Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 confirmed to launch with AI-powered triple camera setup

In the spirit of drip-feeding information to hype up its next batch of foldable smartphones, Samsung today revealed the camera specs of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. Sort of. Well, it's not the exact spec meaning megapixels and all that stuff, but what this camera setup can do. Not that it's a big surprise or anything, but the Galaxy Z Fold 7's camera has AI built into it in some capacity, which will seemingly allow it to be more intelligent than its predecessor doesn't say it in so many words, but it uses AI jargon like multimodal understanding to highlight the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be able to 'get what you're looking at and respond to situations' through its cameras, hinting at the possibility of advanced visual search/intelligence, which we have seen recently on iPhones. Recent iPhones, in fact, even have a dedicated camera control button now which doubles as a quick shortcut key for visual intelligence. The idea is to basically put search directly into the camera (app) so users can simply point it at a thing and get more information about it on the fly. It isn't immediately clear if Samsung is also putting a dedicated button for it on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.'As AI evolves from text-based prompts to multimodal understanding, Galaxy devices are becoming smarter - able to get what you're looking at and respond to situations. The camera is at the heart of this transformation,' Samsung says, adding that 'More than just a tool for capturing images, coupled with enhanced AI-powered features, the Galaxy camera is now part of the intuitive interface that turns what users see into understanding and action.'What's confirmed is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a total of three cameras on the back, a similar count to the existing Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is widely reported that the primary camera would use an upgraded 200-megapixel sensor, quite possibly the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Edge. The other two cameras are expected to be a do-over from the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Elsewhere, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is its thinnest and most durable foldable phone, though it hasn't yet shared the technical details. Given that it has the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge in its portfolio now, expectations would obviously be sky-high about where things might go from here, especially given that Huawei and Honor have shown it is possible to make razor-thin foldables for the mass-market without compromising on specs. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is widely expected to launch in July alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
