Hearts have officially announced the appointment of Derek McInnes as their new manager, securing him on a four-year contract.
The Edinburgh-based club had been on the hunt for a new leader following the dismissal of former Liverpool coach Neil Critchley last month, and with the backing of Brighton owner Tony Bloom and Jamestown Analytics, they've found their man in McInnes.
McInnes comes to Hearts after a successful three-and-a-half-year stint at Kilmarnock, where he led the team back into the top-flight and secured European qualification in the subsequent season.

The move for the former Aberdeen boss was hardly a secret, and news of his decision to join Hearts mid-season did not sit well with Kilmarnock supporters.
Consequently, McInnes and his coaching staff were absent from the dugout during Sunday's match in Ayrshire, which saw Stephen Kingsley score a last-minute winner to secure all three points for the away side, reports the Daily Record.
McInnes inherits a Hearts team that fell short of the top six this season, despite finishing third just a year ago.
The season began with Steven Naismith at the helm, but a poor start led to his dismissal and the appointment of Englishman Critchley in November.
Ex-Rangers midfielder McInnes is poised to introduce his own support staff, with Liam Fox - who was promoted from head coach of Hearts B to take on first team responsibilities for the final five games of the season after Critchley's exit - saying a heartfelt goodbye to the club on Sunday. He was informed that he wasn't part of the new manager's future plans.

Stuart Findlay set for Hearts transfer with Oxford talks progressing as part of planned double swoop

McInnes made Findlay a top transfer priority soon after making the move from Kilmarnock and a deal is likely to be done Stuart Findlay is set to join Hearts as talks with Oxford United progress over the defender. Record Sport revealed that new boss Derek McInnes wanted Findlay to join him at Tynecastle as a matter of priority after making the move from Kilmarnock. ‌ Scotland international Findlay has spent the last two season on loan at Rugby Park from Oxford, where he still has another year left on his contract. ‌ However, Hearts have entered negotiations with the Championship club over a deal for Findlay and he is expected to be confirmed as a Hearts player before the start of pre-season training next week. McInnes has previously hailed Findlay's impact for Killie, not just with his own performances, but on those around him. He said: "There's no doubt having Stuart Findlay back has been massive for us. He doesn't always catch the eye, and he's not exactly dribbling out and making chances and all the rest of it, but he's such a calming influence. 'That ability for a centre-half to make people round about them better is a dying art, because so many boys now just want to play their own game and look after themselves, but he does it in such a quiet effective way.' The Jambos are also progressing a deal for Portuguese striker Claudio Bravo. Around £400,000 is expected to be enough to tempt Norwegian second-tier side Aalesund FK into selling the 25-year-old, who still has 18 months left on his contract. ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Norwegian boss tells ex-Celtic star to change clubs

It comes after the 27-year-old played just three times for Brentford at the centre of defence last season. Solbakken would like Ajer to turn out in his natural position more regularly, and thus thinks he should leave the Premier League outfit. Read more: The boss spoke after his side's 3-0 win over Italy last Friday evening, in which the ex-Celt completed 90 minutes at centre half. "He can be a very good and stable centre-back, and he was today, but he has to change clubs," said Solbakken [Sport Witness]. "He cannot play right-back in every third game if he is to be a proper, safe and good centre-back. Because he has all the prerequisites. "I think Ajer would have been better suited to playing centre-back in another league. He has had some tough injuries in England. "He will never be a super right-back, at the same level as he is as a centre-back. At the age he is now, I think he is allowed to put his foot down. You can't be a 'cover' right-back at his age now. "Many people get angry with me when I say things like that publicly, but I think we should be a little honest about it. Not that I'm going to interfere with Brentford selling him, but he's at an age and is a type of player who can develop into a very stable, good defender at a high level."

Ex-Hearts & Hibs defender hails Ibrox as 'noisiest' stadium

Demetri Mitchell, who currently plays for Exeter City, made the claim during an appearance on the 'From My Left' podcast. Read more: The 28-year-old, who played for both Tynecastle and Easter Road, said: "I've played in some big derbies like Hearts and Hibs. "I've played at Celtic Park. "I've played at Ibrox. "That's the noisiest stadium I've played in, Ibrox. "Bro, when the ball went out for a corner, my ears were ringing, ringing." Mitchell is not the first player to be impressed by the noise levels at the home of Rangers. Former Germany internationals Sami Khedira and Mario Gomez both recently praised Ibrox. Khedira, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, said: "For me, the most craziest experience ever was my first Champions League match. "We played Glasgow Rangers and it was such an amazing experience." Gomez, who won the Champions League with Bayern Munich, said: "I would say the Scottish fans like Celtic but to me I played against the Rangers and I will never forget this. "They've been really strong."
