Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon .. Road closures, traffic diversions announced

In coordination with the Traffic Department, the Jordanian Marathon Association, also known as Run Jordan, has finalized traffic management plans, including road closures and diversions, to facilitate the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon, scheduled for next Friday in Aqaba. The measures prioritize public safety and ensure smooth accessibility during the event.
The association confirmed that alternative routes and comprehensive safety measures have been arranged in collaboration with Public Security and the Traffic Department. The marathon is set to welcome Jordanian and international runners, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging teamwork across age groups.
Traffic officers will be stationed across the city to guide residents toward alternative routes and help them avoid closed roads, minimizing delays and disruptions.
Road Closures
The following streets will be closed on Friday, December 8, from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM:
Al-Farouq Street (in both directions) starts near Airport Road and ends at Al-Istiqlal Street.
All side streets and openings leading to Al-Farouq Street.
Al-Istiqlal Street, including the InterContinental roundabout.
Hotels Street from the InterContinental Hotel to the McDonald's roundabout.
One direction from the McDonald's roundabout to Revolution Square.
Alternative Routes
Drivers are advised to use the following roads during the marathon:
Governorate Street.
One direction from the McDonald's roundabout, passing by Movenpick Hotel to Al-Istiqlal Street.
Al-Istiqlal Street to the Mahdood traffic light, then right toward the Mahdood roundabout.
Tunisian Hammam Street.
Al-Sulta Street toward the airport.
Internal streets within the central Mahdood area.
The association called on citizens to cooperate with traffic management teams and adhere to the designated routes to ensure a seamless flow of activities during the marathon. Petra

Following victories over Oman and its sister team, Iraq, in a match against South Korea, the national team qualified for the World Cup. In the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, Ali Alwan opened the scoring with a penalty kick, giving the team a hat-trick. Then, in the 51st and 63rd minutes, he added the second and third goals. In the ninth and penultimate round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round, the national team qualified for the tournament. Yazeed Abu Laila, Yazan Al-Arab, Abdullah Naseeb, Ahmed Assaf, Mohammed Abu Al-Nadi, Ibrahim Saada, Amer Abu Jamous, Muhannad Abu Taha, Yazan Naimat, Musa Al-Taamari, and Ali Alwan were among the players who started for the national team against Oman.
