Chicago Blackhawks trade Seth Jones to Florida Panthers for G Spencer Knight and conditional 2026 1st-round pick
ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman Seth Jones to the Florida Panthers, the team announced late Saturday.
The Hawks will receive goaltender Spencer Knight and a conditional 2026 first-round pick, and they'll retain 26% of Jones' salary. His contract runs through the 2029-30 season.
Jones, 30, went public last month with his desire to play for a contender and asked Hawks management to facilitate a trade.
'Your prime's only so long,' he told the Tribune on Feb. 22 before the Hawks played the Blue Jackets in Columbus, Ohio. 'You're only going to play your best hockey for so long. To me, it was something to think about. Obviously I got advice from my agent (Pat Brisson) and things like that too. This is kind of the solution I came up with.'
The defending Stanley Cup champion Panthers are second in the Eastern Conference.
News of the trade came just hours before the Hawks

This was a prerequisite,' Krouse told Channel 2's Bryan Mims. TRENDING STORIES: Officer hit by car in Carrollton while directing traffic 'Senseless': Brothers, ages 13 and 14, accused of Clayton party shooting, posting it to social media Sheriffs' Assoc. sues Judge Hatchett after sheriff's guilty plea for groping her It was April 2023 when Krause publicly announced his plans to build a mixed-use development centered around an 18,000-seat hockey arena in Forsyth County. It's named 'The Gathering at South Forsyth' and would be located along Georgia 400 between Alpharetta and Cumming. The National Hockey League has not said it plans to expand and bring a franchise to the Atlanta market. However, Krause says the demand is here and his development can accommodate a team. 'A lot of people in this state believe we should have a hockey team. I believe we're gonna have one,' Krause said. Forsyth County commissioners agreed to provide $225 million in bond financing, but only if The Gathering lands a pro hockey team. With county officials approving these final, critical documents, Krause plans to meet with the NHL commissioner after the Stanley Cup playoffs. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter] Krause said to see three governing bodies in Forsyth County unanimously approve the project brings him to tears. 'It's emotional. It's been a lot of hard work by a lot of people. It's nice to see when your hard work, our team has worked hard, it has paid off,' Krause explained. Krause says he talked with Commissioner Gary Bettman this week. He says if this final approval from the county came today, Bettman would meet with him after the NHL finals. Krause says he expects a decision from the NHL about expansion at the latest by the end of this year.

Angel Reese gets 100% real on Sky's resiliency
The post Angel Reese gets 100% real on Sky's resiliency appeared first on ClutchPoints. Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky have had a tough start to the 2025 WNBA season, but they have remained resilient despite their hardships. Advertisement Going into Saturday's matchup against the Indiana Fever, the Sky had a 2-4 record. Their inability to be potent on offense and stout on defense have prevented Chicago from starting the year with a winning record. Reese reflected on the team's struggles to start the season, which included a four-game losing streak. She is not losing confidence, especially not with her team. 'Obviously we could easily grow and just continue just to lose, lose, lose. But I think we just continue just to work and put our heads down and grind it. It's not supposed to be easy for us. And I think everybody on this team, our journeys haven't been easy,' Reese said. 'Everybody's been underground at one point. Everybody's been through something at one point. So I think we just come together with that chip on our shoulders. I think everybody just comes to work every day and that's just something that we're feeling.' How Angel Reese, Sky played against Fever Chris Jones-Imagn Images Unfortunately for Angel Reese and the Sky, they could not keep up with the Fever as they lost 79-52 on Saturday. Advertisement The Sky could not get any offensive momentum going throughout the entirety of the contest. They shot 32.1% from the field, including 20% from beyond the arc, and 68.4% from the free-throw line. No player scored in double-digits on Chicago's behalf. Kamilla Cardoso and Rebecca Allen tied for the most points with eight each on 5-of-11 shooting combined. Elizabeth Williams and Hailey Van Lith came next with seven points each.
