Harvey Weinstein has spoken out about allegations that he sexually harassed Gwyneth Paltrow and insisted that while he made a pass at her, he didn't touch her
Harvey Weinstein has denied ever sexually harassing Gwyneth Paltrow – but admits "making a pass" at the actress. The actress had previously accused the disgraced movie mogul of sexually harassing her when she was just 22.
The disgraced Hollywood executive, 73, has now addressed the allegations from behind prison bars. Weinstein is currently serving a 23 year prison sentence after being convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020. He's currently being held at Rikers Island jail.
Now, he has spoken out in an unprecedented interview and acknowledged the allegations made against him by both Gwyneth and Rose McGowan – who has accused him of oral rape.
"I did not commit these crimes," Weinstein said. In a trailer for an interview with US broadcaster, Candace Owens, he went on to add: "I swear that before God and the people watching now and on my family."
He discussed several of his alleged victims, including Gwyneth, Rose and actress Ashley Judd. Addressing the claims around Gwyneth, he said: "I definitely made a pass," before claiming that the allegations had been fabricated. He said: "It's a complete fabrication about my relationship with Gwyneth. I didn't put my hands on her. I didn't touch her."
Gwyneth claims that she was sexually harassed by Weinstein in his hotel room after being cast in his 1996 movie, Emma. She said: "It was weird. I was alone in a room with him. It was out of the blue. I was blindsided. I was shocked." Gwyneth claims Weinstein appeared in a bathrobe before asking if he could give her a massage, or if she could watch him shower.
Meanwhile, Ross claimed that after being cast in Scream in 1997, she was orally raped by Weinstein. Speaking about the allegations, Weinstein told Owens: "I settled with Rose McGowan. I gave her $100,000, don't tell my wife, don't get me into trouble. It's all conflated, and it's all led to the idea that I'm going to be the one they persecute."
During the interview, Harvey wiped away tears after saying the allegations made against him had "broken" him. "They broke me, they broke me in half," he said. He explained that he'd asked for a lie detector to be brought into prison in an attempt to clear his name.
"I know they're not admissible, but I want the world to know," he said. Sixty women have since come forward and made allegations against him. He was convicted of various sexual offences in both New York and California.
He is currently on trial again after an appeals court decided that his New York trial had been tainted by prejudicial testimony and his conviction was overturned. He pleaded not guilty to all allegations and has insisted he had never raped or sexually assaulted anyody.
"The casting couch is not a crime scene," defence lawyer Arthur Aidala told the mainly female jury.

Weinstein's attorneys argued that all three accusers consented to Weinstein's advances because they wanted help with their Hollywood aims. All three stayed on friendly terms with him afterwards, a point the defence emphasised. 'It's transactional, folks. Yes, he wants to fool around with them, and yes, they want something from him,' defence lawyer Arthur Aidala said in his summation on Tuesday.
