Sunday Brings Scattered Showers with T-Storms Possible
Looks like an unsettled Sunday.
We got through with a relatively calm Saturday. Temperatures topped out in the mid-to-upper 80s (86° at BWI- Marshall @ 3:51pm).Spotty showers across the state stayed light, so hopefully your outdoor plans were only briefly impacted.
A few thunderstorms could develop tonight as an upper level disturbance moves in. We'll have a period of dry and calmer conditions before the unsettled weekend continues.
Sunday brings its own rain and storm chance, too.
Scattered showers and storms are expected through much of the day. A few showers are possible in your neighborhood to start the day. Around midday, the First Alert Weather team will be monitoring the potential for stronger storms and/or heavier rain to move into Maryland. Sunday afternoon brings a risk for severe weather back to the state.
The Storm Prediction Center has us in a level 1 and 2 (out of 5) risk for severe weather on Sunday. The higher chance for those stronger storms will be in Central and Southern Maryland and for our Lower Eastern Shore neighborhoods. Storms may produce damaging winds, small hail and we also cannot rule out some rotation. We may also see some heavier pockets of rain as storms move through.
Rain may remain to start Monday before a brief drying out and another risk for showers and storms on Tuesday.
The middle and late parts of the upcoming week look much quieter (and drier!). Temperatures also appear to rise back closer to 90° as we approach the middle of the month.

Storms cause significant damage in Mulga
MULGA, Ala. (WIAT) — Strong storms swept through central Alabama Saturday afternoon, taking down trees and leaving thousands without power. A thunderstorm came through the town of Mulga around 2:30 p.m. It took down dozens of trees, blocking roads, tearing down power lines and even a part of Roger Parkin's house. '15 seconds, the tree across the road fell in the front yard, and this one here about five seconds after it did,' said Parkin. 'I was under the carport and my wife came out to see if I was okay and that's when the tree came down right onto the room she was sitting in,' he added. Saban Center to break ground in July Parkin's home had the most significant damage CBS 42 saw in Mulga, but it wasn't the only home affected. Just down the road, Danielle Ward had a tree fall on both her cars, landing just feet from where she and her newborn were sitting. 'I was just sitting on the couch with my baby and my husband was playing video games, and I was about to get ready to go to work. And it started storming, and he was like, look outside, and I was like, oh my gosh, and my plants started falling, and he was going to go outside to get them, and then it just fell onto both of my vehicles,' commented Ward. Water Safety Tips as Local Lake Levels Rise
Belton, TX (FOX 44)– Recent rain has greatly contributed to our local lake levels–with Lake Waco and Lake Whitney at 100 percent capacity and Lake Belton around 96% full. Alex Klaypac is a park ranger at Stillhouse Lake. He says to be mindful of obstructions hidden beneath the surface and shares some water safety tips. 'We just want everybody to be as safe as possible when they're on the water and in our parks,' he says. As you pack your car full of your lake necessities, don't forget one very important item–A life jacket, even for the strongest of swimmers. 'Wear a lifejacket when you're on the boat, when you're swimming, and even on the shoreline. Just be safe,' Klaypac says. Finally, make sure you stay hydrated. Urban League hosts its third large-scale St. Louis tornado relief event
ST. LOUIS – Now three weeks after a devastating tornado swept across St. Louis, the Urban League continues to step up to help others in need. On Saturday, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis held its third of four planned large-scale distribution events, handing out relief supplies to families affected by the May 16 tornado. They provided thousands of packages of food, toiletries, and other essential items. The Urban League headquarters will continue to accept donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They need food items and general supplies, along with infant and hygiene products.
