Meghalaya honeymoon horror: Police to reconstruct crime scene with arrested wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, aides

A special investigation team of the Meghalaya Police brought in Shillong around midnight and arrested Sonam Raghuvanshi, one of the five accused in the murder of her Indore-based businessman husband Raja Raghuvanshi, and would reconstruct the crime scene in Sohra, a senior officer said on Wednesday (June 11, 2025). The four others, who were also arrested from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder, were also taken to Shillong during the day and would be produced before a local court, he said. Sonam was taken to a hospital in Shillong for a medical examination and will be produced before a court during the day, as the SIT will seek her police custody to complete the investigation, he said. 'The SIT that brought Sonam arrived here shortly before midnight. She was taken to a hospital here around 2 a.m. to ascertain whether she was pregnant or not. She had undergone three tests. Sonam will be produced before a court here,' a senior police officer told PTI. East Khasi Hills district S.P. Vivek Syiem confirmed that the results of the tests were negative. 'The four other accused persons — Raj Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kuli — have also been brought here on transit remand on Wednesday (June 11, 2025),' the officer said. The SIT will seek 'police custody of all the arrested persons, and will reconstruct the crime scene in Sohra', he said. The Meghalaya Police, which codenamed the investigation as 'Operation Honeymoon', collected evidence from the residences and other places frequented by the accused in Indore and Ghazipur, Syiem said. Sonam and her aides were arrested from Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh for their alleged role in conspiring and killing Raja Raghuvanshi last month. The SIT has secured a six-day remand for the accused persons from Indore and that of three days for one arrested from Ghazipur, he added. Raghuvanshi and his wife went missing while vacationing in Meghalaya's Sohra area on May 23, 2025. His body was found in a gorge on June 2, 2025.

'Black Magic, Sacrifice': Raja Raghuvanshi's Mother Makes Explosive Claims Against Sonam

Last Updated: Raja Raghuvanshi's mother has alleged Sonam Raghuvanshi may have used black magic and even performed a sacrifice. She suspects occult practices played a role in her son's death. In a chilling new development in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, his mother on Wednesday made sensational allegations against her daughter-in-law and the prime accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi. According to Raja Raghuvanshi's mother, Sonam may have performed black magic and a possible human sacrifice, along with astrological factors may have been at the centre of the murder conspiracy. Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, was arrested on charges of killing Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya. The Indore-based couple had got married on May 11 and had arrived in Meghalaya on May 20 for their honeymoon. Raja Raghuvanshi's mother has alleged that Sonam had performed 'tantrik kriyas' (black magic rituals) on Raja and even on other members of the family. 'Sonam had done something like a spell, a 'vashikaran', on all of us," she said. 'People used to talk about it, but we never believed them. Now we're seeing the truth with our own eyes," she added. She further claimed that the couple visited the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Assam's Guwahati, and ever since, Sonam asked Raja Raghuvanshi to wear a necklace, allegedly associated with black magic rituals. Kerala CM's daughter T. Veena denies allegations in CMRL case, terms PIL a bid to ‘vilify' her

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter T. Veena has refuted the allegation that Exalogic Solutions Private Limited, a company run by her, is a benami firm, saying that it is operated independently of her father. She made the statement in an affidavit filed before the Kerala High Court in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI probe into the allegations regarding the financial transactions between the Exalogic and the Kochi-based private minerals firm Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL). She pointed out that the company was founded and managed by her and at all times operated independently of her father. He had no role in the business of the company, financial or otherwise. In fact, she founded the company in 2014 whereas her father assumed office of Chief Minister in May 2016. Refutes Kovalam palace charges She also said that she had no role in any decision , communication or transaction relating to the Kovalam palace. The allegation that she had exercised undue influence in the transfer of the Kovalam palace and that she was a conduit for 'unjust enrichment' is baseless and without any material. The allegations are 'ex-facie malicious , defamatory, and disparaging' of a woman professional. It is nothing but political mudslinging disguised as a public litigation, she said. Ms. Veena also said that the allegation that her husband and Minister for Public Works P.A. Mohamed Riyas' disclosure of income in his income affidavit was inconsistent with the firm's revenue is misconceived and misleading. Personal income, company turnover, and tax disclosures are governed by different standards. Any alleged discrepancy can only be addressed by the competent authority under the law. Besides, her husband was not a shareholder, director or beneficiary of Exalogic. He had had no connection with its business or operations at any point of time, according to the affidavit. 'A disguised attempt ' She said the PIL is 'a disguised attempt to vilify' her because of her identity as daughter of the Chief Minister. According to her, the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs had ordered a probe by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) into certain affairs of CMRL, including the transactions with Exalogic under Section 212 (1)(c)of the Companies Act. As the SFIO is currently seized of the matter, all other agencies are precluded from probing it. The provisions of the Companies Act barred a parallel or overlapping investigation by any other agency into it. Besides, the very allegations forming the basis of the PIL were brought up before various Vigilance courts which had dismissed such complaints. Even the High Court had upheld the dismissals of such complaints and observed that the statements made by an authorised officer before the interim board for settlement – which was inadmissible under Section 4 of the Evidence Act and cannot be treated as judicial facts – cannot be the basis for setting criminal proceedings into motion, the affidavit pointed out.
