Mitchelle Blair was sentenced to life in prison without parole after she admitted torturing and killing two of her children in a shocking case that has re-emerged
It has been nearly a decade since Mitchelle Blair, a mother of four, was handed a life sentence for the horrific torture and murder of two of her children in separate incidents. She concealed their bodies in the deep freezer of her flat and continued with her daily life as if nothing had happened.
In a chilling courtroom confession, she admitted to her heinous acts, stating: "I don't feel no remorse for the death of them demons." The young victims were 13-year-old Stoni Blair and her nine-year-old brother, Stephen Berry.

Dubbed the 'House of Horrors', Blair lived in Detroit, Michigan, with her family. But it became the centre of a gruesome discovery when she was evicted for unpaid rent on March 24, 2015. Eviction officers found Stoni and Stephen's bodies inside a white freezer in the living room, where they had been left for an extended period.

Blair took full responsibility, claiming she acted out of retribution for what she believed was sexual abuse by the deceased children towards her youngest son, although these allegations were never substantiated. Despite not having witnessed any abuse and neglecting to alert the authorities, Blair decided to deal with the situation herself.
Little Stephen was subjected to horrendous abuse by his mother. In August 2012, she scalded his genitals with hot water while he was in the shower.
She also punched, kicked, and strangled him with a belt after forcing him to consume Windex. At one point, a bag was put over his head until he became unconscious.
Stephen's torture continued for a fortnight until he tragically passed away.
Nearly nine months late, Stoni too met a grim fate after supposedly voicing her dislike for her siblings. Her mother ended her young life by strangling her with "a black T-shirt and suffocating her with a plastic bag".

Stephen succumbed to multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma, while Stoni died from a blow to the head. In a chilling aftermath, Blair coerced her other daughter, who was 17 at the time, to place Stoni's body in a freezer beside her brother Stephen's remains.
Before these horrific killings, Blair had allegedly subjected her children to severe beatings and burns with an iron in their home.
Shortly before she was arrested for the murder of her children, Blair defiantly proclaimed on Facebook: "There is no greater blessing than being called Mom."

When in court, Blair, deemed mentally fit for trial, admitted to her crimes saying: "I don't regret none of this."
She expressed that it was her intention to take Stoni's life in 2013; however, she claimed there was no premeditation regarding Stephen's death in 2012.

Blair is also the mother to two other children, a son and a daughter. Her surviving son disclosed to a social worker that he had been whipped with a cord and his sister assaulted with a hammer.
Blair received a life sentence with no possibility of parole in July 2015 for the murders of Stoni and Stephen. She admitted to two counts of felony murder, two counts of premeditated murder, and one count of torture. Judge Dana Hathaway described her home as a "house of horrors" during sentencing, adding: "I do pray that your remaining children will recover from what they saw and endured in that household.
"They lived in terrible fear of you. And I find that just so sad in this case. After all is said and done, you imposed the death penalty on your own children."
Blair is reportedly her sentence at the Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti, where she was reportedly involved in multiple incidents, including throwing urine and faeces at a corrections officer using a Pringles can and physically assaulting another officer.

More info Stephen West, the son of infamous serial killer Rose West, is set to wed his fiancée Emma Bradley this August at the Celtic Manor hotel in Newport. The couple, who recently welcomed their new daughter Eden, have been forging a relationship since Stephen cut ties with his mother, Rose West, who is serving a life sentence and will not meet her granddaughter. Stephen's father, Fred West, was a serial killer responsible for at least 12 murders over two decades, often with the help of Rose, before his death in prison in 1995. Stephen, who grew up in the notorious 'house of horrors' in Gloucester, has previously admitted a chilling similarity to his father, stating: "There's a bit of my dad in me." After nearly three decades behind bars, Rose reportedly abandoned her appeal against her conviction in 2001 and appears resigned to dying in prison. Emma, now a qualified nurse at Gloucester Royal Hospital, has two daughters from a previous relationship. Following news of Rose's deteriorating health and her transfer to a disability-adapted cell in prison "because she can barely walk", Emma revealed that both she and her partner were oblivious to the situation as they had severed ties. (Image: PA) She did, however, acknowledge that she and Stephen, who live together in Abbeymead, Gloucester, watched the recent Netflix series, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story. Emma said her fiancé "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She added: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, 51, now a grandfather, has been previously married twice and has a total of eight children. A source recently shed light on Rose's daily life in prison. Speaking to The Sun, they said: "She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own. (Image: "No-one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She enjoys watching nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, particularly those about birds." In an attempt to dissociate from her heinous past, West reportedly spent £36 to legally alter her identity to Jennifer Jones. It's believed she executed the name change by deed poll in December, 2024, confiding to acquaintances that it signified her journey forward. Yet, in HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, her true identity remains common knowledge. She is claimed to frequently eat tomato soup by herself in her cell for breakfast. She then spends the bulk of her day within her cell, knitting and watching television due to her limited mobility. West is currently detained in a specialised section of New Hall called Rivendell House, where 30 inmates are each provided with an en-suite cell and a laptop. This laptop can be used to order food, and the shared spaces are reportedly "more inviting" than other areas of the prison, as noted in inspection reports.
