Beats wireless earphones now nearly half price as shoppers say they are superior to other brands

Beats Powerbeats Pro earphones are now 49% off on Amazon, offering 9-hour battery life and over 24 hours with the case.
Wireless earbuds have become a go-to choice for those seeking high-quality audio, hands-free calls, and workout-friendly durability.
Among the most talked-about options are the Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones, which currently have a significant price drop on Amazon. Priced at £139, down from £269.95, they're now 49% off and available in Black, Ivory, and Navy.

The Powerbeats Pro offers up to 9 hours of listening time on a single charge, with the case extending playback to over 24 hours.

Designed with adjustable, secure-fit ear hooks, these earbuds are built for comfort and stability during intense workouts.
A reinforced, sweat- and water-resistant build adds durability, while volume and track controls on each earbud, built-in microphones, and auto play/pause features round out the functionality.
Several other options are also available in the wireless earbuds market.

The Anker Soundcore Sport X20, for instance, features rotatable and extendable ear hooks, IP68 waterproofing, and up to 48 hours of playtime. It is currently priced at £74.99 (RRP £89.99) with a 4.3-star rating from 5,472 reviews.
Another popular choice is the Apple AirPods Pro 2, which includes active noise cancellation, personalised spatial audio, and USB-C charging. At £189 (RRP £229), they've earned a 4.6-star average from over 15,000 reviews.
But for those considering the Powerbeats Pro, there's plenty of positive feedback backing the choice. These earbuds hold a 4.1-star rating from 11,699 Amazon reviews.

One user shared: 'My Powerbeats Pro is the best hearing aid I have ever bought... The battery lasts almost all day... With the hooks, my Powerbeats Pro sits comfortably in my ears with my glasses... Overall to me at least the Powerbeats Pro is superior to similar headphones in its class.'
However, not all experiences have been flawless. One reviewer said: 'There are two negatives... No ANC. And the earphones tend to have a common flaw whereby in-case charging can be an issue... I normally spend a few seconds carefully placing them in my charging case but still have turned up to the gym with one earbud dead.'

Other reviewers praised build quality and performance: 'Everything about these earphones scream quality... The sound quality surprised me... They are incredibly well balanced... Probably not as tight [a seal] as some others... but I don't find myself having to take them out because of a build up of pressure.'

While others were less impressed: 'The sound quality is just average, and they tend to fall out once I start sweating... there are times when only one headphone turns on after I take them out of the box.'

Another user was particularly enthusiastic: 'These headphones are game changing... Sound quality is possibly the cleanest I've heard... Also these are the only earbuds that stay in and I can wear for 12 hours no issues.'
The Beats Powerbeats Pro may not be without flaws, particularly when it comes to the size of the case and occasional charging issues—but they remain a strong contender in the premium workout earbud space.
Get the Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones HERE at £139 while the offer lasts.

Tech giants' indirect emissions rose 150% in three years as AI expands, UN agency says

GENEVA, June 5 (Reuters) - Indirect carbon emissions from the operations of four of the leading AI-focused tech companies, Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab, Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab, Alphabet (GOOGL.O), opens new tab and Meta (META.O), opens new tab, rose on average by 150% from 2020-2023, as they had to use more power for energy-demanding data centres, a United Nations report said on Thursday. The use of artificial intelligence is driving up global indirect emissions because of the vast amounts of energy required to power data centres, the report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the U.N. agency for digital technologies, said. Indirect emissions include those generated by purchased electricity, steam, heating and cooling consumed by a company. Amazon's operational carbon emissions grew the most at 182% in 2023 compared to three years before, followed by Microsoft at 155%, Meta at 145% and Alphabet at 138%, according to the report. The ITU tracked the greenhouse gas emissions of 200 leading digital companies between 2020 and 2023. Meta, which owns Facebook and WhatsApp, pointed Reuters to its sustainability report that said it is working to reduce emissions, energy and water used to power its data centres. The other companies did not respond immediately to requests for comment. As investment in AI increases, carbon emissions from the top-emitting AI systems are predicted to reach up to 102.6 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2) per year, the report stated. The data centres that are needed for AI development could also put pressure on existing energy infrastructure. "The rapid growth of artificial intelligence is driving a sharp rise in global electricity demand, with electricity use by data centres increasing four times faster than the overall rise in electricity consumption," the report found. It also highlighted that although a growing number of digital companies had set emissions targets, those ambitions had not yet fully translated into actual reductions of emissions.

Amazon settles State Farm lawsuit alleging it stole elder care technology

June 5 (Reuters) - Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab has settled a lawsuit by insurance company State Farm accusing the e-commerce giant of copying its patented technology to develop elder care services for Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa, according to a filing in Delaware federal court. The companies asked the court, opens new tab on Wednesday to dismiss the case with prejudice, which means it cannot be refiled. State Farm said in a statement on Thursday that the case had been settled under confidential terms. Spokespersons and attorneys for Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday. Bloomington, Illinois-based State Farm sued Amazon in 2022, in what the insurance company said was its first-ever patent infringement lawsuit. According to the complaint, State Farm met with Amazon in 2019 and 2020 about incorporating its Sundial senior-care assistance technology into Alexa-enabled devices. The lawsuit had accused Amazon of copying patented Sundial features, including its "circle of friends" for coordinating caregiver responsibilities, a chatbot for seniors to interact with the platform, and check-in and monitoring services. Amazon had denied the allegations and argued that the patents were invalid. The case is State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. v.
