Military intelligence show to be housed in London Blitz tunnels
The history of military intelligence will be explored as part of a planned tourist attraction in London's World War Two air raid shelter tunnels.As part of its plans to bring the Kingsway Exchange Tunnels to the public, London Tunnels will collaborate with the Museum of Military Intelligence to showcase original artefacts, equipment, weapons and documents.About 8,000 sq m of tunnels under High Holborn were built in 1942 to provide protection during the Blitz. They were later used as a home for a British spy organisation.Angus Murray, CEO, The London Tunnels, said the site was an ideal backdrop to tell the remarkable stories of men and women who played a "vital role in protecting Britain".
The tunnels, which featured in the first James Bond novel, have remained unused since they were decommissioned in 1990.
The exhibition will feature stories from the Battle of Britain and D-Day, the espionage operations of the Cold War, the Falklands War, peace-keeping missions and the terrorist threat of the 21st Century. General Sir Jim Hockenhull KBE ADC Gen, Commander of Strategic Command and Colonel Commandant of the Intelligence Corps, said it would be "the world's most authoritative permanent exhibition of military intelligence".The trustees of the Museum of Military Intelligence said the "historically significant and evocative location" would bring the exhibition to life.The Museum of Military Intelligence was founded by the British Army's Intelligence Corps and is now also supported by the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

'There's lots of chat at the moment about #SkinnyTok,' Jenny Stevens, the Guardian's deputy features editor, tells Helen Pidd. 'The TikTok influencers, TikTok users, who are documenting their extreme weight-loss journeys. 'I've looked through that hashtag and I think, wow, some of these people are really, really unwell. And I think that there is a profit-seeking algorithm that is pushing that content into the feeds of young users.' Stevens explains why she is worried about the rise in weight-loss drugs, as someone who suffered from an eating disorder. 'I worry about them. And the wider media context, and their absolute fixation on who's taking them, who isn't, who's lost the weight, how they've lost the weight. Look at their bones jutting out … I worry about the effects of it on vulnerable people who are already suffering with disordered eating.' Also, we ask what a renewed fixation on thinness means for plus-size women? Gina Tonic, the author of Greedy Guts: Notes From an Insatiable Woman, talks about the origins of the body positivity movement and why it feels less visible than it did. 'I think Covid put health into the forefront of society's point of view as something that we really needed to prioritise for ourselves and also for our communities. And obviously, the first people to suffer under that kind of logic is people who are disabled, but also people who are seen as unhealthy, I guess, or willingly unhealthy. 'And fatness is automatically associated with being unhealthy and has been for decades. So it just feels like a natural follow-on with a public obsession with health, and the perception that thinness is health, thinness becomes the priority again for so many people,' says Tonic. One iconic Hollywood actor has been tipped to play Voldemort in the upcoming HBO remake of JK Rowling 's Harry Potter. Film-lovers were sent into a frenzy earlier this week as the trio of child actors set to appear as Harry, Ron and Hermione were at last revealed after months of waiting. Directors of the much-anticipated series trawled through more than 32,000 audition tapes before deciding on the lucky three - Dominic Laughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The announcement came after other members of the cast were revealed months earlier, with Paapa Essiedu in-line to play Severus Snape and John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Now, with the cast edging closer to completion, Potter lovers are waiting patiently to find out who will play the remaining characters - including Voldemort, the franchise's dark wizard. Film-lovers' hopes of seeing Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint back at Hogwarts were all but crushed after the trio spoke out against the author over her views on trans rights in 2020. Rowling had stated her belief that women are defined by their biological sex and not their gender identity. The author later insisted she would never forgive the Harry Potter stars, with Rowling again taking aim at them just last month. Replying to a tweet asking: 'What actor/ actress instantly ruins a movie for you?', she wrote: 'Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible.' But while cast members of the films have publicly criticised the books' author, HBO have backed JK saying she has a 'right to express her personal views'. Earlier this week, the multi-millionaire author took to X to express her delight at the casting of her new Harry Potter (Dominic Laughlin), Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton) and Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout). Responding to a fan on X asking how she felt about the appointments, she penned: 'All three wonderful. I couldn't be happier.' The three new leads are expected to start filming this summer after being chosen from more than 32,000 audition tapes from across the UK and Ireland. The new adaptation will be spread across seven seasons, equal to the number of books - although there were eight films with the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows split into two parts. Renewed or Cancelled? Dept. Q is the latest crime drama on Netflix, created by Scott Frank, the brilliant mind behind The Queen's Gambit. With great characters and plotting, this one is not to be missed. Having watched the first season in its entirety, you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! What is Dept. Q about? Dept. Q is set in Edinburgh, follows Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, a brilliant but emotionally scarred officer recovering from a traumatic ambush that left his partner paralyzed and another officer dead. Relegated to a newly formed cold case unit in the police department's basement, Morck assembles a team of misfits to take on an old case involving the mysterious disappearance of prosecutor Merritt Lingard from a ferry four years prior. As the team delves deeper, they uncover a chilling conspiracy and psychological trauma that test their limits. We have extended coverage of Dept. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show's future is made. So far, Dept. Q has had a very good reaction online from critics and audiences alike. Given the way this show is set up, and the ending we receive, we're predicting that this will be renewed for a second season. The series has lots of potential, and it's also adapted from Jussi Adler-Olsen's Danish novels too so there's plenty of sourxe material to adapt. There's also lots of loose ends still to be tied up and plenty of potential for further cold cases to be brought up. We also know completion rate is a massive metric for these streamers and this feels like one of those shows that people will dive into and become hooked once they've watched a few episodes. However, we could be completely wrong too, so take our prediction with a pinch of salt! What we know about season 2 so far: Barely anything is known about Dept. Q season 2 at this point given Netflix haven't officially renewed or cancelled this one. Given the first season's conclusion, it does seem very likely to get the nod for another season. We'd likely get another 9 episode season if this one is renewed, along with a return of familiar cast and crew too. The story's tone and style will likely remain very similar to what we've been graced with in season 1, and a return of cast and crew along with Carl's quest for who the shooters were at Leith Park too.
