Police rule out foul play in Taiwanese man's death at Puchong LRT station
SHAH ALAM: Police have confirmed that there was no criminal element involved in the death of a Taiwanese man who was run over by a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train at the Pusat Bandar Puchong station last Tuesday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the incident was the result of the victim's actions, and the case remains classified as sudden death (SDR).
"Investigations found no indication of foul play or negligence.
"We have evidence indicating that the victim fell due to his own actions," he told reporters here today.
Earlier reports stated that CCTV footage showed the 63-year-old man, who entered Malaysia on May 31, walking alone before falling onto the tracks and being hit by the LRT train.
Police have contacted the victim's family in Taiwan for further action.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said among those arrested were the gang leader, a local man working as an e-hailing driver and his foreign lover, who are believed to have been actively carrying out drug trafficking activities for the past eight months. In the first raid on a house in Bukit Jalil at about 5.50pm on Tuesday, police nabbed a man and a foreign woman, and seized 4,656g of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) or ecstasy powder and three litres of juice suspected of containing drugs. 'The second raid was conducted on a house in Semenyih and led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of powdery substances believed to be MDMA weighing 230g, followed by a third raid at 6.10pm in Puchong where a male suspect was held and 966.10g of MDMA seized. 'At 10.30pm, we conducted raid number four on a house in Kajang. 'We arrested a man and seized 110 vape cartridges suspected of containing 2,880g of drugs,' Comm Hussein told Bernama at a media conference here yesterday. He added that the suspect then led police to a house in Kajang, where they seized MDMA powder weighing 21,452g, ketamine (4,722g), MDMA pills (641g) and Erimin-5 pills (1,960g). Following interrogation, police then arrested three men and a woman believed to be involved with the syndicate around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. 'In addition to the syndicate leader and his lover, who has lived in the country for the past 10 years, seven other suspects, all aged between 24 and 38, worked as food traders, personal shoppers and barbers. 'Six of them tested positive for drugs and three tested negative, while three had previous records related to crime and drugs.' Comm Hussein said the syndicate targeted entertainment centres around the Klang Valley to sell to individuals. He added that police also seized five vehicles along with jewellery, watches, luxury handbags and cash, with the total seizure amounting to RM341,449.16. 'This success is a result of the intelligence we carried out for two months. All suspects have been remanded for seven days, with the case being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.'

A LAWYER has demanded Anthony Loke Siew Fook to apologise and resign as Transport Minister after an elderly Taiwanese man died after he was run over by a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train at the Pusat Bandar Puchong station recently. Charles Hector who is also a human rights activist further contended that not only had the Seremban MP failed to ensure adequate safety measures were put in place, the incident which occurred at 5.54pm on Tuesday (June 3) was not the first as another person also died in February this year after having fallen onto the LRT tracks. 'This is not the first case so the Minister knew but did nothing or had procrastinated until yet another died,' Hector hit out on his latest blog. 'To protect people from walking and falling onto tracks, and possibly killed by oncoming trains requires safety measures like platform doors that prevent people from walking close to tracks and falling or jumping on tracks. 'Such is a standard safety measure in many countries that should have long been in place in all LRT and also train stations.' Earlier reports stated that CCTV footage showed 63-year-old Chang Pao-Shih who entered Malaysia on May 31 was walking alone before falling onto the tracks and being hit by the LRT train. Elaborating on an earlier February 2025 incident, Hector recounted that a visually impaired man died after falling onto the tracks at the Titiwangsa LRT station and was struck by a train. 'Similarly, in 2018, a man died at the same Puchong station where the latest incident occurred when he descended onto the tracks and was hit by an oncoming train,' lamented Hector who is the co-founder of NGO Malaysians Against Death Penalty & Torture (MADPET). 'At risk, have been persons of disability with the Society of the Blind in Malaysia (SBM) having highlighted in February 2025 that to-date, there have been at least 20 accidents involving visually impaired individuals falling onto rail tracks at Monorail, LRT or KTM stations.' Considering that the DAP secretary-general has assumed office as the Transport Minister in November 2022, Hector is adamant that Loke is fully aware of the problem, hence 'it's his fault' for failing to implement safety measures – whether permanent or temporary – to prevent such incidents. 'Maybe a placement of chains/ropes to prevent anyone falling off the tracks where it is removed when the train arrives to facilitate entry/exit without incident,' suggested the lawyer who has a practice in Temerloh, Pahang.
