NFL Network to air 21 preseason games
NFL Network will air 21 preseason games ahead of the 2025 season, beginning with an Aug. 7 doubleheader featuring the Indianapolis Colts vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
That game will be followed by Las Vegas Raiders coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith returning to Seattle to face their former team, the Seahawks.
The following day, NFL Network will air the Browns at the Carolina Panthers, expected to be the pro debuts of quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, both taken by Cleveland in the April draft.
Quarterbacks in new places will be the theme as the opening preseason weekend continues Saturday with a tripleheader. The New York Giants and their three new QBs -- veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart -- will take on the Buffalo Bills, followed by J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings against the Houston Texans. In the nightcap, the Justin Fields-led New York Jets will play the Green Bay Packers.

Sam Darnold had "up and down" day of practice at OTA's
The Seattle Seahawks are taking several major gambles for their 2025 squad, but none bigger than quarterback Sam Darnold. Seattle decided to go younger and cheaper at the game's most important position by moving on from Geno Smith and rolling with Darnold. How far they go this year will hinge largely on whether or not Darnold's explosive 2024 campaign with the Vikings was indicative of who he truly is as a signal caller, or if it was a one-hit-wonder. From the sounds of it at Seattle's fourth OTA practice, it was a bit of a mixed result. Darnold had plenty of quality throws, but a handful of mistakes to go along with them as well. Whether it was a trio or a couple, the fact Darnold threw interceptions in the red zone is more than a little concerning. Yes, it is early June. There is essentially a lifetime (or what feels like) between now and the regular season kick off against the San Francisco 49ers. But Geno Smith led the NFL in red zone interceptions last year with four, which ultimately proved disastrous - especially since two of them came during the 26-20 overtime loss to the Rams. Advertisement Like I said, there is more than enough time for things to get cleaned up for Darnold and this offense. Still, red zone interceptions are not what the 12th Man wants to hear at any point. This article originally appeared on Seahawks Wire: Sam Darnold had "up and down" day of practice at OTA's

Raiders Insider Leaves Door Open for Veteran CB Addition
Raiders Insider Leaves Door Open for Veteran CB Addition originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders welcomed a new regime of Pete Carroll and John Spytek this offseason. This tandem made several changes to last year's four-win roster, but perhaps no position group was overhauled as much as the secondary. Advertisement Not only did the Raiders part ways with cornerback Nate Hobbs and safeties Tre'Von Moehrig and Marcus Epps during free agency, but the team waived cornerback Jack Jones as well. While Las Vegas did sign Eric Stokes on the open market and use a third-round pick on Darien Porter during the 2025 NFL Draft, this is still a largely unproven group heading into the season. Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jakorian Bennett (0).Reggie Hildred-Imagn Images 2023 fourth-round pick Jakorian Bennett showed signs of being a true No. 1 corner last season, but he is still staving off an injury this summer. 2024 fourth-round pick Decamerion Richardson was shaky during his rookie campaign as well. Advertisement The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Vincent Bonsignore recently answered questions about the state of the team's cornerback group. He pointed out that the Raiders may still look to add to this room before the season. "Don't rule out the Raiders adding to this (cornerback) group, either," Bonsignore wrote. "Cornerback seems like the most likely spot the Raiders would add at." Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been the most commonly floated name for the Raiders this offseason, but it would take a draft pick to pry him from Miami. His contract situation is also less than desirable over the next few years and it is unlikely the team wants to spend so much money on an aging player. Former Charger Asante Samuel Jr. has also been a candidate for the Raiders to sign, but his physical characteristics do not align with what Pete Carroll typically wants for his outside cornerbacks. Perhaps the team would add him in hopes of transitioning him into the slot. Advertisement 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore is still a free agent, as are notable veterans James Bradberry and Mike Hilton. Look for any of these players to be in the cards for the Raiders if injuries or underperformance plague the team through training camp. NFL Network analyst predicts a better 2025 season for the Kansas City Chiefs
NFL Network analyst predicts a better 2025 season for the Kansas City Chiefs The result of Super Bowl LIX continues to be discussed regarding the future of the Kansas City Chiefs. Analysts and football commentators have been discussing the franchise's win expectancy going into 2025 without placing too much weight on the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. "That was an all-time Eagles team, and I don't take anything away from the Chiefs," said Kyle Brandt on a recent episode of NFL Network's Good Morning Football. The Chiefs won a franchise record 15 games in 2024 and went undefeated at home during the regular season and playoffs. "I look at the Chiefs last year. I think it was the weakest team of the (Patrick) Mahomes era and the most vulnerable team, and they won 15 games and had a bye," said Brandt. "We've seen it was like that was the year to get them, that was the year to take them out. Next year, I think they'll be better than they were this year." The Chiefs' 2025 travel schedule will be busy, with their opening game in Brazil and the most primetime matchups in the league.
