Maoist Posters Found In West Bengal's Bankura District Prompt Police Investigation
Police and district administration officials in West Bengal's Bankura district have been placed on high alert following the discovery of three suspected Maoist posters in Taldangra area on Sunday morning.
Local residents reported finding the handwritten posters—created with red ink on white paper—at three strategic locations: near Taldangra police station, outside the Trinamool Party office, and close to the residence of the Bankura Zilla Parishad chief. The posters carried identical messages calling for vengeance for the deaths of Maoist leaders Kishenji, Sunil Mahato, and Rimil, while also issuing direct threats to panchayat leaders with the ominous warning, "Now it is your turn."
The posters also expressed opposition to tribal displacement from water resources, land, and forest areas. Each poster was signed "CPI Maoist" at the bottom.
The appearance of these posters has particularly surprised residents of Taldangra, an area with no recent history of Maoist activity, despite the group's previous presence in Bankura district's extensive forest regions. Officers from Taldangra police station immediately removed the posters upon discovery.
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for creating and placing the posters. Some investigators suspect these may not be connected to actual Maoist organizations but could be attempting to create fear by using their imagery and rhetoric.

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: The last rites of top Maoist leader Gautam alias T Sudhakar, who was killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on June 5, were performed on Monday at his native village Satyavolu, 20 km from Eluru district. Acting on the appeal of his brother T Anandarao and sister-in-law, both State and Central authorities handed over Sudhakar's body to the family. Tearful farewell to slain Maoist leader
ADILABAD: The last rites of Maoist leader Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar, who was killed in an encounter in the Chhattisgarh, were held on in Pochera village in the district on Monday. After 35 years of armed struggle, Adellu fell to police gunfire. Thousands of people from various regions gathered to pay their last respects. Adellu, who took to the forests three and a half decades ago for the cause of oppressed communities and rose to prominence in the revolutionary movement, returned home lifeless, leaving villagers in deep sorrow. His family members were inconsolable. Members of the Maoist relatives' committee expressed their grief, saying they could not fathom the loss of the revolutionary leader. Thousands marched along the bier, holding red flags and chanting 'Mailarapu Adellu Amar Hai.' Demand to Halt Operation Kagar Boath MLA Anil Jadhav stated that Operation Kagar was being conducted under the guise of fake encounters to eliminate Bahujan revolutionaries. He paid his respects to Adellu's body and assured his family of his support. Representatives from revolutionary writers' associations, civil rights organizations, and the Maoist relatives' committee demanded an end to Operation Kagar and called for peace talks. During the final procession, Arunodaya artists sang revolutionary songs accompanied by drum beats. The three-hour-long funeral march saw around 3,000 attendees. Another IED recovered in Sukma where ASP Giripunje was killed: Police
An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from the same site in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, where Additional SP Akash Rao Giripunje was killed in a Maoist-triggered blast. He assured that the officer's sacrifice would not go in vain and added that the Maoists were taking their last breath and acting out of frustration. He condemned the incident and hoped that the bereaved family would find the strength to bear the loss. He also said the injured would be shifted to Raipur for the best possible medical treatment. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said the state government was concerned about properly treating those injured.
