Alex Morgan becomes minority investor in San Diego Wave
Alex Morgan has re-entered the NWSL world less than a year after retiring as a player. The former USWNT star announced on Tuesday that she is now a part-owner of the San Diego Wave, the club where she finished her career.
Morgan joined the Wave during their inaugural season in 2022 and played for the club until the back half of last season, abruptly retiring after discovering she was pregnant for a second time.
'San Diego is where I've built my home, where I am raising my children, and found a purpose beyond my playing career,' Morgan said in a statement. 'I believed in Wave FC before a single match was played, and I still believe this club has the power to change the future of women's sports. I'm proud to invest in that future and not just as a player, but now as an investor.'

Aside from saying that Morgan will be a minority investor in the club, no other details were given on her stake. The Wave are majority owned by the Levine Leichtman family, who completed their $113m purchase of 100% of the club from former owner Ron Burkle at the end of the 2024 season. Since the new ownership took the reins, the club has undergone numerous changes. That includes the departure of club president and former USWNT coach Jill Ellis, following allegations that she created a hostile work environment (Ellis has countersued for defamation of character), along with the hiring of former Arsenal Women head coach Jonas Eidevall and the trade of Jaedyn Shaw to the North Carolina Courage.
'Alex has always fought to positively impact this game beyond the pitch,' said Lauren Leichtman, controlling owner of Wave FC. 'Her decision to invest is not only a continuation of her leadership but also a reflection of her belief in what we are building.'
Morgan finished her career as one of the most accomplished players in the history of US women's soccer, winning two World Cups and Olympic gold with the US to go with an NWSL Championship in 2013 and the NWSL Shield in 2023. She said after retirement that she intended to invest in women's sports in her post-playing days, and she has kept her word – before this latest investment in Wave FC, Morgan also started venture capital firm Trybe Ventues and became an investor in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 women's basketball league.

US Open food and drink prices revealed as golf fans fume at ‘disgrace' of a menu and staggering cost of WATER
GOLF fans fumed at the "disgrace" of a menu at the US Open. The tournament kicks off on Thursday but already the Oakmont concession prices have been revealed online. 3 3 And fans were stunned to see just how much a bite to eat could set them back. A Philly cheesesteak was the heftiest meal on the menu - costing $13.95 (£10.33) - while crisps were $3.49 (£2.58). A single Corona costs $11.95 (£8.85) - despite being able to buy a four-pack for £6 at Sainsbury's. Even a bottle of water is $4.95 (£3.66) - but what really did it for fans was the $1.95 (£1.44) price of a banana. One raged: "$1.98 for a banana??? I'm taking my business elsewhere!" Another fumed: "$1.95 for a banana is outrageous." One said: "$2 for a banana is crazy. Can get a bundle at the store for under $2!!! I am irate." On the course, American Bryson DeChambeau looks to retain his US Open title but Rory McIlroy enters off the back of his Masters win in April. Scottie Scheffler also claimed PGA Championship glory in May and will tee off as the bookies' favourite to go all the way. Elsewhere, fighting tooth and nail to make a name for himself in Pennsylvania will be full-time dentist Matt Vogt. Vogt - who runs his own dentistry practice in Indianapolis - is 1,173rd in the World Amateur Rankings but secured a debut place at a major. Not only does he hope his golf career will take off but also his dentistry business, revealing: "I think they've gotten a ton of enquiries. "I've got such a great team, I've got friends helping me out with all those messages and enquiries and said, 'hey, guys, forward those to Chris, my buddy, and make sure you stay focused on patients because that's what we're there to do in McCordsville, Indiana'. "It's been a lot of fun, some patients reaching out and fellow dentists. I feel like there are so many people behind me this week - Oakmont, Pittsburgh, dentistry - it's been fun. "Honestly, from a business perspective, that's not what it's about. We try to take good care of people, and if it brings us more great patients that we can help, awesome. "It will give us something to talk about maybe in and around the office." 3

Costco shoppers divided over new food court item
By Costco shoppers are divided over the food court's new and 'overpoweringly sweet' Frozen Strawberry Lemonade. Members expressed their concerns about the item on Reddit after it dropped in select locations last week. Commenters on the social media platform said the $2.99 frozen lemonade was available to purchase at Costco locations in California , Florida , Illinois , Iowa , and Michigan . While some users have expressed their love for the fruity flavor, others found it 'too sweet' or 'too tart' to handle. 'I was hit by intense sweetness followed by an intense sour,' a Reddit user wrote , adding that customers 'looking for something extremely sweet and sour' would be fans. 'It's a little too tart for me. The strawberries were nice. It's just the strawberries from the sundae, but it's a nice touch,' another person commented. Others believed it was the perfect treat to enjoy for a 'hot summer day' or 'relief from the Florida sun.' The new food court item, along with the hot turkey and provolone sandwich , is one of multiple recent menu changes at the big box store. Although flavoring was a red flag for some Costco shoppers, others also claimed that the store's straws made it challenging to enjoy the drink. Described as 'inadequate for this drink,' customers complained that the strawberries would get stuck inside the straw. 'At the end, we needed a spoon to get the little pieces of strawberries,' a customer revealed in a TikTok video. A few other customers were not interested in the beverage at all, and were disappointed to learn it had replaced Costco's Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Shoppers in recent months have also been divided over Costco's decision to only offer California Crab Rolls in Canada and make Kirkland-brand Signature Combo Pizzas unavailable in food courts. Many customers were also enraged after the chain announced a controversial plan to swap Pepsi for Coca-Cola beverages in its food courts. The chain confirmed Coca-Cola machines would start appearing in stores this summer. However, some Reddit users were furious after noticing Costco installed a Coca-Cola machine at a California store that opened in March. Costco has also been embroiled in controversy on social media due to possible price hikes . Reddit users claimed earlier this year that food court sandwiches rose from $3.99 to $6.99 at select locations. These changes came months after Costco enraged shoppers by increasing its membership fees.
