Ghost Hits No. 1 For The First Time As The Band's New Album Dominates
Ghost's new album Skeleta debuts on seven U.K. charts, hitting No. 1 on three, including the Vinyl ... More Albums list, as the band opens atop that tally for the first time. Swedish heavy metal band Ghost dominates charts all around the world this week with its new album Skeleta , which has proved to be especially successful in the United Kingdom. The group has been steadily growing its fanbase in that country for years, and the full-length appears on seven different charts this frame, leading about half of them as it arrives.
While Ghost has previously reached the top spot on most of these rosters at least once, the rock outfit collects its first champion on one particular list with Skeleta . The set opens at No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, officially becoming the bestselling vinyl title in the country. It marks the first time that Ghost has reached the summit on this format-specific ranking, although the group has come close before.
Two prior efforts — Impera and Rite Here Rite Now , the official soundtrack from a film of the same name — both stalled in the runner-up rung. Earlier titles Prequelle and Phantomime lifted the band as high as No. 3.
Skeleta also debuts in first place on two other rosters this week in the U.K.: the Official Album Downloads list and the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. The group has now collected a pair of winners on the downloads-only tally, and Skeleta marks the Swedish rockers' fourth leader on the genre-specific ranking.
Impressively, Skeleta only misses out on hitting No. 1 on three other U.K. lists by a single space. The set opens at No. 2 on both the Official Albums chart — which ranks the most consumed projects in the country — and the Official Albums Sales roster, which focuses only on pure purchases of every kind.
Last week, Skeleta barely made a dent on the Official Physical Albums chart thanks to some very early sales from eager fans. In its second turn on the tally, it jumps to second place. Had all purchases been counted together from the start, it's possible the band would have soared all the way to the summit. Ghost's Skeleta Opens Inside the Top 40
Ghost only misses the top 10 on one of the seven U.K. rankings where Skeleta debuts. The project opens at No. 29 on the Official Albums Streaming chart. It's clear that fans of the metal outfit wanted to own the project and support the band in that tangible way, rather than streaming the latest from the superstars on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

PERU — Towne Meeting's benefit concert for the North Country Mission of Hope is set for 7 p.m. Sunday, at St. Augustine's Church located at 3035 N. Main St. in Peru. Towne Meeting is made up of Dennis Hulbert (vocals and guitar), Miles Moody (vocals and guitar), Anastasia Pratt (vocals and bass) and Gary VanCour (vocals, guitar, ukulele, and percussion). The band is known for its unique blend of folk, Americana and acoustic rock, organizers said. 'Towne Meeting's warmth and authenticity has built a loyal following over the years. Seven releases feature familiar covers as well as original works,' promotional materials stated. Sunday's concert marks the band's 12th year supporting the spiritually-based humanitarian organization, according to a press release. 'My husband and I have gone on missions since 2005,' Judy Charland, concert organizer, said. 'As you know, we are unable to travel to Nicaragua for now quite a few years. But the Mission is still going on. In fact, they have started to go to the Appalachia area and have been working in Kentucky. I have not gone on these last two missions here in the U.S., but I still am involved and have been helping to coordinate the summer concerts to benefit the Mission of Hope and their projects.' Dawn French apologises for 'clumsy tone' in Gaza clip
Dawn French has posted a public apology after posting a video about the war in Gaza, and removed the item from her social media. The 40-second video posted earlier this week showed the star of BBC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley share her views on the conflict, saying "Complicated, no, but nuanced. But bottom line is no." Switching into a high-pitched voice, she continued: "Yeah, but you know they did a bad thing to us, yeah but no. But we want that land... and we have history... No. Those people aren't really even people, are they really? No." Following a backlash with people complaining she was mocking the 7 October attack that ignited the war, French removed the video on Saturday and said she never meant to "mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror" of the event. "I hope you will understand my intention was not to offend, but I clearly have. For which I am sorry and I have removed the video." French said that she had posted a video in the style that she has been using for social media "in an effort to convey an important point", although she added that she had "clumsily used a mocking tone". "My intention was never to mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror of what happened on 7 October 2023 and what continues to unfold from that brutal unthinkable, unforgivable, savage attack." She said her intention had been "to point the finger of shame at the behaviour of the cruel leaders on all sides of this atrocious war".

Zawe Ashton expecting second child with fiancé Tom Hiddleston
Zawe Ashton is expecting her second child with fiancé Tom Hiddleston. The 40-year-old actress shared the news with Vogue on Saturday (07.06.25), alongside a maternity photoshoot in which she appears in a pale blue Emilia Wickstead gown with a matching cape. Zawe confirmed she would debut her baby bump later this weekend at the SXSW festival, saying of her red carpet look: 'I feel really lucky to be working with someone that I know and who's been such a champion of me at this sensitive red-carpet dressing moment. 'I feel like I'll be very held on an evening where, as an expectant mother, you can feel a little bit exposed.' Zawe and Tom, who have been engaged since 2022, welcomed their first child together later that same year. She and the 44-year-old have not publicly disclosed their child's name or gender. Zawe, who has been a long-time admirer of Wickstead's work, also told Vogue: 'We met years ago at the British Fashion Awards when she dressed me and we attended together. 'We had the most fabulous night and instantly felt like kindred spirits. We aligned so much on fashion and womanhood, and I've always loved her designs. They embody a seamless blend of classic and contemporary, and she's also just an incredible craftsperson. 'You feel the level of detail that goes into every piece when you wear them.' Emilia Wickstead, 42, who designed the maternity gown Ashton will wear at SXSW, described the commission as 'especially meaningful and full circle'. 'Zawe wore a soft pink gown from us during her last pregnancy — quietly glowing, with a little secret only she knew,' Wickstead said. She added: 'Now, to celebrate her second in this beautiful blue from our pre-fall collection, and to share it with the world, feels like a sweet continuation of that story. I'm so honoured to be part of it. 'Zawe is also such a vibrant, clever and special friend and muse of the brand — she's been wearing Emilia Wickstead for years, and I love being part of her journey.' A source told Us Weekly following the birth of Zawe and Tom's first child they 'are loving being new parents and are filled with joy'. They added the pair 'have been having the struggles of new parents and aren't sleeping much but are thrilled'. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in November 2023, Tom said fatherhood had changed his outlook on life. He added: 'I think I probably knew it would, but I could never have imagined how deeply it would until it happened,' he said. 'And yeah, it's before and after.'
