Scotland vs Ireland referee: Who is Six Nations official James Doleman?
James Doleman is the referee for Scotland v s Ireland in the 2025 Six Nations.
The New Zealander made his tournament debut during the 2022 championship, and has been given the whistle for a significant round two fixture as Scotland attempt to end their losing run against their visitors and emerge as genuine title cointenders.
Born in Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty, Doleman took up officiating while still a student in Dunedin.
He took charge of the final of the 2019 World Rugby U20 Championship before becoming a professional referee a year later, overseeing a number of Super Rugby fixtures in 2020.
A step-up to international level followed in 2021. It was at Twickenham two years ago that he oversaw a first Six Nations encounter, refereeing England's win over Italy, while he operated as an assistant during the World Cup in France in the autumn of 2023.
Doleman is joined on the officiating team by fellow Kiwi Ben O'Keeffe and France's Pierre Brousset, who will perform duties on the touchline at Murrayfield.

The former Cliftonville striker is expected to leave the Staggies after just one year following their relegation to the Championship. Hale scored two goals against Livingston in the Premiership play-off but he couldn't prevent his side from the drop and has likely played his last game for the club. It's said Aberdeen will face a battle to sign him as Dundee are also interested, along with a host of English clubs. EFL League One sides Wigan Athletic, Luton Town and Port Vale have all been reportedly keeping tabs on him as well. Aberdeen's Scottish Cup-winning heroes greeted by thousands on open top bus parade through the city after beating Celtic Hale scored 18 goals in all competitions for Ross County during the 2024/25 campaign. He could make his international bow for Michael O'Neil's side in the coming days after switching allegiances from the Republic of Ireland this year. The Staggies will command a healthy fee for the 26-year-old after he penned a three-year deal when he arrived at Dingwall last year. A dream come true – Euro 2022 winner Fran Kirby retires from England duty
England midfielder Fran Kirby has announced her retirement from international football. The 31-year-old retires on the eve of the Lionesses' upcoming European Championship campaign – which begins in July – and finishes her career with 77 caps and 19 goals. Kirby made her senior debut in August 2014 against Sweden and went on to represent England at four major tournaments, as well as featuring for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics. She claimed bronze at the 2015 World Cup and started in all of England's games at Euro 2022, scoring two goals along the way as the Lionesses lifted their first major trophy on home soil with victory over Germany in the final at Wembley. Her last outing for England came from the bench during their 6-0 win over Portgual on Friday and she announced her decision following the team's 2-1 defeat by Spain on Tuesday. 'After being in the England team since I was 21, it's time to close that chapter of my life,' Kirby wrote on social media. 'I didn't ever want this day to come, but I cannot tell you how proud I am it happened. It's been the biggest honour to represent my country, one that I had only dreamt about as a young girl. 'I've played with incredible players, worked with some incredible managers, played in some amazing tournaments and have some irreplaceable memories. 'My journey has been full of ups and downs, setbacks and achievements.
