Miley Cyrus Recalls ‘Extremely Excruciating' Medical Emergency During Show
There's a 'traumatic' backstory to ' 'New Year's Eve Party' NBC special when she rang in 2023 on the cusp of a medical emergency and health scare. The musician interviewed with Zane Lowe ahead of the release of her new album, 'Something Beautiful,' and detailed the distressing and 'extremely excruciating' experience.
The backstory had remained undisclosed until Cyrus' revelation, as everyone could remember her zestful takeover of the stage alongside her co-host and godmother, Dolly Parton. That night, the dynamic duo performed several hits, with multiple other guests and 'Saturday Night Live' stars joining them.
Miley Cyrus' night didn't quite go as planned for her NBC special 'New Year's Eve Party' when she suffered from a 'medical emergency' due to an ovarian cyst rupture. In her interview with Zane Lowe, she detailed her 'pretty traumatic experience' on the show, which was contrary to what everybody saw. 'I had a, uh, ovarian cyst rupture,' Cyrus told Lowe while recalling her unpleasant night as she rang in 2023. 'We didn't know exactly what was going on, so we did it, but it was pretty traumatic, cause it was extremely excruciating,' she detailed.
The Grammy winner revealed that she 'did the show anyway,' but claimed it had been 'really, really hard on me.' In fact, it was so distressing for her that she even considered discontinuing her music career — a journey she embarked on as a kid. But something the show's executive producer and 'SNL' creator, Lorne Michaels, told Cyrus helped her change her mind. In the interview, she recounted having dinner with Michaels afterward when he 'said something that now has stuck' with her.
'He goes, 'Six months, everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves, and then we start to rebuild,'' Miley Cyrus narrated as she remembered their conversation. Cyrus claimed she knew it was far beyond her 'amount of time that I was able to shut down.' She continued how Michaels further shared with her about the countless artists who have told him about 'quitting music,' as he explained to her that everyone 'has these traumatic experiences.'
Ultimately, the 32-year-old singer recanted on her intrusive thoughts about pulling the plug on her remarkable career and gave her fans the music they deserved.

The beloved actor died from cardiac arrest, according to a death certificate released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and obtained by TMZ. The certificate cites congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease and hypertension as underlying causes of Wendt's death, with significant contributing conditions of kidney failure and high cholesterol. Miley Cyrus Pays Homage to Madonna With Her Latest Vintage Flex
Two-and-a-half years before Miley Cyrus was born, Madonna was in the throes of her Blond Ambition tour, hitting the stage around the world in the now-iconic Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra. Now, 35 years later, Cyrus is celebrating the release of her latest album, Something Beautiful, in Madge's image. Last night, Cyrus wore a chocolate brown dress from Gaultier's fall 1990 collection. Like Madonna's Blond Ambition look, it featured the same lace-up corsetry throughout the front, sides, and along the hips—though the embroidered cups on Cyrus's dress were far less exaggerated than Madonna's poke-an-eye-out bust. And while Madge wore her corset with fishnets and a pair of panties, Cyrus's look featured a midi-length fringe skirt. Styled by Bradley Kenneth, she paired the piece of prized vintage with a pair of pointy-toe pumps secured with an ankle strap. The duo shared the stage in 2014 during Cyrus's special for MTV's Unplugged, where they performed a mash-up of Madonna's 'Don't Tell Me' and Cyrus's 'We Can't Stop.' In 2022, Cyrus covered 'Like a Prayer.' While Miley Cyrus has worn no shortage of major vintage surrounding her Something Beautiful release–from Mugler to Roberto Cavalli—this Jean Paul Gaultier isn't only a major flex, but an homage to the pop stars who came before her.

Billy Joel's ex-wife Elizabeth Weber speaks out after his brain disorder diagnosis
Billy Joel's first ex-wife, Elizabeth Weber, has broken her silence following the iconic musician's shocking brain disorder diagnosis. The 'Uptown Girl' hitmaker, who was married to Weber from 1973 to 1982, revealed last month that he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus. Following the diagnosis, Weber reflected on the pair's ill-fated marriage — saying that she always knew the so-called Piano Man would become a star. 'He's worked so hard all of his life,' Weber told E! News at the Tribeca Festival premiere of 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' in NYC on Wednesday. 'I've never known anybody who worked harder than he did in all those years we were together and working together.' While the 5-time Grammy winner, 76, wasn't in attendance at the glitzy premiere, his wife Alexis Roderick Joel, 43, was there in his place. 'I just want him to be restored to good health so he can enjoy his life and his wife and his children. He earned that,' Weber said of her ex-husband. 'The restoration of his good health is all I really care about.' Although their union crumbled after just seven years, Weber told the outlet that she still admires his work deeply, to the point where she finds it difficult to choose a favorite track. 'There's too many of them, and they're all marvelous,' she said. 'Someone can be in the audience and look at him and say, 'That could be me.'' 'Not everybody can be an unnamed pianist who sings, but everyone thinks that they could do that or be that,' she added. The 'New York State of Mind' musician canceled all his tour dates through next year after he announced his diagnosis. The rare disorder, which reportedly affects about 0.2% of people between the ages of 70 and 80, occurs when cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up inside the skull, presses on the brain and disrupts cognitive functioning. 'Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH),' the 'Only the Good Die Young' crooner's team said in a lengthy Instagram announcement on May 23. 'This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance,' it continued. 'Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.' 'I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience,' his team added, 'and thank you for understanding.' Following the news, his wife Alexis broke her silence on the diagnosis, thanking fans for the 'outpouring of love and support.' 'We are so grateful for the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received,' she wrote on Instagram. 'Bill is beloved by so many, and to us, he is a father and husband who is at the center of our world. We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.' Earlier this week, Howard Stern shared a positive update on his longtime pal's well-being. During an episode of SiriusXM's 'The Howard Stern Show' Tuesday, the 71-year-old shock jock insisted that the crooner is 'not dying.' 'I saw Billy Joel two weeks ago,' he told co-host Robin Quivers. 'We had dinner together.' 'Yeah, he does have issues,' Stern continued. 'But he said, 'Yeah, you can tell people, you know, I'm not dying.' You know, he wants people to know that. He just, he's gotta deal with some medical stuff, but he was delightful.'
