We had a clean run at the third rounds yesterday after the horrendous conditions at the end of Friday, which delayed completion of the opening 36 holes into Saturday.
Thankfully the Pennsylvanian weather held — so today is a free shot at the final 18.
Those will tee off with Australian Cam Davis at 7:52 a.m. ET (12:52 p.m. UK, 4:52 a.m. PT) as a single. It will likely be a lonely day for the man who will start 19-over for his final round.
The final pair of another Australian in Adam Scott (-3), alongside one-shot leader Sam Burns (-4), will get going at 2:15 p.m. ET (7:15 p.m. UK, 11:15 a.m. PT). Getty Images
No other golf course says U.S. Open like Oakmont Country Club, near the Allegheny River in western Pennsylvania.
This is a record 10th time in the history of this championship that Oakmont has played host to the drama.
As for the course itself, it's known for precision-cut greens and treacherously deep rough — and it really has lived up to its reputation during the first 54 holes of this year's major.
For those wondering, 2025 joins 1927, 1935, 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983, 1994, 2007, and most recently in 2016, where Dustin Johnson won his first career major here at Oakmont.
Both the country club and golf course were established in 1903. It sits 1,000 feet above sea level and is a par 70 for U.S. Open tournaments. Getty Images

Desmond Bane trade grades for Magic-Grizzlies blockbuster
The post Desmond Bane trade grades for Magic-Grizzlies blockbuster appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic shocked the NBA world on Sunday morning, pulling off the first blockbuster trade of the NBA offseason. Desmond Bane is headed to Orlando in exchange for four unprotected first-round picks, a pick swap, Cole Anthony and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Advertisement This move comes on the heels of disappointing first round playoff losses for both teams, and it addresses glaring needs for both teams. The Magic needed another perimeter shooter and scorer to go along with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, and now they have that in Bane. On the other side, the Grizzlies needed to shake something up in an attempt to go backwards to get some more room to take a leap next year. The core of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bane seemed to have hit its ceiling, and now the Grizzlies have some breathing room to make a big roster pivot. How did each team make out in the deal? Here are grades for both teams for this Father's Day blockbuster. Magic get more star power, much-needed shooter A deal like this for Orlando feels like it needs to be discussed in two parts. Advertisement First, there is the addition of Bane, which looks like a home run. He is one of the elite perimeter shooters in the NBA and can work both on and off the ball. Bane can shoot off the catch and on the move and will give Orlando some immediate artillery on the perimeter. Bane can also handle the ball at times and initiate the offense, taking some burden off of Banchero and Wagner. With this extra ball handler, the Magic can use Banchero down low to attack mismatches, and they now have a true perimeter threat to deploy with him in the two-man game. Bane and Banchero are a great fit together on paper and it will be fascinating to see how they work together next season and beyond. Wagner's playmaking should also help set Bane up as an off-ball scorer, a role that he thrived in playing alongside Morant over the last few seasons. The Magic now have a lethal starting core of Banchero, Bane, Wagner and Jalen Suggs, which should immediately help them take a step forward next season. On the other side, the price of the trade has to bring the grade down a bit. The Magic gave up four unprotected first-round picks in this deal. Four!! Those include the No. 16 pick this year in a draft rich with potential role players. Crucially, it also included the Phoenix Suns' unprotected pick in 2026. Advertisement With the Suns coming off of a nightmare season and steamrolling toward a breakup with Kevin Durant, there is a chance that next season could go very poorly as well. That pick could end up being a valuable asset in the lottery in a 2026 NBA Draft that is expected to be full of talent. Giving up Cole Anthony and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as a salary match isn't as big of a deal considering what Bane brings on the court, but what happens if this core tops out short of a title? The Magic now don't have many avenues to pivot. This trade is just as much a bet on Banchero becoming a true superstar as it is on Bane lifting the Magic in the present and the future. While that could very well pay off, it's worth questioning whether Bane is the level of player that warrants a gamble this expensive. Grade: B- Grizzlies ready to build around Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. Dale Zanine-Imagn Images The Grizzlies clearly had to pivot after getting swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder this season. They already made a big move to fire head coach Taylor Jenkins near the end of the regular season, and now they have made their big move to shake up the team. Advertisement It doesn't come as much of a surprise that Bane was moved. Morant is a beloved athlete in Memphis and Jackson has flashed so much two-way upside over the last few years, which left the TCU product as the odd man out. Now, the Grizzlies have plenty of flexibility to build around their two big-money stars. They get an extra draft pick this season to help supplement Morant and Jackson, and the Suns pick in 2026 could end up being very valuable as discussed above. Caldwell-Pope is on a bad contract and has a player option at the end of next season, but he could be moved next offseason on an expiring deal. He underperformed last season, but there is a chance that he could rebound in a better offensive ecosystem in Memphis. Anthony is on a team-friendly contract and has a club option after next season, so the Grizzlies have some control there. This opens up a lot of room for the Grizzlies to make a big move down the line, or to use the draft assets that they just brought in to make another swing this offseason. Kevin Durant, anyone? Kawhi Leonard Named in Kevin Durant Trade Report on Sunday
Kawhi Leonard Named in Kevin Durant Trade Report on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kevin Durant enjoyed another prolific season with the Phoenix Suns in 2024-25, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists across 62 games. He earned his 15th All-Star selection, eclipsed 30,000 career points, and maintained elite efficiency—shooting 52.7% overall and 43% from three. Advertisement However, despite Durant's breathtaking individual brilliance, team results fell short yet again. The Suns failed to reach the playoffs, finishing 36-46, a result that eventually led to the dismissal of head coach Mike Budenholzer. Due to the Suns' disappointing season, trade speculation around Durant has dominated headlines all summer. Phoenix's decision to trade him appears imminent, with league experts suggesting his tenure in Arizona will end as the franchise seeks to maximize return and shed luxury tax burden. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (35).Scott Wachter-Imagn Images His expiring $54.7 million contract adds urgency to both sides—Suns hoping for elite assets, Durant pursuing a true title contender. Advertisement Now, an unexpected suitor has emerged. On Sunday, ESPN's Brian Windhorst revealed on SportsCenter that the Toronto Raptors are 'lurking' in the Durant sweepstakes—even though they're not among his top-preferred destinations. Windhorst compared the situation to Toronto's 2018 trade for Kawhi Leonard: a bold one-year gamble to chase a championship. "This is somewhat reminiscent to what happened in 2018 when Kawhi Leonard was a free agent," Windhorst said. Toronto's interest makes sense. With a current core of Brandon Ingram, Scottie Barnes, and RJ Barrett, plus budding depth, the Raptors have the cap space and draft currency to propose a plausible trade—especially for a rental who could push them into serious playoff contention. Advertisement If acquired, the Raptors will add a four-time scoring champion and former league MVP in Durant, known for his offensive assets and killer instinct. His ability to stretch defenses with lethal shooting and reputation for high performances over the years would dramatically raise the ceiling for a team poised on the fringe of the Eastern Conference's upper tier. PSG cruise over Atletico, Bayern thrash Auckland at Club World Cup
Jamal Musiala scored a second half hat-trick as Bayern Munich destroyed New Zealand minnows Auckland 10-0 in the Club World Cup on Sunday. (Paul ELLIS) Paris Saint-Germain laid down an ominous marker on their march towards global domination at the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday as Bayern Munich showed no mercy to Auckland's amateurs with a ruthless 10-0 walloping. The first full day of action at the inaugural edition of the 32-team club tournament saw newly crowned European champions PSG produce a scintillating 4-0 rout of Atletico Madrid after Bayern's double-digit drubbing of Auckland City. Advertisement The New Zealand minnows are one of the Cinderella stories of the tournament, made up of amateur players who had to take unpaid leave to travel to the United States. But Bundesliga Goliaths Bayern were in no mood to indulge the Davids from the Oceania region, and duly ran riot in Cincinnati. Jamal Musiala scored a second-half hat-trick after coming off the bench while Kingsley Coman, Michael Olise and Thomas Mueller all netted twice. Sacha Boey scored the other goal in a Group C game that amounted to target practice for Bayern, who will face tougher tests ahead in the tournament against Boca Juniors and Benfica. Advertisement "We have to remain modest but it was important to be able to say that we took the game seriously," said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. "It was a good first match at the tournament, but of course challenges are going to grow and it's going to become more difficult." Auckland's interim coach Ivan Vicelich admitted that his team had run into the "reality of football against one of the world's top teams." "It is a dream for players coming from an amateur level to play in this environment," Vicelich said. "We knew it was going to be a very difficult game, playing against one of the top teams in the world, potentially one of the favourites for the Club World Cup, so we are just really proud of the players' efforts." Advertisement - 'Hungry' PSG rout Atleti - While Bayern were left satisfied with a clinical opening, PSG delivered a statement win over Atleti in front of an 80,619 crowd at a sun-baked Pasadena Rose Bowl -- the venue for the 1994 World Cup final. The French champions shrugged off searing heat -- temperatures reached 31 degrees Celsius (87.8 Fahrenheit) shortly after the midday kick-off -- to produce the kind of adventurous, attacking display which became their calling card en route to their dazzling Champions League triumph earlier this month. Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha gave PSG a 2-0 lead by half-time before Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-In sealed an impressive Group B win with late goals against an Atleti team who struggled to cope with the French side's multi-faceted attacking play. Advertisement PSG are bidding to crown a superb season which saw them win four trophies at home and in Europe with a fifth title. On Sunday's evidence, few would bet against Luis Enrique's side from being crowned world champions. "We had the objective of making history this season, but this is a new chapter," Luis Enrique said in his post-match news conference. "It's a nice challenge for the players and the team, to want to keep winning. "The club is hungry, the fans are hungry, the players and the team are hungry, and that's a good feeling. We have the same objective as in other competitions, which is to go as far as possible and try to win it." Advertisement Atletico manager Diego Simeone refused to cite the heat as a factor in his team's defeat. "I cannot blame it on the heat -- we both played in the same weather conditions," Simeone said. "They played much better than we did. They have amazing players and that's why they've just won everything." In other games on Sunday, Brazil's Palmeiras drew 0-0 with Portuguese giants Porto in Group A at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Another Brazilian side, Botafogo, face the Seattle Sounders in Group B later. rcw/sev
