Elon Musk turns on Donald Trump in scathing tirade against 'big beautiful bill'
Donald Trump's administration is pushing a piece of legislation in the United States which will be central to its agenda and will mean tax breaks as well as spending cuts
Elon Musk has continued his bitter attack on Donald Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' of tax breaks and spending cuts saying no one 'should be able to stomach it'.
In a rallying call to his followers on X he urged them to contact Congress members to 'kill the bill'. It came after Tuesday's attack where he called the bill a 'disgusting abomination' and his latest broadsides are set to further test his relationship with the president. The bill, at the centrepiece of Republicans' legislative agenda, has passed the House and is currently under debate in the Senate, would curtail subsidies that benefit Tesla, Musk's electric automaker.
Musk's attack on the Trump administration follows Trump giving him a celebratory Oval Office farewell that marked the end of his work for the administration, where he spearheaded the Department of Government Efficiency.
But today he wrote or reposted comments criticizing the bill more than 25 times. In one post he stated: 'Call your Senator. Call your Congressman. Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL.'
And in another post he shared an iconic poster for the 2003 film Kill Bill starring Uma Thurman, who was a samurai-trained killer. Other messages saw him say: "Mammoth spending bills are bankrupting America! ENOUGH,' and that no one 'should be able to stomach it'.
Musk has also called for a new piece of legislation to be drawn up. 'A new spending bill should be drafted that doesn't massively grow the deficit and increase the debt ceiling by 5 TRILLION DOLLARS,' he wrote.
But Speaker Mike Johnson said that Musk was 'flat wrong' about his criticisms of the bill and its effect on the financial deficit in the US, while saying there isn't time for a new bill.
He told reporters: 'I want Elon and all my friends to recognize the complexity of what we've accomplished here, this extraordinary piece of legislation, record number of savings, the record tax cuts for the American people, and all the other benefits in it."
Today's tirade against the bill came after Musk expressed equally strong views in posts yesterday. "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," Musk posted on X. "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
The tech billionaire followed his criticism with a threat aimed at Republicans. "In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people," he wrote in another X post. It's a sharp shift for Musk, the world's richest person who spent at least $250 million supporting Trump's campaign last year.

How much money Elon Musk lost because of feud with Donald Trump
The controversial former-head of DOGE Elon Musk has reportedly lost more than $34billion from his personal net worth after his fall from grace at the White House and very online break up with the US President. Shares in Musk's Tesla also dropped more than 14 per cent at the end of yesterday, losing about $150billion in market value - the largest single-day decline in the company's history. It is the second largest loss of personal net worth, beaten only by Musk's own wipe out again in November 2021, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of the 500 wealthiest people on the planet. He remains the richest man in the world, with a huge $334.5 billion fortune. Musk, who officially left the White House last week, reached a peak of nearly $500 billion in the months after Trump's election success. The valuation of his companies had surged thanks to the belief they would profit from his close relationship with Trump and his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, it was reported. But his government contracts with the US were on the line last night as he continued to take part in a savage war with words against Donald Trump, with their partnership breaking down over a tax-cut and spending bill. 'The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts," Trump posted on Truth Social. The withdrawal would have potentially huge consequences for his Tesla and SpaceX revenue. SpaceX has been awarded over $17 billion in government contracts since 2015, according to ABC news. Much of that money comes from NASA and the Department of Defence. One of Trump's oldest advisors, Steve Bannon, went further and suggested the government seize SpaceX under the Defense Production Act - a move that would undoubtedly trigger challenges. Musk, who had threatened to decommission the SpaceX Dragon capsule - a critical lifeline for transporting American astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station - ultimately retreated. After a user on X suggested he 'cool off and take a step back for a couple of days', Musk abruptly posted: 'Good advice. Ok, we won't decommission Dragon.' It was not before he claimed that Trump is 'in the Epstein files', suggested that he should be impeached and replaced with 40-year-old Vice President J.D. Vance. Moments before the Epstein charge, Trump had taken to Truth Social and said he had asked Musk to leave his administration and said the billionaire went 'CRAZY!' With that, Musk announced that it was 'time to drop a really big bomb.' This 2014 image shows Elon Musk (right) alongside Ghislaine Maxwell (left) who facilitated Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring. She's currently serving time in federal prison '@RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,' Musk wrote. 'Have a nice day, DJT!' Jeffrey Epstein is a serial child sex offender who died in prison in 2019. Trump pledged to release the files related to Epstein, with Attorney General Pam Bondi releasing some pages in February, but most of that information was already in the public domain. 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,' Musk added. Asked for comment, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Daily Mail in a statement: 'This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted.' The brawl started when the X-owner had originally campaigned to stop the 'disgusting abomination' of the x bill which he believed would contribute too much to the country's $36.2 trillion debt. Trump's big, beautiful bill' called for getting rid off electric vehicle tax credits - the cause of Musk's frustration, according to Trump. Analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. estimated that the bill would cut about $1.2 billion from Tesla's full-year profit. Despite staying quiet at first, Trump then told reporters he was 'very disappointed' in Musk and they 'had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore'. Musk immediately responded via tweet, saying: 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election'. He had spent nearly $300 million backing Trump's campaign among other other Republicans in last year's election. However, the drastic drop in net worth might not reveal the true impact on Musk who increasingly relies on his private enterprises as a source, it was reported in Bloomberg.

Patrick Loxdale: Everyone can play a footnote in history
When President Kennedy said 'We choose to go to the Moon…and do the other things, not because they are easy but because they are hard' he drove American aspiration. He also openly challenged school children to prepare themselves to become tomorrow's leaders. Despite being on the left of US politics, he realised the importance of individuals grasping opportunity and working hard to be their best; to make their lives and their families and their country better. He understood the balance between individual responsibility and the role of the state.

White House arranges ‘peace talks' call after Trump and Elon's feud went nuclear with Epstein barb & impeachment threat
DONALD Trump and Elon Musk's bitter public feud is set for another twist today with the pair reportedly sitting down for peace talks. The White House is believed to have been scrambling to arrange a phone call between the most powerful man in America and the world's richest person. 10 The White House has reportedly managed to arrange a phone call between Donald Trump and Elon Musk later today to solve their bitter feud Credit: AP 10 Musk spent hours posting dozens of remarks towards Trump, his presidency and the 'Big Beautiful Bill' on Thursday Credit: Reuters 10 The Tesla boss made unfounded allegations about Trump's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday Credit: X 10 Trump fired back with a trio of Truth Social posts Credit: Truth Social 10 Those in Washington have been trying to end the nuclear feud before it turns any worse after hours of outlandish Jefferey Epstein claims and brutal impeachment barbs. White House aides have now managed to schedule a call today with the billionaire CEO and Trump to try and broker peace, according to Politico. The two powerful men had been close allies for the best part of a year since Musk sided with Trump during the 2024 US presidential election. They were almost inseparable for months after Trump's seismic victory at the polls in November. But their impending break up came over the weekend when Musk stepped away from his governmental duties with the Department of Government Efficiency. Trump gave his friend a touching send off in a final Oval Office interview which was overshadowed by Musk's peculiar black eye. But ever since, their relationship has taken a steep and sour turn. The Tesla chief has been highly critical of the president's "Big Beautiful Bill" on several occasions online. He even labelled it a "massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill". Trump soon responded and sparked a very public fallout between the pair which came to blows on Thursday. Elon Musk's craziest moments, as Tesla CEO leaves White House after 130 days of drama: from chainsaw to double hats and billionaire has ALREADY turned on Trump The worst of the lot came from Musk who called for the president's impeachment and made unfounded allegations about Trump's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Musk claimed that Trump is withholding the infamous Epstein files due to his name appearing in them. Despite the remark there is no evidence that Trump had any involvement in convicted sex offender Epstein's crimes. Trump hit back on Truth Social saying Elon was "wearing thin" and that the president had to ask him to leave the White House. He went on to say that the US government could end all federal contracts with Musk's companies if the insults continued to fly. Trump described the possible move as a money saving measure. Musk even said the 2024 US election, which Trump won by a landslide, was thanks to his support. The debate quickly dragged in other pivotal US figures with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying Musk was having an "unfortunate episode". 10 Musk also claimed to be the reason why Trump won the 2024 election Credit: X 10 Rumours of a potential feud have been around for months after cracks started to show in the pair's relationship Credit: AFP 10 The bitter feud started when Musk publicly criticised the 'Big Beautiful Bill' put forward by Trump Credit: X The SpaceX boss spent hours on his X platform addressing the heated situation overnight. Despite going on the commenting spree targeting the governmental bill and Trump's presidency, Musk did appear to be open to a reconciling. American billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman sent out a message urging both men to make up for the good of the US. He personally tweeted at Musk and Trump saying: "We are much stronger together than apart." Musk replied to the message by saying: "You're not wrong." Trump is yet to publicly speak on if he believes there is a way back for the pair. But he did tell Politico in a phone call that everything is "going very well, never done better'. How did Musk and Trump's relationship capitulate? ELON Musk and Donald Trump spent Thursday trading barbs over social media. The Tesla owner called for Trump's impeachment as the president hit back and said the government could end all federal contracts with Musk's companies. Here's how it went down: On Tuesday, Musk tweeted that Trump's signature spending "big beautiful" spending bill was a "disgusting abomination" that would add billions to the federal deficit On Thursday in the Oval Office, Trump addressed Musk's criticism of the bill by accusing Musk of trying to kill it because the bill ends federal subsidies for electric vehicles, which would cost Musk's company Tesla significant profits Musk responded by live-posting on X as Trump spoke, initially shrugging off the president's assessment with an unbothered "Whatever," before tearing into the bill's other spending provisions Trump escalated the feud after the Oval Office meeting with multiple posts on Truth Social, saying he told Musk to leave the White House instead of continuing to work with Doge and threatening to dump Musk's federal contracts, which are worth billions Musk fired back on X by saying he was "decommissioning" the Dragon spacecraft made by SpaceX that brought the stranded Nasa astronauts back from the International Space Station in March Musk also escalated the war of words by reposting and replying "Yes" to a tweet claiming that Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President JD Vance Musk further fanned the flames by claiming that Trump is named in the infamous "Epstein files" and making unfounded accusations that its the reason they haven't been released to the public. He added that despite Musk's popularity with voters, the president's favorability ratings have continued to go "through the roof". Trump is currently embroiled in several emergency peace talks across the globe. He has been urgently looking to end the war in Ukraine since entering office in January by keeping both Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin on side. The president also held a crunch phone call with China's Xi Jinping on Thursday. Trump described it as a "very good" conversation and said he has been invited to Beijing in the coming months. It comes amid weeks of escalating trade tensions after Trump announced especially bruising tariffs on China. How Elon made his billions... ONLY a few individuals in the world stand a chance at becoming the world's first trillionaire - and Elon Musk is near the top of that list. Since the start of his career, Musk has been able to amass an extensive fortune and kept a hold of the "world's richest man" moniker for years. His career in the business world dates back to 1995, when he and his brother, Kimbal Musk, started the software firm, Zip2, which created internet city guides for the New York Times and Chicago Tribune. Four years later, in February 1999, Compaq acquired the company for $307 million in cash, giving Musk $22 million for his seven percent share from the sale. Later in 1999, he then co-founded one of the world's first online banks, which merged with PayPal the following year. A notorious workaholic, he doesn't spend his money on lavish vacations or expensive hobbies. Instead, the entrepreneur spends most of his free time at the office or in factories. Nowadays, most of his wealth continues to tick over thanks to his multiple business ventures including founding giant companies like Tesla and SpaceX. Musk's worth also comes from the stock market, which he has helped influence greatly over the years. At the beginning of 2021, Musk made the price of Bitcoin break all-time records after he revealed Tesla invested $1.5billion in the cryptocurrency. In 2022, Musk hit headlines once more when he made an audacious paid for Twitter and turned it into X. 10 Trump gave Musk a touching send off over the weekend when he left the White House and stepped away from DOGE Credit: Reuters
