Lady Gaga on 'Joker: Folie a Deux's negative reviews
Singer Lady Gaga shared her perspective on Joker: Folie a Deux receiving bad reviews and a disappointing box-office collection.
Lady Gaga plays the role of Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Gaga plays Lee, who eventually becomes Harley Quinn, a patient in Arkham State Hospital, a mental institution where Phoenix's Arthur Fleck is a maximum-security inmate.
"People just sometimes don't like some things," said Gaga, adding, 'It's that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. And you keep going even if something didn't connect in the way that you intended."
"When that makes its way into your life, that can be hard to get control of. It's part of the mayhem," she said adding that the fear of failure can be damaging, as per the outlet.
Notably, Todd Phillips' directorial musical psychological thriller Joker: Folie a Deux, received a standing ovation at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.
The sequel to the 2019 film Joker hit the theatres on October 4, after premiering at the Venice Film Festival. The first Joker movie won the Golden Lion at Venice in 2019.
Meanwhile, on Monday, singer Lady Gaga shared details about her upcoming album Mayhem, which will be released on March 7.

US actor Kim Novak to receive Venice film festival career award
Kim Novak, a Hollywood diva from the 1950s and 1960s who starred in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at this year's Venice Film Festival, organisers said on Monday. Best known for her starring role in the 1958 psychological thriller, Novak also held notable roles in classics such as Kiss Me, Stupid by Billy Wilder, as well as Picnic and The Man with the Golden Arm. The 92-year-old actor will be given the so-called Golden Lion for "inadvertently becoming a screen legend", the festival's Artistic Director Alberto Barbera said in a statement. "Kim Novak was one of the most beloved icons of an entire era of Hollywood films, from her auspicious debut during the mid-1950s until her premature and voluntary exile from the gilded cage of Los Angeles a short while later," Barbera said, calling her independent and nonconformist. The documentary Kim Novak's Vertigo by Swiss-American film director Alexandre Philippe, made in cooperation with the actor, will be premiered at the festival to accompany the award, organizers said. "I am deeply, deeply touched to receive the prestigious Golden Lion Award from such an enormously respected film festival. To be recognised for my body of work at this time in my life is a dream come true," Novak said in the statement. The 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival will run from August 27 to September 6, 2025. Werner Herzog, the veteran German director of "Fitzcarraldo", will also receive a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement this year. The line-up of films in competition is due to be revealed in July.

She also shimmied to 'Goo Goo Muck' and did the viral dance number from 'Wednesday' Season 1 alongside performers dressed like Wednesday Addams, her butler Lurch and the disembodied hand Thing. As per 'Variety', later this year, Gaga is set to make a cameo appearance on Season 2 of Netflix's 'Wednesday'. According to Netflix, Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday. Other guest stars this season include Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo. 'Wednesday' follows Jenna Ortega in the titular role of the psychic 'Addams Family' daughter in her time as a student at Nevermore Academy. Lady Gaga to guest star in second season of 'Wednesday'
There's great news for fans of Lady Gaga and the show Wednesday. The pop queen is all set to be seen in the second season as a guest star, People magazine reported. At Netflix's Tudum 2025 live event last week, the streaming giant unveiled the first six minutes of the show's highly anticipated second season. After a nearly three-year wait, fans finally got to see what kind of spooky shenanigans Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) gets up to this season. The footage begins with Wednesday tied up in a serial killer's basement -- "who said nightmares don't come true?" -- surrounded by life-size dolls. "He's under the delusion that I'm his next victim," she says. "I'll let him cherish that notion while I explain my predicament." A flashback from six weeks earlier then takes place, showing Wednesday spending her summer vacation doing what any normal teen would be doing: mastering her psychic ability. Back on stage at Tudum, the Wednesday cast revealed that Lady Gaga will be joining season 2 in a guest starring role. The details regarding her character were not disclosed. Interestingly, Gaga performed at the event, delivering a show-stopping performance, including Bloody Mary as well as her hit song Abracadabra. Gaga stepped out from a vertical coffin amid a sea of background dancers dressed in the vein of Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman), singing track Zombieboy off of her recently released Mayhem, Deadline reported. Part 1 of the hit series' second season will debut August 6, with Part 2 following September 3.
