still on a waitlist that we were able to backfill," James said. She added that those who did choose to come reported seeing the value of the investment in their business and the learning opportunities presented to them. Where Canadians are vacationing Travel Leaders Network members in Canada are still seeing growth this year, James said. While they do have clients unwilling to come to the U.S., they aren't canceling trips. Instead, they are shifting. Canadian members have been selling a lot of Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. "At this point, anyway, we're not seeing loss of revenue," she said. "We're seeing a shift."

United Has a New Nonstop Daily That Makes It Easier to Visit the 'Sunniest Island' in Croatia
United Airlines has expanded its nonstop route between Newark Liberty International Airport and Croatia. The daily red-eye flight lands in Dubrovnik, and the sunny isle of Hvar is just a three-hour ferry ride away. Hvar is known for its Adriatic coastline and UNESCO-recognized are places where time seems to stretch out like a sun-drenched afternoon, where the clamor of modern life softens to the murmur of waves and the clink of glasses under vine-shaded pergolas. Hvar, a slender Croatian island adrift in the Adriatic, is one such place. Long favored by yachters and sunseekers, Hvar is known for being Croatia's sunniest island, particularly during the summer months of June, July, and August. The island—and the whole of Croatia—just got twice as easy to visit thanks to new daily flights that connect Newark, New Jersey (EWR) and Dubrovnik (DBV). The expanded route, operated by United Airlines, builds off of a seasonal service that previously ran between the two cities four times weekly. Now, Americans can travel directly to Croatia daily on a nine-hour nonstop red-eye flight that arrives in Dubrovnik the next morning. The expanded nonstop service started in early May 2025 and ends in late August 2025, reflecting 'a more than doubling of available seats,' for the summer, according to a November 2024 press release shared by Dubrovnik Airport. The Newark to Dubrovnik flight is currently the only nonstop flight connecting the U.S. and Croatia. The overnight flight lands in Dubrovnik just after 10 a.m. local time, allowing U.S. travelers time to explore the coastal city before heading to the island of Hvar. Dubrovnik, which sits on the Adriatic Sea, is known for its charming Old Town and surrounding 16th-century stone walls. From Dubrovnik, getting to Hvar is as easy as hopping on a ferry that runs between the two destinations four times daily during the peak season. The ferry ride takes just over three hours. Upon arrival into the ferry port in Hvar Town, the island's main hub, travelers will be welcomed by sun-drenched marble streets and Renaissance architecture. Further afield are hillsides covered with lavender and tiny stone villages tucked among olive groves. The seasonal flight also serves as an entry point to other islands: many travelers take ferries to the Pakleni Islands, which are just off the southwest coast of Hvar and renowned for their secluded beaches and rocky coves. Walton Goggins' Wife Nadia Conners Breaks Silence on Aimee Lou Wood Speculation
Walton Goggins' wife, Nadia Conners, addressed speculation about his relationship to White Lotus costar Aimee Lou Wood. 'It's odd to see [the speculation], but it's an indication of how much people were invested in the fictional characters,' Conners, 55, said in an interview with Hello! Magazine published on Friday, May 16. 'I take it as a sign that he's become quite popular.' Goggins, 53, and Wood, 31, played doomed lovers Rick and Chelsea in the third season of the HBO Emmy-winning anthology series. The costars took part in promotion of the show together, but fans noticed they soon stopped following one another on social media. Goggins reacted to Saturday Night Live's April parody of The White Lotus via Instagram by calling the sketch 'amazzzingggg' whereas Wood found the spoof 'mean and unfunny' due to SNL cast member Sarah Sherman depicting her with fake teeth to resemble her gap. (Sherman later offered a mea culpa by sending Wood flowers and Wood insisted she never personally blamed the comedian.) Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood's Sweetest Friendship Moments: From 'The White Lotus' and Beyond Speculation about the pair reached a fever pitch earlier this month when Goggins walked out of an interview with the London Times due to repeated questions about his relationship with Wood. Goggins initially told the reporter he wasn't 'going to have that conversation' before ending the interview when Wood was brought up again. 'There's no conversation to be had about that. [It's like] sharing politics on social media — it's in a vacuum,' he insisted. However, the two White Lotus stars started following each other again on Instagram shortly after. Wood also offered her support for Goggins hosting SNL on May 10 while attending the Met Gala in New York City on May 5. '[Working with Walton] was the best thing ever,' Wood added. 'He's going to be incredible doing SNL. It's the perfect thing for him to do. It's going to be hilarious. I'm so excited to see it.' Fans hoping to see Wood reunite with Goggins on Saturday Night Live were likely disappointed since she didn't appear — though White Lotus cast member Sam Rockwell did cameo alongside Goggins on the NBC sketch show last weekend. As for Goggins' marriage, he was first wed to Leanne Kaun in 2001 but she tragically died in 2004. He married Conners in 2011 and they share a son, Augustus, born 2011. Walton Goggins Says He Would Call Pedro Pascal If He 'Needed an Intervention' Amid 'White Lotus' Fame In her new interview with Hello!, Conners spoke about writing and directing The Uninvited, a comedy-drama about a dinner party gone horribly wrong. Goggins starred in the movie as a drug-addicted Hollywood talent agent, but Conners insisted her marriage did not inspire the film. "Walton was reading through the script with me at home and I was like, 'Oh my God.' What he brings to the character, it was sharp, almost killer energy,' she said. 'I wrote it about a marriage, but not my marriage, which concerned him – he was like: 'But I'm not this guy.' It was really important for him to say that he was not this guy. I said: 'I know, but you're a great actor, so you can pretend.'' The Uninvited is now playing in theaters.
